Pikmin-4-announced-for-Nintendo-Switch-and-its-coming-in-2023-1024x576.jpg

@mazi here's the screenshot

This looks amazing, the detail on the leafs in the bottom right corner is bonkers for a Switch.

Speaking of "Switch 2", will we seen the return of the Hyperrealistic PIzza?

Can't wait for the Switch version of this to just make me want to break my TV just to grab a bite.

also I think that was Brittany right?

pokemon and fire emblem 3h damaged how people see the switch, to them its not even HD, its barely on the level of a wii game.
I didn't realize when Pokemon and 3H Released that launch titles BoTW and MK8 Deluxe were wiped from existence

for real tho - that's a problem on "people"'s side lol

people dont make sense. You can point several arguments to any subject, they will just ignore and follow what suits their mind.

Having still not jumped into this series yet (I will, I promise!), the fact that this FINALLY got announced properly after all these years made me so damn happy for all the series' fans.

You all deserve it after waiting so long, I hope you freaked out like I did last year when Metroid Dread got announced ❤️

absolutely loving this new camera angle holy smokes.

if ya'll havent played Tinykin yet i highly recommend it

On that note, come join the small guys community

hey thanks i missed that thread! will do.

I am so glad this game is coming. Best surprise of the Direct, although could've done without Miyamoto trolling with Pikmin Bloom for a couple minutes while we waited on edge. lmao

Normally I hate announcements like this where they barely show anything off but with a series like Pikmin I'm just happy we've got confirmation we're getting a 4th.

At least we got actual gameplay / in-engine and a promise of the game out in a year

glares at MP4

Pikmin 4 announcement was hilarious the same way how it's initial "reveal" in interview and "almost completed" was. Miyamoto just wanted to troll us till the end, dropping the trailer would be too normal, he had to tear us with the Bloom segment. Total legend.

Pikmin 3 release date was July 13th 2013. Pikmin 4 release date should be July 12th 2023 (Friday). That way, the Pikmin will never be on 10 year sleep without new game. I am sure some people talked about this earlier, even Raccoon, that Nintendo would never put Pikmin on 10 year long haitus.

I feel like this is going to be a horror game. A lot of the creatures are horrifying enough from an aerial view. Staring up at giant Bulborbs from the Pikmin's perspective is going to be absolutely terrifying.

When Miyamoto appeared I literally only expected the Mario movie so this was an awesome surprise.

Yeah, I think they are going for a effect similar to Grounded. It's gonna be to great to see what they do with it.

Oh wait until Pikmin 5...

The park bench and the other screenshots suggests there will be more man-made objects and environments in this one. Which would be cool to see.

Looks great! Please let me get rid of the timer, at least until im comfortable enough with the mechanics to turn it back on
looking back at the trailer, I wonder if the stopped pocketwatch is hinting at some sort of change to the time mechanic. personally I like the day system, and it's only been particularly high-stakes in the first game, but they've shaken up the structure in each game so far, so I'm excited for whatever's in this one. e.g. ...what if you didn't have to leave the planet overnight?

you can just restart the day

time management is literally the point of the game you know
I understand that, but i have a very hard time multi tasking, and i found that there was a lot to keep track of in pikmin 3. Because it took me a lot longer to come to grips with the mechanics, it ended up being very frustrating for me, and made me really dislike it. I want to be able to get good at these games, and enjoy it, so an easy mode that removes the timer would make it more accessible for me.

I can't believe it's real lol, really curious how the camera angle is gonna feel, I always loved the top-down approach

Fixing the camera angle will make this game a lot more well-loved and appeals to new players way more. I am down for that change, especially since the visual style of Pikmin is at odds with itself. It tries to present the characters as tiny, but you never get to see small everyday objects tower above the camera. It just is at odds with itself in that regard.

But being able to actually see the scale of the characters and every day objects. That's a game changer, and can save Pikmin from dying as a niche series. We could maybe even expect 5 million plus from it.

The game looks suspiciously too good for the Switch and they're holding off to show ANY gameplay despite it being scheduled for next year?

Hmmmm.
Eh, I wouldn’t look too much into it. Pikmin always ends up being the best looking Nintendo game on their respective console. Pikmin 3 on the Wii U looked insane…that pizza man.

Yeah... if they really wanna penetrate the mainstream they will have to change the gameplay style. An even more immersive Pikmin is a dream come true.
Guess they realized this too because Emily said it was rebooted in 2018/2019.

I think they're trying to target a largest audience with the dandori thing making the game more accessible but I hope that it will propose some challenges for the fans. Pikmin 3 DX was already not that challenging for an average experienced player even in its spiciest level of difficulty.

My guess is that it will be less challenging from a strategic/multitasking standpoint, and moreso challenging in combat.

Pikmin 3 had a little bit of this, but I assume with enemies, you are now going to require hitting certain parts of it in order to avoid losing Pikmin. That kind of precision is both untenable for new players, and makes the game a cakewalk for veteran players in Pikmin 3. But with enemies appearing larger, there will be a much greater challenging moving, and hitting a specific part(like a bulborbs eye).

"Strategically planning deploying and commanding" I think it means less real time gameplay.

Me in 2013: "Meh, I can't get into Pikmin, the whole overhead view for a minion game is not fun. Maybe in the future if Miyamoto decides making the game 3rd person and add some platformer elements in it"

Me in 2022: "Shiggy if you're still listening to me, I want a Mole Mania revival"
