This sounds suspiciously like something a Wario might do.
We're getting both. The connection won't be highlighted because anyone who
I've posted this before about
Star Fox or
F-zero or both (I think it was bridging both), so here it is again:
Nintendo specically wants a stinky hprseperson character to put in
Smash Bros. I don't know why. Pretty sure it was Miyamoto's idea.
On that note, a brief look back on the
Star Fox discourse. Now, there doesn't seem to be any reason to think
Star Fox would come at the expense of
F-Zero or
Kid Icarus or vice versa, since that general concern has come up a bit.
That said, it seems reasonable to want good new games in those series, and also in
Star Fox. To suggest that people shouldn't want a good new game in the series because new entries have been underwhelming doesn't quite track, though it might be worth asking why people remain so attached to the series. This could be any numbers of reasons, such as sentimentality or liking the characters.
The end point, though, is that we can cheer on and hope for good new games in each of these series.
And how these games could be. It would be no surprise to see
Star Fox appear as something other than a pure railshooter, and I expect
Kid Icarus would take yet another form. This can be forgiven, so long as we are blessed with
Sin & Punishment.
Kid Icarus does present its questions. Given the radical shift in identity in its most recent appearance, it could take most any guise. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see it return to a 2D game at some point, perhaps taken on by Mercury Steam as the sister franchise to
Metroid -- it makes a surprising amount of sense.
I have no idea where I was meaning to start with this, nor where I was going from there, but I think I might stop here before I ramble on.
So, yeah.
Great games for all!
