He also just rarely includes Nintendo in his edits because he is so badly chasing that "cinematic" feel because he seems to think it gives him validity, and Nintendo games don't always align with that.

But yeah, I absolutely don't expect Nintendo to be involved in SGF at all.
Fair, though both Xenoblade 3 trailers are chock full of cutscenes and those generic hype quotes that Geoff loves to splice together on these things

Just watched this
So there’s like literally zero Nintendo games in this trailer lol. Guess we shouldn’t expect a summer game fest partnership if there were even any hopes there.

Really sad to see Geoff just leave them out that easily though, missing such a huge part in what’s supposedly an industry celebration

Meh. Never expected Nintendo to work with him. They barely work with him at Game Awards since Reggie left. As long as Nintendo has their direct in June I’m happy.

Geoff just wants money and views. He would definitely want Nintendo in his show. Just look likes they don’t want him, which probably isn’t surprising considering his marketing and set up isn’t in tune with 99% of Nintendo games.
Exactly, there's very little reason for Nintendo to be in his show when they would do just as well, if not better, on their own. Why compete for mindshare with several other companies when you could have a Direct separate from all that and have the spotlight all to yourself.

We’re 3 weeks from Microsoft’s presentation. I’m super excited to see Starfield gameplay. Not sure if we’ll see anything from Fable.

This is the week for the presents announcement and next week is the week for the direct announcement I feel it in my bones
Was it this board or another one where someone said there was a pattern of other tech companies not doing big news the week of Apple events, which is the first week of June? Anyone know how true that is? Because I wonder if we’re doomed to the second week of June for the Direct

Which honestly I feel like is likely anyway based on other years

Guilty Gear Strive was released in June 2021.. there's a chance we see the Switch version in the next direct

it would be super cool to get another big fighting game on the console

Why you think It’s coming to the Switch? I dont remember any Arc System late port that isnt from licensed IPs

I'm pages late to this because I stopped getting updates on the thread for some reason(?) but I wanted to make sure I responded to all of that with:

I don’t think Geoff is the one who left Nintendo out really, is more Nintendo not wanting to take part of the event and nothing realistic he could do could change that.
Agreed. Im sure geoff would be more than happy if nintendo wanted to show stuff at his shows.

I had given up on Mario Party Superstars dlc. I don’t get why it didn’t get it. It’s primed for it. You can add so many N64 boards. It feels like it’s too late for an announcement now
I feel NDcube would rather move onto the next Mario Party instead of doing DLC but I wouldn't give up yet.

I guess they're working on Superstars 2. it's a bummer because Superstars is pretty good and deserves more boards and characters.
At least, we'll get Super Mario Party 2 next year..

Xenoblade's trailers are cut in a more "japanese style" if that's a thing. I think if you want something more fitting for a show like Geoff's, you'd need a new editor

So Geoff Keighley just announced in Spaces that they doing SGF Judges Week, so expect stuff leaking very soon.

Nintendo have been less and less involved with Geoff since Reggie left.

Last year they had a game nominated for the biggest award and didn't announce anything on it.

Reggie talked about this. It really was his relationship with Geoff that made Nintendo show up and you can completely see it. Such a huge event and you’d think the business people nintendo are would use the venue even when Reggie is gone

I agree, but I think it goes more in line with Nintendo feeling that their games don't go that well with what Geoff push at his show.

I think they’ll save the N64 boards for a Mario Party Superstars 2 down the road.

I feel like it would be more likely for them to do a Gamecube Superstars with content from 4-7.

I was hoping that they would save GCN boards for Superstars 2. Shame we only (probably) get 5 boards on Superstars 1.
I just thought we’d get dlc boards then a Superstars 2 would be remade GameCube boards. It would suck because a Superstars 2 with GameCube is even worse. Now we’re talking about 4 games instead of 3. If they do the same 5 boards from 4 GAMES it will be sad. They’re going to skip over a ton of boards.

DK The Jungle Saga....

I have one month to deliver my master's thesis, and I still have a lot of work to be done because I can't get satisfiying results... Plus I'm gonna be handling a super massive project at work alone because one of my co-workers quit, this next month is gonna be pain...
I just need the direct right now... That adrenaline and joy of watching it is amazing.

Predictions and Dreams for the Direct (in order):

Predictions
  • Metroid Prime Remake
  • Bayonetta 3
  • Zelda WW/TP Port (I don't believe in a double pack, one or the other)
  • Donkey Kong
  • Fire Emblem (Core one)
  • Casual game
  • Some DLC for an established Switch game with a big install base (like they did for MK8)

Also maybe NSO Gameboy (because Nate spoke about it a long time ago, but maybe thats more a September direct thing.)
I expect Splatoon 3 to have its own focused Direct.
Pokémon SV info 1/2 weeks before the Direct + a spinoff announcement for Switch.
I do not expect a new Mario to be announced.. 3D, 2D or spinoff.

Dreams:
  • BOTW 2 Trailer !!!
  • Resident Evil Switch
  • Shadow Drop MK8DX Booster Pack
  • Next 2D Zelda
  • Rhythm Heaven Switch
  • Metroid Prime 4 Trailer
  • Some more smaller 1st party games (specially from series not touched in a while, like F-Zero, Nintendogs, Chibi Robo, Mother....)

Hmmm. I see our friend, Nathaniel Drake, is asking on YouTube when will Nintendo hold their Direct…all the options are in June.
Yup. I noticed he asked if tradition will hold or if they’ll go later than usual. I wonder if it was deliberate, maybe implying it’ll be later than June 12-18? (edit: although later than tradition could also be Thursday the 16th since it’s not E3)

I agree, but I think it goes more in line with Nintendo feeling that their games don't go that well with what Geoff push at his show.
I kinda feel like it's this. the last several years, it's hard to look at their lineup and say "that fits". what's weird is that shit like Mario and Pokemon actually fits with their audience but I can see some folks snubbing it because it looks more immature. but if TPCi said to watch it for SV reveals, you bet your ass people would show out for it

I was wondering the same with the way he segmented the dates. But I guess he’s taking in the whole week. Nintendo won’t do a direct on the weekend though.

Yeah, Nintendo fans show up to the TGA. Fire Emblem won the Fans Game of the Year.

It's weird from Nintendo's part, but Geoff always paints his show as the spot for huge "Next Gen type of games".

Bayonetta 3…

well, yea, but with no proper trade show, just an internet show, there's no real reason to participate when they can just upload like they always have
We’re talking about E3 or the Game Awards because the original conversation was the Game Awards, which they could show another trailer for. You can never not promote Bayonetta 3 enough.

Sure they can but that trailer will probably appear elsewhere. And, people should really stop expecting much from Nintendo at the Game Awards at this point.
