This thread goes so fast, a few hours ago this was still around page 80!

Interesting to read about Fire Emblem, I always liked Fire Emblem but dropped 3 houses like a brick a few hours in, it couldn't grab me the way the other games did. I'm glad to read that it will not follow the same direction as 3H and that is goes its own way.

I'm feeling the vibe here, that weird vibe of a hundred adults mashed together screaming in a kettle full of custard jelly and actually enjoying it.

All this Fire Emblem got me hyped up. I can never get enough of those. I liked 3 houses but I wouldn't mind they try something completely different. I'm all in for new classes and game play changes. What I leas liked about 3H was the map designs. I hope they improve those in a major way.

I believe someone brought up that it can't happen that day, it would be bordering on a Japanese national holiday.
Google says "National Foundation Day' is February 11th. Nothing on the 10th, but I guess 11pm on the 10th is pretty close to the 11th.

All the more reason why it's clearly the 9th.

There it is. I'd imagine the staff would get off early that night, so I don't see the Direct taking place on that day.

What's the consensus on a splatoon 3 test fire being announced in the direct?

I just want to play it.

Really badly.

I'd do anything to make it happen this week or month.

I just realized, Famiboards is going to have its first pre-direct meltdown on Tuesday at 9:01 EST when Nintendo doesn't announce a direct.

I hope we get a Direct this week.
The meltdowns are about as fun as the directs themselves tho haha

Does "pre-direct" mean "soon before a direct" or just generally "before?" Because if the latter, I think our first pre-direct meltdown was during the Keighleys. 😅

As is my tradition ahead of every direct, I fully expect this to be the direct where we finally get a new Super Mario Strikers. Or even just the original one remastered (please, I’m begging).

I’m ready to be hurt again.

how would you react if there is a warner bros loves switch trailer announcing batman arkham collection (ayslum, city and knight), middle earth shadow of war/mordor and mad max ports ?
I’ll only be interested in Ayslum. Everything else I wouldn’t care in the slightest, but I would think it’s weird they waited so long, granted maybe 2020 had an effect. But still shows a lack of foresight on their part for the years prior.

I’d check Twitter on my phone until a more interesting thing showed up

I have a meeting Tuesday at 9:30 that I’m already expecting to make me very angry. So this is either going to throw gasoline on the fire or float me on a cloud through it.

As far as the quality of the map design/gameplay goes, I think KT can probably do some really good stuff with the mechanics they made for 3H, assuming they're all (or most of them, at least) brought back. Two in particular that I think have lots of potential as far as map design goes are the huge squads you can command (maybe enemies can use this mechanic in the new game similar to how enemies gained the ability to pair-up in Fates?) and the multi-life bar monster battles—the latter of which could be used for more "traditional" boss battles, which FE doesn't really have. Aelfric from the DLC is the best (only, really) FE example I can think of, dunno if I'm making any sense.

Plus there will probably be some new mechanics on top of the polished old ones, too. Plus plus they were already trying to make better, more unique/varied maps in the DLC, which is a good sign for this upcoming game imo.
I thought the huge squads command was rather underutilized. I thought there would be more to it but what it did do was prett fun. Gambits were a life saver at times or a benefits for a defensive approach. Limiting movements or creating a shield that every thing causes 1 damage were pretty cool. I hope to see much better expansion to that system.

For Maps I feel it was the results of the 3 routes as a lot of maps were reused and they had to limit your team to just 10 people which is rather small compared to other games. Seems the focus was too much on the gameplay at times.

The 3H DLC was pretty fun actually. But it didn’t get nearly to the level of creativity of Conquest or the Fates DLC which I felt had some good challenge and ideas.

Should be optimistic tho. They got their engine, their game to built off of and a lot of feedback. Usually what they respond to feedback and improve the next game in a lot of areas that were lacking previously.

It won't happen, but I'd be more interested in the PS2 LOTR games. (Not sure if EA still has the rights)

Will be extra intense since this thread is essentially a super concentrated resetera direct thread. No dilution so the takes will be extra potent.

veeeery late to the party here, no idea what's even speculated that hasn't already been announced but so long as I see Bayo3 I will be ecstatic

For some reason not a lot of people are expecting it til E3 but I see no reason why it COULDNT be in this one

I'll go crazy and say that we do see Zelda with a title and Holiday 2022 date. But its just another small teaser with the promise of more later in the year.
Title sure. I don’t see why they’d need to reiterate the release window again. Obviously this is going to be the focus of their E3 Direct, especially now that there isn’t going to be a physical E3 with a booth to showcase it.

Good: Direct this week.

Better: No Direct this week resulting in prolonged pain and suffering of this board.

Best: Advance Wars release date announced and trailer posted to Twitter on Wednesday, casting doubt among the masses if there is even going to be a Direct this month.
