StarTopic Xenoblade 3 |ST| Σ Become One

For a Game that has much more walking space compared to Xenoblade 2.

It feels smaller in the grand scheme of things.

Chapter 6 is something. Feels like maybe a Xenoblade tv series might be something to look into cause im disliking this chapter being a lot more cutscenes then gameplay.

Don’t think that’s much of a surprise, Aionios is much smaller than Alrest. Only difference is that most of Alrest is either unwalkable terrain (I.E. the heads of the Titans) or the cloud sea.

The Chapter 5 ending was choreographed in a way you just don’t see in video game cutscenes. Just has you on the edge of your seat the whole time, I felt like I was watching an intense anime like Attack on Titan or something.

Just amazing stuff.

I can’t unhear “Grouuuuuuund beef!” Whenever someone uses Ground Beat, lol. Maybe I’m just hungry.

I hope there’s an update to turn off the chain attack music lol.

It’s something you listen too much and I wanna hear the other music lol.

And to turn off enemy aggression. I do that in Xenoblade 2 cuase I just want to explore. Tho I get if that wasn’t in the base game lol. Will love a new game + with that feature.

20 hours in and I finally reached Chapter 4.

The end of Chapter 3 fight was tricky, but otherwise I have been mostly cruising on Normal mode. Currently at level 33 across the board.

Lol Triton is great, I wonder if they will have any plot relevance beyond this questline.

Edit:
Ah, he's a mix of Poppi and Zenobia, should be fun.

I hope Lanz will manage to get something meatier someday.

I still haven't advanced much in Chapter 5, I just went around to old colonies and have been doing some sidequests, and in the process I picked up roughly three times the number of quests that I finished. Yep, this is a Xenoblade game all right.

No idea where you're hearing it's the worst in the series, but wouldn't asking us this question just add more confusion for you? Are you taking answers in this thread as the definitive answer?
No, just for curiosity sake.
As far as where I heard it, some of my friends said it was the weakest of the 3 and I heard some criticism so I wanted to hear more opinions.
That's it.

Wow this really shows how slow I am when playing rpgs
I'm also 20 hours in and I still have to start chapter 3. And there are people here already at chapter 5
I'll probably finish this game when summer ends.

In my case, it's the curse of the completionist, I just can't keep going forward knowing there's pending stuff to do everywhere. It also helps a lot that I'm loving the game.

To me it's more morbid curiosity
Like "hey what's over there" or "how long can I explore this place with level 50 enemies before I die" and especially "I want to kill this unique monster who is 4 level higher than me so I'll just try until I succeed"
That's just how I play xenoblade

Can I just stress how much I love Eunie’s VO? Switching to Eunie and hearing ‘Yass Eunie’s the boss’ gives me life every time.
Yeah, we can. Eunie sounds like she's always messing around on the field and having fun (clearly evidenced but not only by her non-stop comments about Lanz wanting something meatier), the actress really sells it.

running Lanz as Signifer alongside Fiona and holy shit double Signifer is so good. Every character gets every buff in the game

I stopped changing classes because I lost the combo Break -> Topple -> Daze/Launch

Without it, battles become so much more dificult...
Master Arts are there to customise your classes so you can have Arts with those effects even in classes that don’t have it by default. I’m finding very fun to trying many combinations each time

I am roughly at the same point as you, but already at 34 hours and only level 32. I'm a really slow gamer lol. Stopped using bonus exp to get on the same level as the story enemies again.

Catching up to the thread and I agree with one specific criticism some of you raised. The consuls so far have made a cartoonish villain impression on me, yet the story - and finding out how this world turned out the way it is as well as seeing how the party will react to all crazy revelations - is making up my disappointment in this regard. But there are glimpses of more interesting characters on the consuls' side, so let's see how this will develop.

The game gives me sort of X vibes, which comes as a surprise to me. It's the science fiction aspect of the world/look of the colonies and the menus, the game focusing side-content and the landscape and traveling through it, despite it being made up of 1 and 2's world.

Gameplay-wise, I try to let every character master all classes, but keeping a balance of roles at every point. It's fun and keeps things interesting playing a different style for a few hours.

25 hours and still on chapter 3
Level 32
Already made hero and side quests that should have not considering the suggested level of the chapter.

Having a lot of fun with changing everyone’s class after mastering it.

navigating around that island trying to get to the objective with all those higher level monsters in the way reminded me of X a bit

Holy shit I think I just met the best Hero in the whole game

A Consul-turned-pirate who references the Thames Captain from Xenogears and gives you a friggin’ Blue Mage class.

I am now suddenly much more motivated to go UM hunting.

The game definitely feels like a melding of 1,2, and X for me. But the general themes and vibes are heavy X for sure.

Chain Attacks have drained my enjoyment of the game completely at this point. Gonna put it down and come back to it later when they've hopefully patched up the snoozefest of a combat system/balancing some because this is just incredibly dull, no depth, no strategy involved.

Finally got into the main area of Chapter 5 and got a couple more Hero quests. This zone is really interesting and different, although the map is a bit difficult. I love the sky at night.

