This is the ultimate weeb Direct I could think of. And this is me holding back on stuff to add. I was going to add Yakuza remastered collection, Mass Effect trilogy, Scarlet Nexus, Nintendo acquiring Hello Kitty.
The ball is in your court Nintendo.
This direct prediction goes hard. It's not just a weeb direct; it targets every subgenre of weeb for even those who claim they aren't weebs.

Custom Robo would thrive on Switch, just a wish of a hopeless romantic

Different colour joycons unlock different robo parts/colours to use in your build (or at least faster than grinding to unlock them)

All I'm still missing are the handheld game successors, which we are more likely than ever to get with how many big titles are on the map and the Wii U Port well drying up.

Dread (sort of), Wario Ware and Advance Wars started things off, now I'd like..

  • Original 2D Zeldas (wind waker art style bonus points)
  • Kirby Mass Attack Sequel
  • Nintendogs revival
  • Rhythm Fucking Heaven
  • 2D Sonic (Rush style)
  • Pokemon Conquest Sequel (didn't play the original but why not)
  • Wario Land

And also these, but more console-tier scale
  • Kid Icarus
  • 2D Mario
  • Mario RPG
  • DKC

And then while I'm dreaming
  • Splatoon spin-off (assuming 3 stays pretty standard with its story)
  • Turn pokemon home into an actual game like stadium
  • Pikmin
  • Kirby Airride 2
  • Wii Sports Resort Sequel

Whoops this turned into a Direct speculation post lol, where's my editor

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition
I want this SO much. Lats time I played this game was the game's launch in 2008 and I've been waiting for 14 years to replay it. I refuse to play it anywhere else other than a Nintendo handheld. Come on Capcom, don't be stupid, bring this shit over.

I would lose my shit
I'm going to will it into existence, let's gooooi

Everyone who has ever owned a Nintendo system is a weeb, they're just in denial. They know.

This direct will unlock their weeb soul.

I haven't played it since the original release on PS3 as well, it was my first game on the system and haven't even finished it.

It's about time for this to release on Switch as well, it's been a while since DMC3.

The emulator and QA are complete. Just up to Nintendo to bring them to NSO. For whatever reason... they are sitting on them.
My personal wild theory is that the Pokemon Company wants to sell their GB games separately, so Nintendo is holding the emulator until they put the Pokemon GB games up for sale so they don't undercut each other.

Everybody Loves Horses: Horse Horse Horse Horse Horse Horse Horse
also ftfy (thanks @Brofield !)

also I’m doubling down — if the name hasn’t completely changed and still includes “everybody,” it’s gonna be

Everybody Switch

this is my stand. I will taste glory or eat crow.

wait a minute was it “everybody” or “everyone” … ?

I feel like a Color Splash port partially
depends on whether Intelligent Systems have the resources to make a Fire Emblem remake for 2023 and a new Paper Mario for the next due date for the series, which is 2024. Remastering older titles in the PM series is an option, sure, but Color Splash is probably the least intensive option resource wise.

Nintendo also have the option of simply not having a Paper Mario title ready in 4 years' time, too.
I know we are talking WiiU ports, but wouldn’t it just make more sense to upres Thousand Year Door and release that? Color splash really brings nothing to the table I feel. On a tangent, Nintendo needs to figure out a way to bring Nintendo Land back. Not sure how it is done, but the game was so amazing. Would have to do multiple switches I feel, but that has been done with lots of other games.

It was a bold strategy comparing Stadia to the Atari Lynx, NES Powerglove and Sega Dreamcast

I remember reading about this when Frank Cifaldi was asked to pick this stuff for the displays and was flabbergasted how random it seemed. I should go back and find the tweets about. Was definitely not a good omen choosing those things.
Put NES remix in the NSO package (i don't care which tier)
This is a great idea. Can also rework it to link you to the NSO roms so you can instantly go play the full games if you want. Just need to do a SNES version as well.

Nintendo's HD re-releases, bar 3D All-Stars, haven't tended to be simple upres jobs, even if some of them are fairly minimalistic remasters. Wii U ports are easier because it's a case of moving a HD game over and because before Switch was even on the market they put in place procedures to make it easy to port Wii U games over to the system (Iwata actually discusses this in either 2014 or 2015, though obviously doesn't mention Switch).

It's also entirely possible that between Intelligent Systems, EPD, and outsourcing, there's a big enough team to still get a new Paper Mario out in 2024. They've got a good basis to work from, after all, with two HD Paper Mario games under their belt.

A TTYD remaster would be lovely but I just can't really see Nintendo highlighting such a game with a fullblown HD remaster considering how it pretty much goes entirely against their intended sanitized image for the Mario brand these days, particularly that of the spinoffs.

So in that sense, unfortunately I really do think we'd be more likely to see Color Splash brought over instead lol

TTYD remaster is definitely possible, sure, I was just saying Color Splash is the most efficient choice if they need a re-release and can't get a brand new game together, but that doesn't mean that's the choice Nintendo and IS make. TTYD would obviously be less work than a brand new game, and could easily make use of another external team.

Something I'd actually really like to see IS work on is a new Wario adventure/platformer which builds on the playable cast of the new WarioWare. Platforming and exploration where you use a few of the cast at a time to explore, and their different abilities and playstyles allow you to explore and advance in different ways. It could even be a merger of the Ware and Land series, and a sort of Wario Metroidvania. And then they could go wild and have it playable by four people at a time and boom, four-person Metroidvania using the Wario cast and

... the world will just never be ready for that, will it?

