I love Gravity Falls with all my heart, but a lot of the disturbing stuff was just on the surface level. With Avatar The Last Airbender and now The Owl House, it's disturbing on so many levels and it gets worse the more you think about it.

In this episode alone we have...
  1. The reveal that Belos is a witch hunter trying to commit genocide on the whole Demon Realm. He's tricking everyone into helping him by acting like a prophet.
  2. Hunter is the latest in a line of clones. Belos killed all of the previous attempts after they failed him. This naturally causes Hunter to have a complete breakdown, after which Belos tries to kill him and Hunter barely survives
  3. Hunter is modeled after Belos brother/friend. There's easter eggs hidden all over the ending sequence majorly implying that Belos killed him as well (there's a painting of Belos facing down the first Hunter with a knife, then first Hunter lying on the ground with Belos staring into the knife's reflection in anger)
  4. Belos was manipulating current Hunter into getting ingredients for his next clone replacement
  5. We get to watch one of Belos' first mass murder attempts using magic. It doesn't fully work and the one of the victims is left on the ground in agony
  6. Luz unknowingly helped Belos in the past after idolizing his previous identity, leading to him hurting her family in the present and technically setting the series in motion
  7. The palismen souls Belos has been using as food were still living inside him all this time. Hunter unknowingly helps Belos presumably kill them all for good
It's fucking dark.

Not clicking on the spoiler, adding Owl House to my watch list as I just found out Alex Hirsch is involved ❤️

Edit:
Apparently Disney considers Owl House to be an anime:

They're not wrong lol. Just a warning though, the first season doesn't really get good until the second half. Then season two stomps on the gas and is on it's way to becoming one of the best seasons of animated tv ever.

Rock on. Appreciate the heads up and the recommendation. I need more animation in my life.

Yall I'm so proud of myself.

A friend of mine said something about spoons, and I just kept up with the conversation instead of derailing it with pictures of The Tick.

I'm getting better at pretending to be normal.

…you know you’re British when you see someone say “said something about spoons” and automatically assume they’re talking about the pub, Wetherspoons, instead of the item of cutlery.

Hey, was Everybody's 1-2-Switch secretly canceled because its internal reputation was so bad?
Maybe? The release schedule has also jumped around over the last month or so - Advance Wars delayed for an unknown amount of time, Zelda delayed to spring 2023, Xenoblade 3 brought forward to July. I hesitate to say "Splatoon 3 delayed to September", because that could be the original planned release for all we know, but it is launching later in the year than the first 2 games did.

Maybe Everybody Switch is another reshuffled game.

No one has said otherwise yet so assume it is still happening and it’s likely it will have a fairly short reveal to release.

Imran Khan had a tweet just this week speculating release dates and there was one he said “you don’t want it” for August. 1-2 Switch seems a likely contender for that description. May and August seem like the most likely current contenders.

After Nintendo revealed Xenoblade Chronicles 3's release date with the anti-delay strat (still recovering from that) I wasn't expecting them to unveil Splatoon 3's date as well, but lo and behold. It's pretty clear how Nintendo originally thought of Splatoon 3 as their July game (right before Obon) but couldn't make it in time; thankfully Monolith came to the rescue. Not the way you usually see "soft" delays handled (Splatoon 3 was never originally confirmed for July and September 9th is still Summer, but we can safely guess that September wasn't the original plan for the game).

Now, there's only one game left among Nintendo's upcoming slate which is in need of more informations since its original announcement and that's releasing soon enough: Mario Strikers Battle League. Expecting a batch of info (and maybe a demo?) to drop next week. Don't expect anything the week after the next one since it's Golden Week. Still wondering if 1-2-Everybody's Switch (or whatever its name is) can still make it for May with an announcement next week and a release towards the end of May; it is a game aimed at a more generalist audience thus it won't need a big announcement-to-release window anyway.

My work week has been too busy to make time to play video games. Now, I am too tired to play video games over the weekend.

Just one of those weeks.

Aonuma has now apologized over 2 million times.

Most of those views are from barbers looking for inspiration.

Anyway, I finished Oracle of Seasons. Onox wasn't as frustrating as I remembered, but I still used a lot of save scumming in that fight.

I'm particularly proud of not using a guide at all, not even for that ice block puzzle, and I didn't really remember much either from when I last played it.

The Oracle games had been sitting quite low on my ranking, more by default and I just liked most of the rest of series more. And I still think that's right, at least for Seasons. It's a pretty hard game and I'm not a glutton for punishment and a lot of the difficulty comes from the design philosophy of the early games of throwing shit and you from all directions so you just get torn to pieces trying to do basic tasks.

Still pretty great though. The seasons mechanic actually works really well as it allows you to see for the most part what you need without trial and error. The dungeons, despite a few frustrating moments, generally had a nice flow to them. The subrosians were fun and I always love it when Link gets some different kind of action.

15 GB for Xeno 3 is not a lot. The proprietary compression technology that Nintendo uses really is magical
Yea, it's funny to me since on PC big AAA games have been sitting at 80+ GB for a while now. Largely due to the increase in texture sizes to support higher resolution displays, voice acting everywhere, etc.

Also it's kinda crazy that Xeno 3 will take up at least 1/2 of the onboard storage on a base model Switch

Same here and now work sprung something on me at 5pm yesterday -- an extremely important presentation -- that's due by midday Monday. And I don't get OT. Fucking pissed.

The subsurface scattering on Mario's ear is nuts

Also, the article seems to word it weird (they talk about textures but it seems to apply to models) but is this patent for a technology that will eliminate clipping?

That's kinda been on my mind since this shot in the Xenoblade 3 trailer:

Eunie's poor hair must be like quills or something. 😅

As the ultimate DK fan here on Famiboards, I hereby suggest a site implementation where everytime someone Yeah! your post you hear the "OH BANANA!" sound from DK 64.
Ha! I recently thought the same thing, but wanted to be the sound of Mario grabbing a coin. But then realized how awfully fast annoying that would be 😂

DK as a franchise could be way bigger if Nintendo gave it a little more love. It could totally be another pillar like Kirby. Potentially even bigger.

It was nice doing field work this past week but doing it for three days straight after being in doors due to Covid for so long and having MS is rough on the body. And I'm also still committed to keeping up with my exercise routine (mostly upper body stuff) because I am finally getting into a habit. But man, my body is sore and my back hurts like hell. I think it's just going to be a quiet day of Chrono Cross, Splatoon 2, and maybe some shows.

DK games are already bigger than Kirby ones (as a character I'd argue Kirby is bigger) , the difference is that DK has no studio dedicated to make games due to the lose of Rare and Retro returning to Metroid, while Kirby has HAL which is an independent studio that pretty much only makes Kirby games. Only if Nintendo wants to bring back DK to EPD or some third party pitches a DK project that Nintendo likes we are getting a new DK game due to how big DK is though I see it happening even if probably will take a while, maybe once EPD completes their expansion?