Ngl not really feeling this game so far. I'm only on chapter 2 and so far it's been a lot of tutorializing, talking a lot but saying nothing and an extremely ubearable red HUD.
I feel like those games don't really want you to grind, yet here due to the fact you don't start in a bustling city full of quests you're effectively doing old RPG levelling where you just beat up everything you see.

Also, maybe I'm an idiot but is there a way to tell whether a monster will aggro at you? Xenoblade 1's hub was way more clear (both with presense of the eye icon and being much more readable), but here I have a hard time saying what's going to come after me

Why do the smallest zones have my favorite music tracks? That Sword Valley mix in the Wetlands is A+

The aggro indicators from XC1 are gone, unfortunately. It’s something I wish they’d bring back.

As for your feelings: I loved Chapter 1, but started to feel similar to you in Chapter 2. I’d say push through it, though, as the game REALLY opens up and gets going in Chapter 3. Honestly feels like the game doesn’t even really start until then.

Finished the game tonight at around 89 hours - utterly loved the game and ending. Now to mop up side quests and do some of the post-game content.

What the hell.

Some developers really like throwing out best ideas for next games. eh? See also: Estus being gone in Bloodborne.

Is there a general rule? Like, monsters won't attack you once you're X levels above them?

I really think that this is the more mature Xenogame so far

Characters are really well written, no crazy over the top cliché
The story is misterious and dreadful, despite Moebius/Consul being cheesy
The gameplay is a well balanced compromise of 1/2/X in combat and side stories

Great experience

And for the first time I cant wait for the new Hero mission to arrive as DLC

Thise have been great and well implemented so far

most stuff will stop attacking you at 6 levels below, which for some reason is a level more than what it takes to make them show up as gray

although elites/uniques and apparently a couple enemy types in general will still attack you regardless

Yes. I don't know the exact number, but somewhere between 5-10 levels above they stop attacking. Some enemy types seem to aggro me no matter what (like the volfs) but for the most part when I revisit earlier areas I can coast through without being bothered.

Hell, I've done so many quests and fights at this point that I'm starting to get to new areas where I'm already so far ahead in my level that enemies won't attack me.

My one criticism of the game is that the VA's don't have enough direction on commas in the script in the English dub. So many times is a stiled and weird pause is done before a comma that's not necessary. I wish I could help review the script and advise the VAs on how to deliver the lines, it just seems so easy!

Finished Xenoblade 3

What a beautiful ride, I absolutely loved it. The bittersweet ending hit me hard. It took me a few chapters to like everyone in the main cast but by the end I was fully invested in everyone's stories. Biggest complain is the uneven pacing, especially in the second half, and some shortcomings when it came to the writing of the villains.

But damn it was a pleasure to explore Aionios . Immenses zones with beautiful vista, even if the switch often struggled. After the slight disappointment that was Xenoblade 2 and its much shorter zones, I'm glad to find again the borderless exploration of Xenoblade 1 (it almost felt like Xenoblade X in the most alien zones like Elaice Highway).

Visually it was a step up from the previous games, with more detailled and more animated characters models, better ingame resolution and some absolutely wild cutscenes. At this point I would say that only Botw 2 and another Monster Hunter game could be more impressive. I'm really looking forward to see what Monolith will cook for the switch's succesor.

And shootout to Nia for playing Queen and Rex for the hat trick!

Overall my ranking would be the following : XCX > XC1 >= XC3 > XC2

I hope the future expansion will be about the worlds being reunited for good.

LMAO this is pretty hilarious

Noah: Let's avoid fighting Colony 11 by going detour.

Meets Ashera several seconds later

Ashera: wanna join me thrash Colony 11?
Noah: Sure. Let's.

Too bad can't pass through the gate to the castle after owning Colony 11 first lol.

My biggest gripe with the dialogue is their use of commas (grammatically commas mind you) and the VAs not knowing how to have the correct inflection or cadence in their sentence. So many times the characters giving weird as heck long pauses during delivering lines. It's like they need one more pass through reviewers during QnA.

I'm adoring the game otherwise, my favorite in the series for sure.

that Eunie Ascension quest boss was rough

6 levels above the recommended level and first time i've said "fuck it" and dialed it down to normal for a fight since early chapter 3 when I was probably like 10 hours into the game or something

Ok, i take back what i said about the villains being mediocre. I fucking hate 'em to the guts now.

EDIT: i've said that while i was at the end of chapter 5, and in a good way. They're much better characters than i thought they were, at least some of them. Now, after that big segment at the beginning of chapter 6... Hate wouldn't be the word to describe it anymore. But they're still a lot more interesting now imo.

Well I feel dumb

Conclusion of chapter 3 thingies

I didn’t recognize the voice of J at first, so seeing the pudgy guy being Joran made me go whut.

I assume that the Consul, especially N is just Noah, are just original versions of some XB cast members? And with Eunie remembering a past memory where she dies, I guess they’re clones?

Its fun to see the cast respond, Lanz seems to be flabbergasted at every turn

Eunie is just so halirious and she's not even trying to be funny or anything. I'd say Mio is probably my favourite character, but Eunie is definitely a universally loved character for sure.
I'm doing some post game stuff atm, and surprisingly there seems to be a lot to do!
