Don't worry, the best DK franchise is soon getting a new entry on Switch

Next Mario game on Switch will be this one.

I hope Donkey Kong's next game is something new. I'd love to replay DKC: Returns and I'm sure an HD version will be released at some point, but give me something new Nintendo!

Yeah, the issue with DK is that there is a lot of overlap with Mario and just purely from a financial standpoint, it's harder to justify having the Mario team work on a DK game over a new Mario game. If Nintendo want both series happening concurrently, there needs to be another team working on it but with Retro working on Metroid Prime, I can't think of anyone else at the moment to pick up the series. I think any of the obvious picks either don't have experience with platformers or are likely working on a different Nintendo franchise already.

So best case would be for a new internal development team to work on the franchise. This may already be happening for all we know. But I do think that's the best option if people want to see DK games more regularly.

I hope my physical edition of Chrono Cross will arrive next week. Looking forward to not playing it because I have no time lol.

Keighly really wants the Summer Direct to be on the SGF.

Since I have no Twitter I'll bite here:

  • Eternal Darkness: Revenge of the Ancients
  • New fighting game IP (think Killer Instinct meets KoF)
  • Actraiser III (is S-E IP I know, a person can dream)
  • The Quintet trilogy remasters ft. Soulblazer, Illusion of Gaia & Terranigme (see above)
  • Skies of Arcadia Legends remastered (yes, it's SEGA. Still....)
  • Super Mario Sunshine II (you know you want it!)
  • Legend of Zelda Maker
  • NES Remix 99 (free for NSO subscribers, but there's a physical edition too like Tetris 99)
  • Nintendo World
  • Mario + Rabbids II
  • Astral Chain II
  • Super Nintendo World Cup (Kunio kun in HD-style, it will be glorious!)

and loads more.

Not quite my dream Nintendo game, but I do really want the EPD 8 2D game to be their take on Donkey Kong.

Not sure what my dream game would be. Astral Chain becoming a franchise would be great.

Oh if we're counting 3rd party games that Nintendo could announce themselves then
  • Chrono Trigger HD-2D, along with the SNES version on NSO
  • Chrono Break, handled by MonolithSoft (since a lot of them worked on CT and Xenogears was meant to be CT2 at first)
  • seconding your ask for the Quintet Trilogy
  • seconding your ask for Skies of Arcadia
Totally standalone, fleshed out Subspace Emissary 2. Built from ground-up as single player experience with the most fanservic-ey cutscenes ever.
Seconding this as well

What will be the chances of having access to Baten Kaitos, either remasters of Eternal Wings of Origins, or a new game, on modern consoles? I'm quite afraid that IP is dead and buried :(

My dream game is a full on remake of Super Mario RPG, which I expect might actually already be complete but they are just waiting for SquareEnix to lock in a release date for the upcoming Final Fantasy 9 remake, so that they can launch SMRPG:R two days afterwards, because they are apparently feuding right now or something idk.

Also I guess brand new Endless Ocean, Chib-Robo, and Wave Race games. Oh and somehow a new Goemon game. I don't care who actually owns it, and neither do you.

New Donkey Kong isn't a dream game imo since it's obviously coming this holiday. Can't wait to see what body horror mechanic they've given DK so he can be one of the cool kids again like Kirby and Mario.

Considering the Klonoa 1 and 2 pack, BK is not so distant from that concept, you can also just do a simple HD job with the background and X2 and call it a day

Now it's when I kill your hope  : Yasuyuki Honne is the head of Monolith Kyoto which their only job at the moment has been supporting EPD titles and it seems like it's going to keep being like this.
pd: BUT they said in 2018 they were looking to expand the studio so they could make their own titles!

True true. I do not expect anything. I would just be glad with a remaster of the first two games. Especially since we didn't get Origins in Europe. I'm dying to play that game.

I.... wtf???? How did I miss this???? :ROFLMAO:
Getting rid of all of my social media accounts has me kept out of the loop I guess.

This makes me really really happy!
I'm so happy I got to tell you about it, it's my most looked forward to game this year besides XC3

Donkey Kong Country Kremling Katastrophe
see, as much as I love them, the problem with bringing Kremlings back right now is the klear Kold War konnection

I mean if Advance Wars was delayed, I don’t see them eager to release something with a less direct but more literal connection to a trivialized Russian state threat

My dream game would be a new RPG Mario game. I love the first 2 Paper Mario games and respect that they wish to do something different with the series even if it's not for me, the Mario & Luigi series for now is basically dead until the decision is made to resurrect the series, and I like the Mario + Rabbids game, but I am not the biggest fan of tactics games. My runner up would be a Star Fox Adventures 2 that moves past Andross and gives us a new villian and story.

I just want Xenoblade X on Switch but it’s probably a bad time for that, so give me P4G for now and I’ll be happy. Also the rest of the Dragon Quest series.

What if they rename them? Like the Kroclings?

With or without collision detection?
With of course. Or maybe you have miis in wing suits and jet packs vying for the same tiny target.

Edit: but seriously they’ve already announced the dream game for me (Metroid prime 4). There’s a ton of stuff I’d love to see brought back (rogue squadron trilogy, f zero) but I wish I could think of something totally new.

This is what I wrote on Discord to answer the tweet, "On a serious note, I don't know what else can Nintendo announce. I feel like the Switch is complete. I'll take the games, sure. But I don't think the Switch is missing anything. Just give me BOTW2 as a swansong and get ready for Switch 2."

Custom Robo, Pikmin 4, Chibi Robo, F-Zero. Any/all of the above and I know I'd be vibrating in my seat at a very ecstatic pace.

Honestly Starfox Adventures 2 would have me ecstatic; the first game was my real first Zelda title if I'm being honest and for having full voice acting and cutscenes, it's what people didn't realize they wanted when they asked for it in the run of games copying the OoT formula. Could be something to try for those who still want that traditional Zelda formula if it can also fit in some appropriate guided rail shooting for the Arwing sequences.

Well, I do feel Ubisoft should do something with the Prince of Persia-franchise on Switch. Dunno why, I just feel that series really fits the Switch. (And I of course want it really bad haha!)

If they can take the time to put some work into the Arwing levels I am for it! That is the only downside to the Adventures in that they were tacked on because the game was an original IP and development switched to become a Star Fox game. If a new game was in consideration I would like them to take some ideas from KI: Uprising and SF: Assault in that you start the level in space and work your way through an enemy fleet in space, go down to the planet and land on the planet and that would be the start of the area you explore.
