Hey! Pikmin is a super under-appreciated game. I know @TheMoon will back me up here. And the moon is the size of billions of Pikmin. But yeah it's a brilliant translation of the series into 2D and I hope other Pikmin fans here like Raccoon enjoyed it a great deal. The only miss for me is the choppy framerate on my OG 3DS for one of the levels. It made it feel impossible to get a Gold medal in that level. And they were really tough to get to begin with. But that's just part of the fun of Pikmin - mind-numbing difficulty to 100%. See also the brilliant and underrated Pikmin attraction in Nintendo Land.
I am co-signing the praise, however I would like to clarify that while I did put on some lockdown-pounds, it wasn't that much :p

Hey! Pikmin is a fantastic game and another one of those games doomed to necessitate eternal defending by people dunking on a game they've never played before and around release. The music as well hits you with some occasional Wise-ian vibes. It really is a brilliant translation of the concept to a 2D sidescroller.

was looking at my wishlist and noticed great ace attorney chronicles is on sale so had to get it. considering how much of a takumi fanboy i am i feel embarrassed that i haven't played these games still.

edit: the sale ends in 2 days in case anyone else wants to get it.

Paper Mario Update. Just finished Lavalava Island. In my opinion, it’s easily worse than the previous couple of chapters. Definitely a lul point for me. Still a great game and I’m still having a ton of fun playing it.

You're in for the biggest ride ever. Easily surpasses the OG trilogy and my GOTY for 2021.

Hey! Pikmin is another one of these weird takes on established IPs that nobody asked for which Nintendo loved putting on the 3DS, just like they did with Metroid Prime Federation Force or Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash. I didn't hate them and appreciated some stuff they brought to the table but I also felt they were misguided and held back in various ways. There was a weird combination of developer, platform, IP and timing that just never came together for ay of them and the reception reflected that. I guess back on the 3DS developing games was still cheap enough where they could try stuff like this and hope that it sticks.

oh god, that's high praise! i can't wait to start it.
It honestly is. The first game is all about knowing the characters/character development and sets up the overarching plot. Then...the second game is insane, utterly insane. Starts at 100% and somehow stays there in all cases.

By the end, you will cry because of the beautiful journey that you went on with the characters.

I honestly can't praise it enough. It's Shu Takumi at his finest.

I've been saying for years: Dragon Quest Builders 2 is genuinely incredible. You should check it out! It absolutely would appeal to Animal Crossing people.

You can even play it in first-person, the way god (Yuji Horii) intended Dragon Quest to be played.

Is there anything PlayStation and Nintendo fans love to fight over more than Persona, Dragon Quest, and Monster Hunter?

Loving how our chapter opinions are generally different but we can still agree the game's pretty great. Opinions are split on 6, but 7 is a nice change of pace and has some of my favorite music in the game. Enjoy!

I just went through and added almost every single indie game that has caught my interest over the past few years to my wishlist on Deku Deals. I have 34 titles on this list now. Not all of these are gonna be purchased, mainly using this to look through for a new indie to get when I have the time or the inkling to try a new one. Still, it’s great great to see how indies have proliferated on the Switch vs. the Wii days.

Only an hour left until Banjo-Kazooie gets added to NSO EP 🤡
Gotta say, I really hate it when Nintendo announces something is gonna get released in a specifc month, but not even mention the specific date.

I remember this happened with Min Min in Smash Ultimate almost two years ago (wow), they announced an ARMS character was going to be announced in June that year, but they didn't even say when in June. And of course they decided to wait until the very end of the month to reveal and release Min Min. It was like that with Hero back in 2019 at E3 that year, they gave us an even vaguer reveal date of "Summer 2019", which once again was until the very end of July. At least Banjo-Kazooie (whose release date was "Fall 2019") were released/showcased in like the very first week of September.

lol don't NSO additions tend to happen in the evening?
Ah poop, you're right. Clown emoji was precautionary but I guess I exposed my ass early lmao. Well, 45 minutes until announcement of B-K being shadowdrop announced at least! (I hope 🥲)

Big fukken same, it gets a little infuriating at times. Mostly I'm just waiting for them to announce the February game next because I want to maintain some semblance of faith that they're not going to let this dry out early so fast like Wii VC.

