I don't know if just because I'm old or not, but I personally don't care about spoilers for announcements. I still get excited for the reveal after the fact.
Showing how much of a dinosaur I am, this is me, too.

As far as I'm concerned, a leak/spoiler of a Direct's contents is the same level as a notable personality telling us about the existence or other details about an upcoming game that later becomes another "worse kept secret".

I'm going to be just as hype for when Metroid PrimeR is officially shown as I am when Emily first talked about it. Again, how I get the news is something I really don't care about!

I don't MIND spoilers that much, because like others said, the CONFIRMATION of said leak by way of actual reveal is sometimes just as exciting as not knowing beforehand, but I would also try to avoid spoilers if I can.

(WWHD/TPHD aside, of course.)

Since movie trailers are now all posted online ahead of theatrical runs and there's no way to really not know what the trailer you're clicking on is for, Directs have become sort of the last bastion of that feeling of "ooooh, what trailer is coming next?" while watching something. It's why I'm not a fan of twitter drops, as even though it gets the marketing and the hype across they still lack that bit of magic of waitching a trailer without even knowing what it's for.

One of the best examples I think was the Splatoon/Smash fakeout. When the reflection in the inkling's eye focused into the logo I lost my shit, and I'm not even a Smash fan. I love that feeling.

So I vote for surprise.

yes I recognize the irony of saying that while in a thread of Direct speculation and insiders but still, hearing what might be coming down the pipeline is more a peek into the industry for me than it is a peek into how a Direct is gonna go. And with the shuffling and segmenting that can take place we still never really know all that's coming in any Direct, so the surprise is still there while watching even if we know "there's a DK in the works, there's an FE in the works, there's Prime in the works," etc.

Looking forward to Monolith Soft's new action RPG medieval fantasy game being revealed as 'Rings of Power' the videogame.

Haha I wish tho right
I actually just finished episode 3 and was gonna say some of those landscapes kinda looked Monolith-ish. 😅

Watching a direct unspoiled with friends is always the best. I still remember the excitement we all had at the end of E3 2019 with the double closer of Banjo and Zelda, or the unhinged insanity of the Mario Movie cast reveal.

Oh yeah that was epic and a cool fakeout

Man, we need an Eternal Darkness remaster.

Get a sequel going too, a big horror game is something Nintendo doesn't really have lol

do we think Metroid Prime 4 is going to actually end up being called “Metroid Prime 4”

or will they ditch the number

it’s been a long time since an MP game was released and they’re going to want it to seem accessible to newcomers to the series…when they remade Metroid II they dropped the number for I think the same reason.

it’ll also be just weird to, like, remake one, and then release four, and then due a less ambitious remaster of two and three, as is the rumor i guess?

maybe it will be called, like, Metroid Primal. alluding to Metroid Prime without being part of the same number sequence

If they release Prime 4 before we get Prime 2 and 3 on Switch, then I think they'll probably drop the "4" and just give it a subtitle.

You know, I've been thinking every direct since 2020 (before we knew partners would be a thing) would be a chance for a new Fire Emblem and Zelda news.

Seriously, for every direct I've thought "this is the one that'll have FE4 Remake and Botw 2". Since 2019 really.

And even though FE is more likely something completely new (I'm cool with this), it feels like this month's direct has the highest chance of including the two things I'm the most excited for.

I will be ok if they're not there again... But I'm freakin ready man

The sheer number of times I heard "how the hell are they gonna top Banjo!?" to "HOLY SHIT" when they revealed BOTW2 is ridiculous.

Just learned that I've dodged covid again after being exposed for the 4th time this summer lol. So mentally I'm good to go for the crazy week we're about to have haha. I don't know how I've dodged covid since the beginning but I'll count my blessings.

Same here. At this point, the more likely answer is that I have gotten it at one point but was asymptomatic so I didn't know.

Maybe Metroid Prime 4 has gone into such a different direction over the course of its development, that they're forced to call it something totally different indeed.

I doubt it. Based on my avatar, which is literally the only thing we have on MP4 to date, it looks classic Metroid Prime as hell. Last E3 they reiterated the name as well. Also, on Retro's website all the job applications state, "Announced by Nintendo in January 2019, Retro Studios is currently in the midst of developing Metroid Prime 4 for the Nintendo Switch." I suppose anything can happen though, we'll see!

I was very much in favor of number ditching around when it was announced. Now I’m not sure I care.

They can always do what they did with Dread and call it Metroid something with a Metroid Prime IV title screen. I dunno

I'm more excited about who Nates mystery guest is than the actual Direct, well not really but im still curious who the guest is.

The english voice actress for Velvet did an amazing job, you actually really feel her pain and especially her rage at some of the twists. The only thing I really disliked in Berseria was the extremely lazy reuse of the dungeons & regions from Zestiria with zero to little changes despite having a thousand years between both. This aside, both games are pretty good (Mikleo x Sorey FTW).

I liked that in both games, when the scenario seems to do raise the stakes and insist that they won’t turn back or hesitate to go on no matter what happen, well they don’t lie. I also liked in Zestiria that you can actually finish the game a lot earlier when you encounter the final boss at one point. If you are high level enough (or in a NG+ with XP Boosts), you can actually defeat him, but your team doesn’t know what that implies to do it at this point of the story and without their knowledge of how to really finish him.

And it follows on a bad ending.
Velvet's performance is incredibly good. Honestly nearly the entire VA cast is great, I also love Magilou, who is another really great character that you don't think will be for a while. Berseria made me cry twice, one scene in particular (you probably know the one). And another scene was a slightly different reaction, but one of the single most heartbreaking and cruel things I've ever seen in a game.

Berseria isn't perfect and has some issues (dungeon design is the big one), but it's a game that the more time has passed since I played it, the more I like it. I might have to revisit it at some point. Maybe we'll get a Switch port one day.

Everyone's giddy about seeing Prime and BotW2 and I'm just to happy to finally have Kirby that I could burst

I'm happy to see what everyone's reactions to the new stuff will be, though. 😁

It's been forever since I played Berseria, but the cast has always remained the part I remember the most. One of the strongest JRPG casts out there, everyone contributes positively in some way. Magilou in particular is hilarious.

They've kept referring to it as Prime 4 thus far. I think it will be called Metroid Prime 4: (subtitle) like 2 and 3 are. Or maybe they'll just use the subtitle. Really looking forward to the name reveal. Prime, Echoes, and Corruption all sound awesome. They seem to like to keep it to single world titles which I dig as well.

It was weird seeing Dread's title screen not flash Metroid 5. The reveal trailer did it, and I remember reading them saying that it would in the title screen as well. Patch it in Nintendo! :p

When did Nick make mention of GCN games? Or are you referring to the Twin Snake tease?

My backlog and my wallet still want Nintendo to delay the Direct. My heart says otherwise, though. Oh, the agony. The dilemma!
