Zelda trailer in September with title. Second trailer with release date in February. Release in the Holidays Bonus Time Slot of March 24th.

Splatoon 3 campaign deep dive is actually pretty exciting for me on paper, as the game seems content rich at launch for a Nintendo multiplayer title. If the campaign is lit, my hype thrusters are gonna engage. I also don't think this August showcase has any bearing on a September direct. Still locked in for 9/1 but possibly 9/6-9/8 if things get weird.

While Nate has said he doesn't know the branding beforehand usually, I think from what is in the Treehouse Live thing Nate wouldn't have told us an actual Direct is coming in September

I don't see how anyone could think gameplay for 2 games on August 25th would be confused for a September Direct. Realistically, I don't think they could be confused, and Nintendo has been releasing weekly tidbits all summer.
 
Always wish we had a full fledged mass effect type star fox game with a James McCloud origin story in it. Always looked at this guy channel of what a potential big budget star fox game might be.

I'd love a narrative-driven Star Fox as long as it also lets me shoot

2017 was like, the last time a Zelda game was featured at The Game Awards. Ever since BOTW2 was announced, it missed TGA 2019, 2020 and 2021. I wonder what happened... OH RIGHT, Reggie left Nintendo! Reggie (and possibly Sakurai) were the only ones at Nintendo who gave a shit about The Game Awards.

Point is I don't think we'll see BOTW2 at The Game Awards this year, either.

The GA is 3-4 months away from its release so it's in good marketing territory. That wasn't the case for the other GA shows.

I think the only big thing Nintendo did at The Game Awards since Reggie left was the Sephiroth announcement for SSBU.
Also that No More Heroes 3 trailer, but it's obvious Nintendo isn't about the big announcements like the first BOTW gameplay at TGA, or like the Joker announcement things anymore when it comes to Geoff's shows

I don't know if BOTW2 will be at the Direct, but if it isn't, I fully expect Nintendo to state so in the announcement tweet.

As much as I like James? I feel like making a game about him (or at least elaborate on his backstory more) would be akin to the the debacle of "let's make a Sparda prequel!" over on the Devil May Cry side: once you let that cat out of the bag, any remaining "mystique" about the character is gone. And considering they don't go out of their way to answer whether he's even really "alive" or not, it seems like Ninty still enjoys this air of mystery around the character.

That said, while I'm not at all opposed to having a more narrative-focused Star Fox game, I'll always lean more towards the likes of "furry Ace Combat" rather than "furry Mass Effect". Make this thing out to be like a mecha anime as much as possible!

Will we get to hear the “cut” predictions you and MVG did for Nintendo first party from the lst predictions podcast? Or will you just do a new one?
 
I don't think something coming after TGS is impossible but I would definitely question their motivations a little bit

I suppose the core question is "how early do they want to advertise 2023?"
 
To be honest, right now I'm expecting a direct just after Splatoon 3. Seems that the marketing focus is Splatoon till 09/09.
 
Damn, soon theory found dead in a ditch. But somehow I forgot that a new direct means a new Nate the Hate Direct predictions episode soonish, so we're still winning

I'm still partial to the idea this is why the skipped the June Direct this year - everyone was expecting a BotW 2 trailer which they weren't ready to put out

Anyone remembers the 3DS Direct on September 1st that happened in 2016? Showed Hey! Pikmin, Yoshi Wii U port, Maker for 3DS, cool skits in between. And now we will be getting another Direct on the same date, September 1st.

Geforce Now leak? I don't remember Mirror's Edge mentioned there.

But that Lightspeed list is incomplete, they also ported MGS2 and MGS3 to android. Could be a whole package with Revengeance.
 
I'm not thinking that Treehouse: Live is the reason of "later Sept. Direct" when I said that in the previous page

Huh, now that I look at when the delay was announced and if you consider the delay was ~5 months, in 6 days it'll be 5 months after the announced delay. I seriously hope they got everything done they wanted.

I certainly remember the announcement thread on GAF.

Let's just say that we had reached peak NX hysteria by that point.
