Kinda meh presentation and Scarlet/Violet seems more of the same so far.
Leaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me

That would totally defeat the open world aspect of the game imo.Leaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me
I truly don't understand how one can make this statement, at least so generally.Scarlet/Violet seems more of the same so far.
Agree! I hadn't played one since Ruby, and I got really intrigued with the last Switch ones, but for some reason everyone said they were garbage. (Never really heard an explanation why though!) This looks pretty good, and I'll probably dive in on it!Looks like you’re in a small minority.
I’ve not bought a Pokemon since the OG Gold and even I thought it looked really good.
Typical gimmicks and not even most of the positive changes that Arceus brought to the formula.I truly don't understand how one can make this statement, at least so generally.
According to the leaks, a lot of the qol stuff from pla is in (which is great) but the action elements are out. Which is a bummer.Typical gimmicks and not even most of the positive changes that Arceus brought to the formula.
See, I've been out of it for a while, but I keep up with the news on Pokemon because of nephews/nieces that adore it. It sounds like these more things are pretty optional in the game, which is actually nice to me since you get to play how you want. Doesn't "seem" like your forced into anything! The NPCs look great and those new Pokemon designs are all excellent. It's going to be tough picking out my team.
There's no set gym path too! Nice. Remains to be seen if the gyms will scale or not.
I intend to ignore the crystal gimmick, same way I refused to Dynamax any of my Pokemon.
Arceus wasn’t planned to be the future of franchise, if you expect future main games (the ones that start new generations) to follow Arceus formula you are setting up yourself for disappointmentTypical gimmicks and not even most of the positive changes that Arceus brought to the formula.
Expecting actual evolution is always a disappointment from Pokemon and GF I guess.Arceus wasn’t planned to be the future of franchise, if you expect future main games (the ones that start new generations) to follow Arceus formula you are setting up yourself for disappointment
I think it adds a small surprise element, like, if both trainers activate the transformation but one of the Pokémon changes to an unexpected typeLike okay, they may change type but...who cares? In execution why do I need an Eevee that's a water type instead of just having...a water type?
That'd be the unwisest decision ever... which pretty confirms it to me it's legit.Leaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me
That's good! More exciting and gives a sense of structure that you can choose to pay attention to if you wantLeaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me
Is this confirmation that the best feature of GSC, statused wild Pokémon, is making a triumphant return? You may see poisoned Pokémon in areas where these Wooper live.
playing it safe would mean another old school linear Pokemon game.I'm mixed about SV so far. It looks okay, aside from performance of course, which I mean, woof. I like the region, I like the new Pokemon they've shown off, I like the character designs. The open-world looks like it could be fun. The new dumb gimmick is at least less dumb that "Pokemon, but beeg", which was so dumb that I refused to play SwSh. Crystallized Pokemon is whatever, I can get over that. Multiplayer does absolutely nothing for me.
Overall, I'm gonna play it and I'm sure I'll like it. It just doesn't have anything that excites me. Unlike PLA, which was exciting as hell. They seem to be playing very safe here.
At this point you're probably right but imo it really felt like thats what they were implying during the direct they revealed PLA.Arceus wasn’t planned to be the future of franchise, if you expect future main games (the ones that start new generations) to follow Arceus formula you are setting up yourself for disappointment
game freak continues to make incredibly stupid-ass game design decision. guess that's one part of them that will never changeLeaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me
I disagreeplaying it safe would be them doing another linear old school Pokemon.
A full open world game is neither safe nor easy to make.
That is just of the three histories of the game, according the trailerI disagree
Make open-world map -> Plop eight gyms in there -> Profit
Open-worlds aren't new or exciting
I very much agree with this.I really don't get the scaling complaints tbh. Scaling is probably one of the most hated mechanics in RPG games.
pretty reducing statement but okay.I disagree
Make open-world map -> Plop eight gyms in there -> Profit
Open-worlds aren't new or exciting
Honestly. This isn’t true. Open world transitions in series are still very much exciting in the grand schemes of things.I disagree

You're right, I'll give you that. The gym challenge is just one element of the game. That is just of the three histories of the game, according the trailer
my problem is that it trivializes the go-anywhere aspect. going left instead of right could mean I get an overly easy experience, especially if there's no obvious signposting of order. even a light scaling would be preferableI really don't get the scaling complaints tbh. Scaling is probably one of the most hated mechanics in RPG games.
I honestly think that this is the most exciting thing about open world games. Getting into situations you cannot predict, maybe even outwitting the game or you fail and learn from it. But to each their own I guess.my problem is that it trivializes the go-anywhere aspect. going left instead of right could mean I get an overly easy experience, especially if there's no obvious signposting of order. even a light scaling would be preferable
I guess I'm not excited by the fully open-world because we just had PLA. And yeah, that wasn't fully open, but the zones in that game are massive. Going to fully open in SV by removing the very occasional loading screen transitions that PLA had doesn't seem like that big of a leap to me.Honestly. This isn’t true. Open world transitions in series are still very much exciting in the grand schemes of things.

No level scaling means I'll look up the levels of the trainers day 1 and follow the order that'll give me the at least some semblance of challenge. Level scaling is bad when done poorly but Pokemon is a very different game from something like Elder Scrolls in terms of combat.I really don't get the scaling complaints tbh. Scaling is probably one of the most hated mechanics in RPG games.
Thing is, how are they gonna make the gyms challenging if your first gym is as difficult as the 8th one? Scaling is really the only way to do that whilst still keeping the ‘choose your order’ freedom.I really don't get the scaling complaints tbh. Scaling is probably one of the most hated mechanics in RPG games.