Suddenly i realized how many RPGs (action or turn-based) i've been playing lately. Ys VIII, Octopath, SMTV, finished Xenoblade 2 and Torna some weeks ago... Then i decided to start another SSHD playthrough in order to "take a little break" from RPGs. I love RPGs, but the amount of games i was playing was just too much.

That's when you realise Skyward Sword is an anime action RPG as well... there's no escape.

I get the feeling though, sometimes I like to play a shorter game in between.

I feel like I try to play other genres when I need a break from a particular one but then I usually don't end up enjoying myself and the time was better spent just not playing games at all.

I bought The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles on sale two days ago and just finished the first chapter. Before buying it I wasn’t sure if i would enjoy the setting and the completely new cast. But damn this game is sooooo good already. Really looking forward to the next chapter!

Oh, you and me both 😂 I've had about six albums come in over the mail in the past two weeks (and two of them unexpected!), and I've already pre-ordered The Weeknd's new album too. I'm trying not to buy vinyl recklessly as a new year's resolution, but Seth Rogen did a whole infomercial on Houseplant's new vinyl disc selection for sativa, indica and hybrid sessions and just...I am kinda stoked to check those out ahaha
I've calmed down on vinyl lately but I definitely went through a period where I was getting new records in the mail like twice a month at least. Although I was thinking about checking out the local record store today. 😅

My contribution to the pet pics (thanks @Suswave for reminding me about hide code lol):

The pet raffle is officially much more popular than the food raffle. Y'all like pets more than food, huh?

I'll never say that someone should buy a Switch game just for the home screen icon but Final Fantasy XII comes close.

It stands out from the other Final Fantasy icons which are usually just the logo on a white background. It's also different from the actual boxart of the physical copy which is rare for Switch games.

Home from work and finally weekend. Got time for my booster shot in 13days and soon time for gaming and a whiskey. Today is a good day!

I'm a simple man. I see a screenshot of a courtyard with a bell, I beg for Chrono Trigger.

speaking of which , I haven't seen @reconceptualize around in a while. Hope all's well, dude, I miss my Chrono back-up.

Hey, friend. It's been a long month and looks to be even longer year, but things are much better than they were. Hope all is well in here (and someone please e-mail SE about the gosh-darned Chrono Cross remake - I'm beginning to feel like Elmo screaming at a bloody rock about that game).

for horse incinerator enthusiasts, a tiny update

I recently found out you can animate in Procreate, which has drastically improved my workflow

here’s a little animation I threw together for the title screen

to anyone confused about what this has to do with horse incinerators, I’m working on a goofy little game demo straight from the abyss. there is a horse incinerator in it.

My favourite are the records I pre-order and don't come for at least six months so it's a nice little gift to myself 😋 I have The Horrible Crowes 10 year anniversary record in gold and silver vinyl coming next month (despite owning the original print on purple vinyl...but I do love Brian Fallon's scratchy vocals doing a cover of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream haha). God, I really want to hit up my local shops too as soon as possible. My elusive holy grail remains Redbone's Wovoka, and it's probably one of the few records I seek that I want the pleasure of flipping through stacks to find rather than just order online and be done with it haha

I mean, despite having their outstanding Come And Get Your Love (which also has a FANTASTIC music video released in 2020, like damn)

It's the title track which reguarly gets stuck in my head about once a month (one day I'mma learn the sax part)

Get Redbone in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame you cowards

I’ve been looking for photo editing tools for my iPad. I,prefer using that over my computer at times. I got a copy of the original dill spowser photo. If that stinky horse game has some good material I could use to edit this for a new avatar or two

wow, I had only heard popular Redbone songs out of context

knowing more about the band makes me appreciate them more

…definitely found “Come and Get Your Love” annoying when I thought it was a bunch of classic rock white boys…

Honestly for everyone's first exposure to them via Guardians of the Galaxy or F is for Family (or the TikTok trend of cutting off the song after the first 'WHAT'), I completely understand the sentiment.

But now you get the pleasure of enjoying their discography further! Wovoka is honestly a jam, I love that song so much
