So they are adding NPLN to Mario Kart 8. With Nintendo you can't be certain if this means more years of Mario Kart 8 or that Mario Kart 9 gets announced the next month.
 
I nominated New Pokemon Snap for best casual/party game because I couldn't let that trash tier Mario Party franchise, which tasteless Nintendo fans love so much, go unopposed.

If any Mario Party fans are mad, you can fight me with your skinless hands that were ripped apart because of the time you spent playing that tug-o-war mini game.

Whether this is speculation or confirmed, this makes my heart sink knowing that it's still extremely unlikely Smash gets th3 NPLN treatment given how stubborn Bamco are about online in general.

(I know it wouldn't dramatically improve performance but lord that game's online functionality needs all the help it can get)

Finally, finally, finally beat Halo Infinite. Head empty. Just vibes.

Time to resume Banjo casually, MAYBE finally beat Pikmin 3 over the next couple weeks, and then alternate God of War and ME Trilogy.
 
The real reason for the mario kart maintenance is too add Goemon as a free character. Along with a teaser for Mario Kart x Konami Krazy Racers.

It looks great and even when people give their criticisms of it, the criticisms are just... bad. Like, they're stuff that I want from a game but everyone hates.

That said, I haven't played the first one...

I feel the way the sequel is set up it doesn’t matter too much. There’s about 80% new characters to 20% old and while the old characters have big moments, the story is mostly about the new characters and villains. They give you enough context to understand the returning characters, but leave out enough details that if you went back to the first one you’d still have a good time.

There’s a free demo to try and your save transfers to the full game. Not all the big systems are unlocked, but it gives a good idea of the game’s tone.
 
I just had a weird thought (an actual thought about videogames instead of shitposting). I dunno if this belongs in the RPG thread or if it counts as Speculation or what, so I'm choosing to ruminate in General.

So there was sooo much smoke around Chrono Cross being unveiled in December, and it wasn't. TGA came and went, and the smoke went away. And I've been wondering about that specifically because of the Another Eden crossover. It was obviously intended to come out in conjunction with CC (and that datamined code proves it (if it was real)). If the release was delayed due to covid then I get that but if that were the case they should've at least revealed it during the big crossover event, right? It seems so weird that they'd let the crossover be this big thing then hang and fizzle.

But then I got to thinking about how Nate said he heard it might only be coming to Playstation. And that led me to wonder if maybe, maybe some deal was finally struck with Nintendo super late in the proceedings where it would be on Switch after all, but as part of it Nintendo would give the game a Direct slot, thus delaying the reveal until the next Direct (in February).

Would that track, yall think? Isn't it so far the only game in the Nvidia leak that missed the listed date?

I think it just got delayed in general and Another Eden couldn’t move its event as a mobile game. Exclusive talk has always been weird to me. Chrono Cross is my favorite PS1 game, but would either company fight over it? I don’t think so.

I don’t want to dream to get my hopes up, but one way I could see it happen is if a platform holder funded an exclusive third Chrono game and suddenly Cross becomes way more valuable.

This week: PLA which is having an absolutely bonkers blow-up in Japan pre-orders since previews dropped last week.
Next week: Nintendo's earnings calls which will probably have some minor announcements but also stuff for people to analyze and discuss for a few days
The week after that: Nintendo Direct seems mostly likely.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this community responds to the next few weeks. It's going to be awesome I can feel it.

Yeah, it's gonna be a very interesting few weeks. For those who've missed the leaks or the buzz around the leaks (maybe the more casual Pokemon audience?), Legends could well take some people by surprise.

Also, we'll finally get a figure for Dread and we can spend months fighting about how it is or isn't a flop.

Disclaimer: I don't know who this dude is.

But it's absolutely possible that he's a YT reviewer or a streamer who's partnered with Nintendo in this case. Both would likely get a review code without issue.

After not touching it for several weeks, I finally deleted Dragalia Lost. Been playing it regularly since launch. It was fun while it lasted and I will always hope for a console game in the same setting but I grew bored of the mobile game.

The other one was Scarlet Nexus which I downloaded on Game Pass. Didn't enjoy the demo that much but thought I'd still give it a try. Looks clean af but couldn't get into the combat system so I gave up after a few hours.

Don't even know how to feel anymore. Do I even like Japanese games anymore? Or do I now have to play games exclusively starring characters that look like they could be drawn on Metal album covers?

If that's the case, combined with other early impressions, it seems Nintendo might have another winner in their hands. Maybe this will encourage them to further change the Pokémon formula.
 
For whatever reason last night before bed my brain had a dumb thought that it feels like Marvel is handing out their licenses like Halloween candy these days. And then I woke up sad this morning that we probably won’t see a Vs. series compilation because who’s got the time to build a Naomi emulator on top of porting MvC 3 to the current systems.
 
I answered Super Nintendo Switch on the poll. It makes sense and it would be a nice call back to the Super Nintendo which is one of the best Nintendo consoles.
