I mean Nate explicitly said they had a very minor involvement.
True, but "they" is wrong as the company wasn't involved. I think it would have gone a long way if he was more specific.

The "Monolith worked on Pokemon Legends" claim has become the new "Monolith is third-party".

He’s been right on things before. He’s been doing this for years. And yes he’s gotten stuff wrong. He hasn’t been the greatest leaker of all time, but he is pretty good overall and does know when directs are coming.

I don’t think Covid has helped leakers these past couple years with plans keep changing.

I pretty much trust Nate without doubt on timing at the very least

when he says something is happening something will happen

Right. That’s why I said he knows when directs are coming. So if there’s anything you want to take away with confidence from him it’s at least that.

He’s the person to say a new Fire Emblem is coming this year. And he seems very very sure of it. We’ll see how that plays out.

It can be hard to remember who said what and who said what first for me. You got VGC, Nate, Emily, etc and it becomes so jumbled up in my head when I try to recall rumors of the past.

yeah the monolith thing was weird

he didn't outright say monolith helped on pokemon, he said people saying they should have will see or whatever

honestly not sure of the intended interpretation

Has it been confirmed that the next FE Game is not going to be a Genealogy of the Holy War Remake?
We got 2 FE games on the way, this year a brand new FE mainline game by the same team that made Three Houses and in 2023 will have FE Genealogy remake developed by Intelligent Systems.

As always, I’m just hoping to see Silksong. Give me that, and I’ll be happy. Don’t give me that, and I’ll be sad.

Fire Emblem

New Fire Emblem game
1-2 Switch “sequel”

A Mario spin-off. Probably a sports game imo if true.

I haven't actually seen any rumor suggesting a 3D Mario with the movie.

I rumored it a while back

Thanks. No new DK, right? That has been rumored for a while. Has it been debunked or just no new news?

I guess the one other thing that comes to mind is PLA DLC for this holiday.

2 or 3 game reveals is all I expect from Nintendo 1st party in this Direct. 2022 lineup is stacked that they don't need to talk about anything releasing later than summer outside of the typical Direct finale they like to do.

Considering we have 4 unannounced 1st party games that are highly rumored for this year (FE, XB3, Prime HD, casual stinker) that's probably what their announcements will pull from.

Like thinking about 2021's Directs, these were the new games they did then.

February: Mario Golf, Miitopia, Skyward Sword HD, Splatoon 3

June: Metroid Dread, WarioWare, Mario Party, Advance Wars

September: Kirby, Bayonetta 3(first non-logo reveal anyway)

I think I’m getting to a point where I’m expecting too many Nintendo announcements in the direct haha. I gotta dwindle it down…….
yeah keep in mind the direct will focus of H1 to June, and we already know quite a few upcoming releases from Nintendo.
They may tease a few things outside that period to balance it out a bit , and focus more on 3rd party releasers for the period and or updates to NSO.

That's the one thing i noticed when i browsed the upcoming releases on eshop, it's pretty sparse for major 3rd party stuff, so we could get a big direct just on updating games from 3rd parties.

Because this mentality has gotten us so far in the past lol

There hasn’t been any new rumors on the DK game. Whatever rumors there are is it as of now.
DK is in a strange spot. Rumors suggest that it’s in the works since earlier 2018, right after Odyssey. That’s fitting, considering all the DK easter eggs in that game. Going by the dev cycle + Covid, 2022 doesn’t sound far off for the title. You can argue that the rumored solo film is coming next year so maybe they want to postpone it and sit on the game. Same goes for the theme park, but that’s slated for 2024+

So they won’t be able to do everything in one year anyway. If the game is finished, I think it could be released this year. And I hope so.

I agree. I could definitely see it this holiday. When will they announce it though? To me it’s up in the air between this first direct and E3. If it’s something big and really ambitious I could see it announced now. I am leaning towards E3.

Yeah, going by the rumors they are really taking this seriously, like a „DK Renaissance“ (which sounds so sweet). I think it also depends on other platformer projects. Both the 2D and 3D Mario teams should have a new title finished soon as well.

February and June's Directs were packed on first-party news, but that reflects how empty the 2021 calendar was going into the year:

February: Miitopia, Skyward Sword HD, Teen Super Hero DC I Don't Remember The Exact Title Girls Game, Mario Golf, Splatoon 3 (plus Triangle Strategy and Famicom Detective Club confirmed for international release)

June: Metroid Dread, Advance Wars Reboot Camp, WarioWare, Mario Party Superstars (plus Cruis'n Blast)

We haven't had an E3 for Switch which confirmed that many Nintendo games for release in the same calendar year, but going into E3, Nintendo only had Zelda and Pokemon in the second half. In February, the only games with solid release dates were Bravely Default 2 and New Pokemon Snap, and we didn't have anything with a generic "2021" date.

Right now we're going into February with Kirby and Triangle Strategy dated; Advance Wars down as 'spring' but with a specific April 8th date on some eShops; plus Zelda, Splatoon 3, and Bayonetta 3 as 2022 titles. Really depends whether Nintendo feel like they can blow the lid off of most games they plan to release this year, or if they're content to leave it at games releasing into the summer and waiting for E3 for the rest of 2022. And sure, they could also settle on a middle ground between the two (like 2019's marketing).

The arkham games coming makes me happy personally

Happy for the people that want to (re)play them on the Switch but just like with the Ezio collection I haven't really felt the urge to go back to these. I could maybe see myself play Asylum again but I bet they're going to sell it in a bundle.

why are they putting batman on the system that can't run kirby at 60 fps

Punishment for not buying Arms.

Direct hype is truly at an all-time high right now ^^ Though from looking at others' predictions, I'm surprised no one has predicted a new Mario & Sonic. The 2022 Winter Olympics did just start after all
