So here's the thing that I was going to write an article about however it seems a bit too flimsy for a story.

Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot Camp could release on September 30th, according to European retailer Alza (https://www.alza.sk/gaming/advance-wars-1-2-re-boot-camp-nintendo-switch-d6550120.htm). What makes this a unique case is that most of the games Alza put up without a specific release date usually put a December placeholder date this is an exception. This date has been on the site since Mid July going by the cached page I found on Bing.

Hopefully, it would save September from the Nintendo front.

Well, it makes sense. I could also confirm that it's listed on Alza.cz (the bigger counter part, they are from the same company just different country). for September 30th as a release. Pretty sure that Alza leaked some release dates in the past and I know this since am based in the same country that Alza is from.

If true, September will be even more brutal for my wallet.

No shot Advance Wars makes it out this year. Absolutely zero.
I think September 30th actually sounds reasonable, but I also think that, if it IS coming out in like a month, that game is going to get very silently released. It won’t be in the September direct, it’ll get two tweets at most (one announcing the release date and one ON release) and that’ll be it. I think, at this point, they want the game out and the possible negative press over with.

Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by sitting on a finished game that has printed copies sitting on literal shelves collecting dust

(but really I would like to experience these games please)

Regarding Advance Wars... it's entirely on Nintendo.

WayForward is done with it, have moved on & had done so months ago.

Pushing it out the door with like a few weeks window of "this is coming out then!" seems like the most likely scenario to me. Sad that it has to be this way, as this could've been a new lease of life for the Advance Wars series. I'm planning on picking it up, looks fun!

I believe this has already been discussed. Most of us think it’s just Google misinterpreting the date formatting on the February 9th Direct to think it’s a September 2nd Direct.
That makes sense to be honest, but a direct on the first week of september would be dope

I just realized we could get another Paper Mario game next year. It'll be three years since Origami King next June. OK did really well so a new game is inevitable.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door HD + Paper Luigi: Mystery of the Marvelous Compass (bonus side game where you actually get to experience Luigi’s wild adventure that happens while TTYD is happening)

Yes. If you follow the link on google, you will find the February 9th Direct page.

Hey Nintendo, my kid was sick all weekend. I slept for 2 hours last night. If you actually love me, then give me a Direct on…uhh…Wednesday.

Pls make with the commercial entertainment daddy :(

Nintendo could release Advance Wars today and barely anyone would bat an eye. It would maybe get a few negative online articles and then the controversy would be forgotten about in half a day.

I want TTYD HD so bad, I just don't know if Nintendo would do it with the character restrictions they now have in place for Paper Mario games, which results in just a bunch of Toads in the newer ones.

I think re-releases of old games is totally fine. They had no trouble putting the original Paper Mario on NSO within the last year, I feel like re-making TTYD would fall under the same sort of rules.

I remember hearing that nintendo would rather port gamecube games than release them on NSO, they see more value on re-releasing the games separately

Normally it’s four years between (modern) Paper Mario.

2012: Sticker Star
2016: Color Splash
2020: Origami King

Unless it’s a remake or something goes different, it’ll probably be 2024 we see a new one.

When Advance Wars finally gets released, it will do fine. The people who wanted the game will still get the game. This isn't a brand new game being made by Intelligent Systems. This is a remake initiated by NOA. I don't even think it was ever announced for Japan. Unless it was a massive ultra seller, which it probably wasn't going to be regardless of the delays, then the game's success probably wasn't even going to dictate the future of the series. It will likely meet its projected sales numbers but people will be disappointed because of unrealistic expectations for the game.

Those had new hardware to deal with (3DS to Wii U to Switch). The next game won't have that.

I really hope you’re right; I love Paper Mario (new and old) so I’d love to get my hands on a new installment sooner than later :)

EDIT: Everything but Sticker Star, that is

Intelligent System is apparently releasing two Fire Emblem games in the next year or so. I know they're different games, but I doubt Intelligent Systems would release three large games in such a small period of time.

Isn't one of the Fire Emblem games supposed to be from Gust or Koei Tecmo? I don't think they're actually developing three big games at once.

Lets play a game! Which direct scenario would you desire most?

Option A
  • BoTW 2 full reveal and date
  • Game Boy/ GBA on NSO
  • Fire Emblem
  • Mario Movie Trailer
  • New 2d Mario to go along with movie
  • Metroid Prime 4 development update implying further delay
  • Silksong Shadow drop
  • Switch "Pro" Announcement

Option B
  • F- Zero new entry
  • Pikmin 4 for 2023
  • Gamecube on NSO
  • Golden Sun Reboot
  • Reboot Camp December 2022
  • Metroid Prime HD
  • Metroid Prime 4 Full Revel
  • Zelda no show and delay out of Spring 2023
  • Mario Odyssey 2 announced for 2024
B, because Pikmin

So i hope they at least clean my copy before sending it... i'm allergic to dust

Jokes aside, i hope that release date is true. It's day 1 for me

Just read a thread on Reddit where someone was thinking that Breath of the Wild 2 will just be a retread of the original with sky islands. They seemed to think that all of the team’s cards had already been played in regards to what they’ve shown us.

Personally I believe there’s a TON we haven’t seen yet. If what we have seen so far is IT, then I don’t think it justifies a sequel or 5-6 years of dev time. The Zelda team is so passionate about their games and I know they will put out an absolute masterpiece that not only builds upon the original game, but also crafts its own identity.

I kind of look at BOTW 2 reveal footage as sort of a misdirection from Nintendo. I didn't find the footage all that exciting but I think the game is a lot more ambitious and once they do a full proper unveil it's going to shock and surprise us all with something far more exciting. I think Nintendo just doesn't want that kind of hype until closer to release so they only showed a tease and that's it.

I was thinking about something, since BOTW 2 was delayed to next year, what if Grezzo was working on another Zelda 2d game (remake or new), and they are ready to launch it in 2023, will Nintendo delay it to 2024, or still release it in Q4 2023? It would be pretty hype to have 2 new Zelda games coming next year, even if one is a remake of Oracles or Minish Cap.

We've seen so little of the game and what we have seen, including from patents, shows an abundance of new gameplay ideas already.

Nintendo is not going to delay BOTW2 another 9 months out of Spring 2023 to accommodate a 2D Zelda game, if anything that game will be held back for as many months as they see fit to not clash with BOTW2
