  • I think we'll see a Direct either this month or next month, in part because I think Nintendo is going to want to have Bayorigins in a Direct before it releases
  • The last Indie World was November, so I think we see the next one after the next Direct
  • I'm expecting Pokémon to do a thing on Feb 27th, and a Direct would skip that week
  • It is true that we don't know what Nintendo's got after Zelda. It is also true that we are expecting Nintendo to have a June Direct where they can show off what they've got after Zelda. They don't need to show off stuff for the latter half of the year here
  • Nintendo's spring lineup is mostly defined and I think a Mini is plausible because of that. If we get a full-fat Direct I expect to see a lot of third-party stuff bulking it up
  • XC3 DLC, MK8DX BCP, and trailers for announced games not yet released (Bayorigins, Zelda, etc) are locks, but a lot of potential stuff is up in the air due to the above
  • The Direct will tease the third trailer for the Mario movie
  • Outside of Pokémon, the only game that could have a dedicated Direct is Zelda, and that'd be an April thing
  • Don't think a potential pre-E3 hardware announcement affects the above significantly

February directs often have games for July and even August games. Nintendo likes to have at the very least two months to market a big game, and so a June Direct is too late to announce a large July or August release.
 
Dunno why but I kinda believe that Zelda direct rumour, maybe I just want it to be true. I also only know of Switchforce because I think he interviewed SyluxHunter so I'm gonna assume that part is true as well because someone interviewing themselves in disguise is a very funny thought to me.

Maybe Pokemon DLC could fit in April or so? Sometimes I think they wait too long to release DLC and capitalize on sales - some people don't like to jump back into a game six or seven months after they bought it.

Looking back at Sword and Shield they got DLC in June and October though, so that might be a better template to follow.

Maybe Advance Wars for the spring game...it's already done.

Advance Wars was never announced for Japan so there will be something else most likely, but maybe they could throw that out just before Easter.
One of these years Detective Pikachu 2 will show up, maybe?
 
I've been waiting for Advance Wars to come out for so long that I've decided that I want to complete WarGroove.

I'd guess this year tbh. GameFreak is always pumping out Pokemon but idk what they have outside of a potential DLC pack for S/V

It's the usual doom and gloom scenario, but it's kinda understandable too. Nothing happened this week, next week has an important release, and then the end of the month is approaching... i can't blame prople for thinking that the usual February Direct is what comes next

Real talk, I think a Direct will happen in the back half of this month.

My great sadness now stems that we can't even guarantee consistent first party news from Nintendo in the second week of June now that E3 is dead in palliative care. Like at least it was a commitment from them in spite of all this endless speculation over January or September, at least June was a known quantity.

Two or three partner showcases later in the summer and we're still just as in the dark as ever when it comes to understanding Nintendo's MO.

A whole lot of "I'll buy them on sale" games lol.

Truth be told, after Fire Emblem, I am focusing on backlog and old school stuff until April. That is when new purchases will really start to ramp up for me.

Nintendo Prime released a video today where he outlines a rumor from an anonymous source (who he said he wouldn't confirm so they would not get their 15 minutes of fame) which claims that a Zelda-focused direct will be announced this upcoming Monday and held on Wednesday and will be about 45-50 minutes long.

The source is shady beyond belief and goes into both bashing fellow YouTubers Mike Odyssey and SwitchForce and claiming that the leaker SyluxHunter is actually SwitchForce in disguise.

Why make a video about some demonstrably untrustworthy person contacting you and feeding you rumours you don't believe to be correct? I don't understand.
 
Hey guys, I heard Nintendo isn't having a Direct until the ABK deal goes through. Too much heat about them being a monopoly.
