Yeah, but what were the sales of Warriors? Like around 1 million? Nintendo knows that this game would not break this milestone. On the other hand, mainline FE is completely different story.

Either way, Zelda Direct. 50 minutes. In January. Is laughable to say at the least.
I don't think sales figures really matter, tbh. Engage will do gang busters (for FE standards), regardless. Again, I'm not saying this leak is real, I just don't agree with the logic.

I think the biggest indicator of when we can expect a Direct (particularly at this time of the year) are two things: an Indie World and a Pokemon Presents. These tend to happen shortly before a Direct is announced, so I would expect one in February, imo.

Imagine claiming that Sylux is SwitchForce. Like seriously? Sylux doesn't act like SwitchForce at all and actually has correct info. This screams YouTuber doesn't want to do research and only wants clicks.

So when this inevitably ends up being fake, the clicks collected, etc., do these channels ever own up to misleading their audience? Or are these channel's audiences trained to expect wrong info and are just willing to be entertained by unhinged stuff like this?

I'm just going to lean on a guess and say that you might not have watched the full video because if you did your questions would have been answered.

Here's something that will surely not bite me in the arse:

Nintendo Prime released a video today where he outlines a rumor from an anonymous source (who he said he wouldn't confirm so they would not get their 15 minutes of fame) which claims that a Zelda-focused direct will be announced this upcoming Monday and held on Wednesday and will be about 45-50 minutes long.

The source is shady beyond belief and goes into both bashing fellow YouTubers Mike Odyssey and SwitchForce and claiming that the leaker SyluxHunter is actually SwitchForce in disguise.

Lmaooo

no reason to expect the day to ever come that one of those content slop switch-focused youtube channels will have Original Information that can't just be gleaned elsewhere online lol. i can respect the clickbait hustle a tiny bit anyway but unless they're doing reviews or something all of that stuff is just gonna be Content for the Machine

To be fair, Xenoblade 3 had a Direct two days before Fire Emblem Three Hopes, so there's a precedent. Not that I believe this, but it's just something to keep in mind imo.
Three Hopes was also published by KT in Japan, which could play a factor. Not quite the same situation.

Sounds like a treehouse, but it’s too early for a Zelda treehouse. I’m not expecting anything but Fire Emblem stuff next week. If Nintendo is to give Zelda specific info in January, from Nintendo, I’d say tomorrow or bust, and I’m 98% sure it’ll be bust.

Don’t surprise me if we are getting a Ring Fit sequel or something similar this 2023 or next year.

And more Switch Sports updates please.
Oh yeah, I believed it would've released last year, but I fully expect a Ring Fit Adventure sequel either this year or next year. The game was a HUGE success selling more than Splatoon 2 and IIRC more than every Switch Pokémon other than S/W(S/V will pass tho too).
Splatoon got a sequel really quickly, and Splatoon 2 got a sequel in the same console. Super Mario Party is another record breaking one that got a sequel in the same console quite fast.
I believe in RingFit 2 being a cross gen game and bringing more stuff to the table, maybe even learning a bit from Switch Sports also having a digital version playable on Lite somehow while with less functions of course.

I thought lately that it would be fun to do contest around "How many pages will this thread get when Direct is finally announced?" The person who would guess it exactly or nearest would win a prize of eShop giftcard.

I think this is a good idea since it's not that boring as a "Team January/February" because this is something that every one of you can effect.

The ending of tips would be soon enough so the so the near exact number could not be guessed easily.

The best scenario is probably do this in this very thread by quoting the text that I would do. Doing another thread just for this feels useless.

Let me know how many days would be ideal to close the sending of tips and then I will make the official start with more details.

There's only 20 games listed for February atm. Some great ones too - Spongebob, Blanc, Clive and Wrench, Tales of Symphonia, Theatrhythm, Kirby, Octopath 2.

I suppose a mid February direct makes sense.

If my estimate for a February Direct is correct, maybe 120 pages?

It's so funny how Nintendo even used the term "Developer Direct" already during E3 2013. Microsoft really just added _ and called it a day lol

Very good to see those videos from Wii U era.
The smile in the face of Aonuma talking about how beautiful WWHD looks is just so cute 🥺.
Also the video with the Mario Kart 8 producer where he talks over and over again how MK8 would be the culmination of the series, the game they were working on to be perfect and have everything... Than, that sure feels real when we're a decade forward still playing it lol.

Despite being Team February, I'm hoping for Team January to steal a win with a Direct the week after Fire Emblem launches. Nintendo fucking shit up after people have thrown in the towel and accepted the new reality would be fun.
Never brought the idea that F-Zero comeback will be through a port of GX

Nintendo doesn't care much about games not made in house or by a studio they own
On a technical level GX is the simplest to remaster and the lowest level of risk to take. I can see that appealing to Nintendo. And you never know - perhaps an external studio proposed it to Nintendo and won them over.

Oh well, see you all after FE is out. Then again I'll be busy actually playing FE, so yeah, February 9th sounds perfect to me!

I know Nintendo's H1 lineups are often kinda weak but I don't think they want to go 4 months, 1/3 of the year, with nothing but a Kirby remaster and a Bayonetta spinoff. There's definitely at least one more March/April game

Fire Emblem is releasing next week?

Fire Emblem in releasing next week?
Maybe Pokemon DLC could fit in April or so? Sometimes I think they wait too long to release DLC and capitalize on sales - some people don't like to jump back into a game six or seven months after they bought it.

Looking back at Sword and Shield they got DLC in June and October though, so that might be a better template to follow.

Maybe Advance Wars for the spring game...it's already done.
