Lets play a game! Which direct scenario would you desire most?

Option A
  • BoTW 2 full reveal and date
  • Game Boy/ GBA on NSO
  • Fire Emblem
  • Mario Movie Trailer
  • New 2d Mario to go along with movie
  • Metroid Prime 4 development update implying further delay
  • Silksong Shadow drop
  • Switch "Pro" Announcement

Option B
  • F- Zero new entry
  • Pikmin 4 for 2023
  • Gamecube on NSO
  • Golden Sun Reboot
  • Reboot Camp December 2022
  • Metroid Prime HD
  • Metroid Prime 4 Full Revel
  • Zelda no show and delay out of Spring 2023
  • Mario Odyssey 2 announced for 2024
Option A aligns with my personal tastes more, but Option B is just too good to pass up on. Easy choice for me.

Option A. It’s not even a match lmao
Zelda and Fire Emblem are what I want from this direct

I remain confident for the 1st but the fact that nate still does not confirm is surprising, team 1st September still

While i can understand why someone would vote for B (Metroid Prime 4 blowout, Metroid Prime 1, GameCube games and a new chance for some franchises), option A is much more appealing

ok, quick september direct predictions so someone can make a 4chan leak:
first party
  • new fire emblem
  • mario strikers update
  • bayonetta 3
  • splatoon 3 final push
  • metroid prime 1 remaster + 4 teaser
  • zelda ww/tp hd dual pack + botw 2
  • a good-feel title; either yoshi woolly world port or something new
third party
  • batman arkham collection
  • new 2d castlevania
  • final fantasy various announcements: tactics remaster, crisis core reunion, type-0 hd, pixel remasters and xiii trilogy
  • new megaman title
  • mario + rabbids 2
  • time crisis remake
  • guilty gear strive port
  • sizzle reel with previous announced titles
EDIT: I forget about adding GB/C titles to NSO
The first party stuff here would be an absolute snooze fest for me, but the third party stuff is incredible. Pixel Remasters and FF13 in one direct? I'd die.

This is tough, but I'd have to go for Option A because of BotW2 and GB/GBA NSO. New 2D Mario would be cool too. Not as cool as a 3D Mario but sacrifices must be made.

Nintendo makes the 2D Mario you're all describing and takes a page from Crash Bandicoot and just calls it Super Mario Bros. 5.

Since Mario World is called Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan.

People need to mentally and emotionally prepare themselves for the considerable likelihood that Nintendo's new announcements are the next Fire Emblem, a Metroid Prime remaster, and potentially Zelda ports.

Sure, there could be surprises there and I do wonder if Nintendo will choose to announce a title that's currently aiming for a late 2023 release.

I think the Direct will be on Tuesday, September 13 for the US
I'd be inclined to agree with you. Just after Splatoon 3 launches, just before TGS. Seems the logical time to have it.

But then again, dare I place the words Nintendo and logical in the same sentence...

I do think that Metroid Prime and FE will be the big tentpoles if they're aiming for a release within the next 6 months or so, with maybe an Advance Wars date thrown in too. Still, there could be something juicy, We got Splatoon 3 revealed like 18 months before release date.

Time for some prediction, assuming as always that we will get 2/3 first party announcements:

FIRST PARTY
1. New Fire Embelm game (First Half of 2023);
2. Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp (Jan/Feb 2023);
3. Bayonetta 3 (Final trailer);
4. Metroid Prime HD/Remake
5. Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WIld (First official trailer with the title, generic Spring 2023 (release date with the new console))

THIRD PARTY
1. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Final trailer)
2. Alan Wake Remastered
3. Hogwarts Legacy
4. I really don't know

Sony has the marketing rights for H Legacy, I don't think we are gonna see that game in any Nintendo or Xbox presentation.

Sounds good to me! As long as BOTW2 and Mario Kart DLC are there.

B, no question.

