Let me hit you all with a real hot take:
Eternal Darkness was a 10/10 game but it was a fluke, Silicon Knights has no talent and employed grifters and pedophiles and that's why we're never seeing a sequel.

This one is actually a real post.
Maybe Eternal Darkness isn't actually real and we all just imagined the game because our sanity meters are low.

Botw was a 10/10 game but it was a fluke, the zelda team has no talent and that's why they're taking 6 years for an iterative sequel in the same map, they know that when the game releases they're gonna get exposed and lose all the credibility they gained with botw.

I really like the design of BOTW. The game has no real quests, you need to figure out how to survive in this world. There is almost no hand holding. You need to think and adapt. Most games are brain dead walking simulators from one point on the map to the next.

You'll be the judge, it's shroedinger irony.
If your goal was to engineer a statement so absurd and pessimistic so as to deal a precision psychic strike while treading the line between fantasy and reality, then well done sir.

I'm actually kind of scared for the botw sequel. of course not having anything new is the main factor but to me the biggest strenght of botw was the sense of discovery and learning about the world and I don't know if the next game will hit the same highs even with traditional dungeons,.
One of my biggest pet peeves with the original was that all the races were old classic races (goron rito zora and gerudo) which were all amazing with their culture and way of lives and I finding more about them was amazing but they were still races that we knew, how amazing would it be to have new races never seen in a zelda game with their own city etc. that's something that I really want and I'm scared that the sequel will not go in that route.

Nintendo probably won't make any big announcements for new games right before live a live or xenoblade but... they could announce a splatoon 3 testfire right? right guys? ahahaha....

Here's my hot take:

I like Nintendo
Holy shit. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from this post. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the fucking fuck do you like Nintendo? This can't be happening. I'm having a fucking breakdown. I don't want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I want you to not like Nintendo and fix this broken forum. I cannot fucking deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought you were polling well in Kyoto???? This is so fucked.

The craziness of your original post aside, this one I can see.

BotW2 discourse will probably be horrible, to be honest.

Given the long development time, the expectation of fan favorite classic Zelda features to return, the expectation of improving what BotW did, while also keeping what made it so great. It’s gonna be impossible to please everyone’s extremely high expectations for various aspects of the game.

i am with you though in that I hope this game expands with new races and stuff. I think we may even see the mysterious Zonai mentioned in BotW.

I have astronomic hype and I guess expectations as well for BotW2, but equally astronomic faith in the BotW team. They're one of the most creative and ingenious teams out there, I'm sure they'll knock it out of the park, reused map or not.

These are all valid concerns, but I choose to put my full trust in the developers, who learned many lessons already in the time between SS and BotW and are particularly responsive to feedback.

A small detail I just remembered is that the Shiekah Slate used to have an ability in the E3 2016 demo where you scoped in first person and had to highlight an enemy for 10 seconds to get its HP value. They scrapped that and incorporated it as an inherent feature of the Champion's Tunic, no longer slowing down the gameplay. It shows how they are constantly making refinements down to the wire.

The patents for three of the sequel's mechanics show such imaginative flair that I'm not surprised they're taking this long, even with the COVID delays. I think they are aware of the expectations they have to meet.

I think "asset reuse" has broken people's minds. A game can have reused assets but still take a long-ass time because there is still new asset creation. Would there be serious complaint if the sequel had 33% reused assets and 66% new ones? (probably, because people like to complain) I think if they wanted a quick turnaround they could sold another Expansion Pass to the millions of existing BotW owners for that guaranteed revenue.

I am def on team Sunshine lol I love that game!!!! Granted I love all things ocean related but also liked how Mario moved in that game too

Sickening that, once again, the tweet speculation thread isn't speculating about tweets.

Nintendo need to tweet on the hour every hour every day to keep everybody's focus in the right place.

When you see Stylux being a hero and Samus being a fraud, you know you are living in a very weird universe.
Well this is the Sylux hunter and the Samus hunter. Still makes sense. One does not just hunt Samus successfully.

They really don’t like Samus Hunter.

Starting to look personal.
I don't think you choose a name that's a derivative and parallel of another ""leaker"" without there being something more to it.

/s if it wasn't obvious

It's a fun game

EDIT: yes, it absolutely has its flaws, and I will never say that it is a perfect game, but I didn't mind the FLUDD or the more linearity of the levels. I liked the setting of the world, and the characters were fun.

Here's a real take, I hated Mario sunshine the first time I beat it 100%, but after completing it 4 more times 100% I started to like the game a lot. It's a really good game.

This is just the usual Nintendo marketing of focusing most of their marketing attention into the next upcoming game. XC2 overperformed Nintendo’s expectations so now they are putting more resources into it. If Nintendo thought it would underperform they wouldn’t spend millions on marketing like they are doing lol

nintendo‘s faith in a basic jrpg, Even though they own the studio is rather baffling to me personally.
uninspirng character designs, bland Level design (from the impressions I have gotten), predictable story, slow and tedious combat. X3 does not look good at all In my opinion. I would expect better from Nintendo than to put so much faith in that game.

That take isn't hot, it's cool
I'm fact, it's actually

Way past cool
I still plan to play some of the games, even forces since I got that for free on ps plus. That doesn’t even look all that bad too me. I just think some of the sonic hate seems overblown

Granted, I’ve only played the very first sonic game.

This quite the hot take, Since we would have to ignore 30 years of game releases prior to BOTW, I believe it's around 88 or so GOTY awards from various outlets not counting BoTW's release. Plus all the 90+'s on review aggregate sites.

This should be a bannable post.
