So countries are now buying up gaming companies, huh. So how long until

gaming companies start buying up countries? nintendobuysjapan.jpg

Yeah, I bring my Switch to murder trials all the time
Someone tell Nintendo to pull Karen out of retirement. It’s time to film a new “lifestyle” commercial!

That's what she said.

Or he.

Whichever way you swing.

...I'll see myself out.
Glad someone knocked those carefully set-up pins down! I had a “That’s what (I wish) she said” all queued up and ready to go, if not. 😀

It didn't even come off that way, I just wanted to take this opportunity put aside the shitposting for a bit and share some more serious thoughts of mine for a change.
Reported.

There was this episode of GI Joe where Cobra Commander or whatever steals people’s faces and they look like this. I had nightmares for months (maybe even years) as a kid. The only other vivid recurring nightmare I had involved a deranged Teddy Ruxpin trying to kill me. 80s stuff was actually terrifying.
I didn’t watch a whole lot of GI Joe, but that episode scared the crap out of me, too. One of my recurring nightmare dreams from 80’s stuff was a large, angry, murderous gorilla in a cage. Most the time the dream happened inside our local bowling alley, but he would pop up in other dream-settings too.

It's the Game Gear 2.0; I loved my Game Gear back in the day (it was my first portable system), but I remember having to carry it in another case since it wouldn't fit in my bag and this is giving me the same vibes.
Heck yeah! I had a black zip-up rectangle case (with a messenger style strap) that had spots in the bottom to hold my Game Gear, my Super Wide Gear, my AC adapter, games/batteries, etc…

amazingly people can say "it's nothing" and save 2-3 syllables

a very silly expression
What's the point of saving syllables when hearing your own voice speak eloquently while saying nothing of any value is so much more fun?

Didn't realize nothing burger would cause such a negative reaction. I've always seen it as a phrase to mock something that's utterly pointless and silly, like the whole GTA thing is.

One particular horrible orange man popularized it to the extent that it's now kinda associated with him.

Did he? I tried googling the phrase and the some of the most recent widespread uses I could find of the phrase was pundits mocking republican obsession with Hillary Clinton's emails as a "nothing burger".

For the record, I hate Cheeto Dust and voted against him twice.

You know what, maybe it wasn't him actually. Could've been his Fox news cronies. I can't remember exactly who started using it (and my psyche is very thankful for that).

Either way it became associated with conservatives.

Ehh, it's been used as a phrase to mock absurdly by people all over the political spectrum. I dispute it being associated with conservatives.

Quickly dropping in to ask: anyone here (been) playing Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Switch and knows whether there has been any kind of patch so far that addressed the performance?

You may be right. That's just what I associate it with I guess.

I feel like at this point the answer is either

A) Still Dragon Quest

B) Monster Hunter

C) Some mobile gatcha game I've never heard of
During the 3DS era, Monster Hunter and Yokai Watch were above Pokemon in Japan, and Dragon Quest of course was right there with them in individual game sales if you include the multi-platform releases.

By the time DQ11S came out, ironically, Pokemon was already above Monster Hunter again and Yokai Watch was becoming irrelevant. In general, the Switch era has really cemented Nintendo as the best Japanese publisher for Japan, not just the best console manufacturer for Japan. Animal Crossing and Pokemon are the biggest series in Japan right now.

It's good because Nintendo puts a lot of hard work into their series, but also a little concerning because I'm not sure what just made competition absolutely stop and fall off a cliff, lol.

I'm sad at what happened with Yokai Watch. I loved the first two games. They weren't hard but they were charming and I loved the atmosphere they had.

3 I started but never finished. I still have it and want to restart it one day. The combat was actually more engaging and I like the Yakuza 0ish 2 character set up. Also Hino must be a big X-Files fan like me, because Mulder and Scully just being characters in the game will never not be amazing to me, especially that intro of theirs had me howling with laughter.

I would love Yokai Watch 4 to actually get localized but that's put the window I guess, makes me sad.

But yeah Yokai Watch was cool, it's basically what old people thought Pokemon would be back on the day, the hottest thing that would rapidly burn out and be forgotten. If Level 5 had managed it better it would still be healthy and around today but alas.

I mainly play in portable mode. Is the oled version worth it? I have the monster hunter rise switch
Everything looks better on the OLED IMO (resolution is still the same though, and also slightly less bright than LCD even at full brightness).

That said, I'd check the hardware rumors first to see if we're expecting something new this year.

Pokémon Legends Arceus is the best Pokémon game. There I said it.
Like, ever ever? Because there I disagree. It’s great, but it doesn’t do enough traditional battling for my taste. The exploration and Pokémon catching is wonderful, and there I’ll grant you it’s the best the series has ever been. But battling definitely takes a backseat to that, and battling is my favorite part of the games.

If Gen 9 has this style of exploration and catching and matches it with more team vs team battles, trainers, gyms, elite 4, etc, THAT will be the best Pokémon game of all time IMO.

Man seeing Gilvasunner page go down hurts. I hope whoever impersonated nintendo do a massive takedown gets some sort of penalty or something. Its the only music i listen to while doing work. Man...............

Nothing more fun than being on hold to speak to your specialty pharmacy for a drug approval. Kill me.
I had to go through one last year and it was such a pain. At one point they insisted I had to pay like 1k per prescription until I eventually got redirected around the whole company and find out it was really like $5 lol.

Nintendo took those videos down - it wasn't someone else impersonating them.

Can I just say, NIntendo's output on Switch hasn't always been great, but damn, it's so good.
All I'm still missing are the handheld game successors, which we are more likely than ever to get with how many big titles are on the map and the Wii U Port well drying up.

Dread (sort of), Wario Ware and Advance Wars started things off, now I'd like..

  • Original 2D Zeldas (wind waker art style bonus points)
  • Kirby Mass Attack Sequel
  • Nintendogs revival
  • Rhythm Fucking Heaven
  • 2D Sonic (Rush style)
  • Pokemon Conquest Sequel (didn't play the original but why not)
  • Wario Land

And also these, but more console-tier scale
  • Kid Icarus
  • 2D Mario
  • Mario RPG
  • DKC

And then while I'm dreaming
  • Splatoon spin-off (assuming 3 stays pretty standard with its story)
  • Turn pokemon home into an actual game like stadium
  • Pikmin
  • Kirby Airride 2
  • Wii Sports Resort Sequel

Whoops this turned into a Direct speculation post lol, where's my editor

Hmm, I wonder if we'll see a new Grezzo game this year? They normally have multiple projects at any given time, but they've only released one game (which was a remaster of a 3DS game) since 2019.

I saw that but some said that it was not true.

Either way the Gilvasunner is gone and it hurts.... :(

I'm gonna go with Occam's Razor on this one.

Either some random troll decided to manually block over 2,000 Youtube videos to make a company look bad, and Youtube went along with it unknowingly.

Or the company with a prolific history of being incredibly protective (one might say 'Scrooge-like') with their IP, and not afraid to use legal means to do so, did it.

I just realized your pfp is not Ellie from TLOU2 and actually the dude from arcane.

Not related to your comment, it was just a big revelation for me.

I'm sure it was Nintendo but AFAIK Content ID isn't manual, it's automated based on files provided(?).

Oh, OK. My mistake there!

But, yeah, I'm not giving Nintendo the benefit of the doubt on this one given their history. It's not like if, say, Sega decided to suddenly start taking down fan games.

Just had my second party wipeout on Dungeon Encounters, 35th floor.

Single enemy, attacks straight away, bypasses magical and physical defence, OHKOs all four party members.

Disgusting.