Zelda has already been delayed so long that I'm at a "it's out when it's out" point of not caring. Mario movie and Fire Emblem I don't care about. Switch Pro I'm not that enthused about either.

This is likely what we’re looking at, although I think the full BotW2 reveal is big enough to constitute being considered a “new announcement” as well, given how long it’s been.

How dare you pit my love of Hollow Knight against my love of Metroid, Golden Sun, and Advance Wars!

That being said Option A literally only has Hollow Knight for me so Option B is 1000% the obvious choice. Silksong will come when it comes and it will be glorious.

It's crazy we live in a world where what you described is a disappointment that needs mental and emotional preparation.

That Direct would be insanely good.

Option b, ive been waiting so long for prime 4 that i want it more than zelda tbh. I wouldnt be too annoyed if zelda was delayed to the fall.

gimme a third option that undoes industry consolidation and we see nothing but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 and I’m in

Add on GB and GBA coming to NSO and it would be a solid set of announcements for me personally, even if it'd be boring to see very little in the way of brand new announcements.

That being said, I'm pretty sure this is the only calendar year on Switch where, so far, every Nintendo title is actually a brand new game. That mitigates my disappointment at Nintendo dipping into the old port/remaster bag; that, and the fact that Metroid Prime is an all time great.

I don't think it's unreasonable to see Nintendo announce 3 re-releases and be disappointed. For plenty of people, new things are simply more interesting and exciting.
there will always be surprises

we will not just get old shit and leaks in a direct, there will be a little something
My fingers are crossed for anything and everything from Wario Land or Wave Race returning; new Star Fox being a 2023 thing somehow; Famicom Detective Club getting a new game; EPD 9 making another new IP; Astral Chain getting a sequel; Monolith Soft or Grezzo announcing a new IP for 2023.

It could easily be (and probably will be) the case that Nintendo wait until February before they announce much for 2023, though, which is why I'd say Prime, Zelda ports if Jeff Grubb is right, and Fire Emblem (historically over the last decade, a first half release) are the likeliest announcements. If they're also announcing stuff for NSO, and they're also perhaps showing Breath of the Wild 2, that's a substantial chunk of first party news before we even get to a surprise like Aonuma's Barbershop sim.

I really want to make a comment about the Direct timing but I literally said a few pages ago I don't obsess over Direct timing so I'll put it in spoiler tags so it's less embarassing (I apologise profusely in advance)

I remember previous Direct speculation seasons, Nate specifically mentioned "it's not this week/next week" and hasn't yet said that. While that probably means nothing, as Nate can just choose not to comment on the timing until something happens, or you know, the week just started so plenty of time to say such things, I found it interesting to note

Would personally be a very hype Direct for me! But of course, to each their own.

I may be wrong on this, but I think Nate hasn't commented on the date speculation because he doesn't know yet. All he knows currently is a September Direct is planned, and nothing else.

this is my dream scenario

Thank God some smoke for this week.
These 4 unknown titles maintenance can be for games getting added to eShop for pre-order?
I can see Metroid Prime HD being one of them.

So here's the thing that I was going to write an article about however it seems a bit too flimsy for a story.

Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot Camp could release on September 30th, according to European retailer Alza (https://www.alza.sk/gaming/advance-wars-1-2-re-boot-camp-nintendo-switch-d6550120.htm). What makes this a unique case is that most of the games Alza put up without a specific release date usually put a December placeholder date this is an exception. This date has been on the site since Mid July going by the cached page I found on Bing.

has he at least confirmed if it is a direct général or partner ?
Jeff Grubb, who correctly called Nintendo's summer marketing and partner showcase, has seemed increasingly certain that Zelda ports are getting announced very soon and that there is a Direct incoming. If first party things are getting announced, then it's a general Direct.

Timing wise, that makes sense; it fills the gap between much bigger titles that will generate far more coverage. It's also close enough that there's not much time for lots of promotion or for

It would technically work since it’s on a Friday, but it’s also the final day of Q3. I’d lean towards it meaning nothing.