Fire Emblem this, Xenoblade that, Splatoon, Triangle Strategy... The way I'm going to be devastated if this doesn't turn out the All Star Weeb Direct it's hyped up to be lmao

TTYD Remaster

  • Use Origami King's engine
  • Add boss rematches like OK has (with higher difficulty)
  • Fix chapter 4 so there's less going back and forth on Twilight Trail

I'm so sad that we'll never get this

Nintendo did allow for that Bowser's Inside Story remake on 3DS, for some reason. They even let Alphadream make some new OCs for the Bowser Jr. side story, like a final gift before they went under

Maybe the only reason they greenlit that is because they knew no one would play it lol

I'd love to see Color Splash on Switch if they remaster it instead of just porting it. Redo the whole battle system and introduce some QoL changes and it could be one of the better Wii U ports.

The only remaining Wii U port I can see the reasoning for charging standalone $60 for is Xenoblade X. Great way to get another open world game on Switch and it’s stunning, just show the vistas and skells and watch it skate past a million.

Woolly World would bomb at that price and WW and TP have been ported before and thus would probably sell even less than SS (3m) if they were sold for $60 AGAIN. I see a bundle, which would be very hype and create positive buzz. Easily soar pass 5m

There's no way you can earnestly think anything not niche or anime Nintendo puts out bombing is even a possibility when GBG sold a million.

WW and TP have been ported before and thus would probably sell even less than SS (3m) if they were sold for $60 AGAIN
For most people the Wii U HD remasters essentially don't exist, it's may as well be a brand new thing.

Look, I get it, you want games for cheap and so do I but coping like this is no good. They will be $59.99 plus tax each with little to no new content and you will buy them anyway.

Yeah, I definitely don't think Wind Waker or Twilight Princess would bomb on Switch. The latter was enormously popular at the time of its original release, and has never had a re-release on a popular platform - it launched on Wii U when the system was dead in the water.

While I personally see Skyward Sword's Q3 figures as disappointing, the game is at 3.85 million sold, has outsold the original release, and will land somewhere between the 4.5 and 5 million mark over time. That's a good result for classic Zelda. I'd be surprised if TP and WW standalone releases failed to achieve similar or better results, depending on release timing.

I want GB(C) on NSO yesterday. Not because I care all that much about it. There are some games that I would happily revisit, but I am not aching for it.

No, the real reason is that it gets us one step closer to GBA on NSO. Return of the King.

another non-earthshattering predictable prediction that I’m rallying hard for to keep my mind off the literal nazis targeting healthcare workers in Toronto right now

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were never a double-pack and will never be a double-pack

yer getting each with minimal changes from Wii U if we get them at all

and I really hope we do because I loved Wind Waker HD and want it on Switch as is

The real question is does Nintendo add motion controls back to Twilight Princes and make right handed link the standard for that game again? Left handed link is the best, so I hope not.

Yeah the double pack stuff would make sense if it were most other companies, but Nintendo doesn’t do that great of a deal unless it’s a limited release. lol

why though

like it’s HD and looks good, they don’t need to remaster anything

the battle screen will be on the screen instead of split off but I feel like it would work the exact same. what would changing the battle system do? it was designed to be a certain way, and several people didn’t like it, but what change is there that makes it closer to what others wanted without like… completely undoing the whole game?

also… what QoL changes?

Not remastering the visuals, but adjusting the rest of the game. Difficulty settings, frame rate fixes, fixing coin exploits and enemies disappearing after leaving battles. Then fix the battle system to be less sluggish. I don't know exactly how to do that, I'm not a game designer, but most people hated the slow battle system. If they don't change it the game is dead on arrival.

My preference would be stand alone releases with extra content and instrumental and orchestral music and I'll repeat this until it happens or I vanish out of existence:

Wind Waker HD + Four Swords Adventures HD + Tetra's Trackers HD

Twilight Princess HD + Link's Crossbow Training HD

Let's gooo

Also 60fps Zelda was pretty sweet in SS:HD

With over 100 million units sold we’re officially in the “single digit percentage of the install base buying a game to break a million in sales” territory. Yeah, there is no way any Nintendo game bombs in this environment. Granted, there are people who own multiple switches but they’re also more likely to buy Nintendo games anyway.

Fuck, I'm so glad I'm not working evenings anymore. Now I can see "the Direct might be on Wednesday, Feb 16th," and think "next week would be nice but that's fine by me!" instead of "fuuuuck, I'll have work that day and I might have to miss it"

I have little interest in revisiting WW or TP so it doesn't really matter to me personally how they are sold... but I have this thing where I find bundles of games that are only tangentially related wack. It should be a Wind Waker + Phantom Hourglass remake bundle, if anything, goddammit. As bad as the latter is

I say this with no disrespect to mr drake

but even I could've told you charles liking a tweet about nintendo wasn't him leaking

what companies?

the Zelda series is so varied, nothing ties WW and Twilight Princess thematically together at all. like… what, they were both on GameCube?

it’s not like an Assass’s Creed Ez Breezy Collection or Nate Drake’d the Trea$ure Trilogy or Grand Theft Agony 3D All-Stars or any of those

it’s not even like the Super Mario 35th D Actual All-Stars

it’s two unrelated Zelda games

linking them is a) wishful thinking and b) the fact that they both had HD versions on Wii U

they will not be packaged

they will not be unified

they will not be all-stars
