Oh no I didn't know about the controversy surrounding The Messenger due to a "joke" that was in a early build that was removed after criticism, plus some Jordan Peterson nods that made into the final game

Well it's not like I don't have plenty of other stuff to play between backlog and upcoming games anyway
 
Games Done Quick about to start with Nioh 2. If you squint hard enough, you can imagine what Strangers of Paradise could have looked like.

my most durable laptops have been Lenovo if that helps. Never had Acer though lol.
People talk sooo much about Dell but I've had horrible experiences with their products from first unwrapping them to "I give up" (their customer service is top notch though).

There was something else in the free DLC that rubbed me the wrong way too, one of the dialogues from the shopkeeper about beauty and the beast. That shopkeeper character in general was probably the most extreme example of someone self-inserting themselves / their views into a game that I can remember.

Interesting, I've almost always used Dells and they've been fine (or so I thought), but they do all eventually break down. I figure ~7 years is a pretty good life span for a computer though, especially a laptop.

mine were all doomed from the moment i first turned them on. IDK why. I just think I won in the lottery. My Lenovos lasted ~6/7 years, yeah. edit: I mean, one of them. The other is lasting longer than my Dells tho

You know what needs a switch port? The remake of the original Super Robot Wars. It’s so sad it’s languishing on ps3 considering it has multiplayer

I've been saying this for a while.. but if Nintendo don't want to do anything else with the Diddy Kong Racing brand (outside of maybe re-releasing the original on NSO.. it's our best chance), they should fully implement the elements of the game in Mario Kart...

Put the DDKR tracks as Retro Cups (you already have gliding and underwater sections almost ready, just need a bit of tweaking), get the classic Kart designs, and, of course, keep Diddy permanently in the roster and bring Krunch along.

And God knows how much I want a fully fledged adventure mode in Mario Kart like Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing... but that I feel it's asking too much..

An adventure mode in a niche series such as Mario Kart is simply too much, sorry.

It was such a joy to talk to the residents of Toad Town after every chapter and see how their dialogue changed, plus checking out the sign next to Merlon's house after each chapter, going to visit Luigi and seeing the letters, the post office, all of it.

Dry Dry Desert/Ruins/Outpost/Oasis is such an awesome vibe.

Also, buckle in for Chapter 3. IMO, one of the best chapters in either of the classic PM games and such a versatile experience. Keep us posted on your journey!

@Skittzo if Ravens can win this they might sneak into the playoffs since the colts look likely to lose. Just can’t have a raiders/chargers tie. I guess Miami needs to not win too.

In theory, yes. Pretty sure YouTube uses lossy compression while CDs have no compression.
 
Happy to get into the first real meaty week of the year and have the holidays firmly behind us. Not that I didn't enjoy some time off and relaxation, but it's always nice to get back into things and have the news pick up again. This week I'm expecting at the very least that we'll get Arceus previews, since it'll be two weeks prior to launch.

Taris is maybe 40% of my time played on KOTOR so far - cleared Dantooine, Tatooine and Kashykk. Taris really is a slow start. Glad it's faster going now and very much enjoying it.

For the sake of variety, after KOTOR I'll do No More Heroes 3, so that I'm breaking up the RPGs a little. Think I'll try and start Psychonauts 2 soon, and take a similar approach on Series S and do something short before maybe finally trying Lost Odyssey. I've got Dungeon Encounters to get around to, as well, and that's the current pile to get through before Triangle Strategy.

Not only does Youtube use lossy compression, but sometimes the audio is compressed in the game as well. I've seen instances where game OST CDs are higher quality and sometimes even mixed a bit better than the songs in the game itself. Not saying that's always the case, but I've seen it done. If you're concerned about quality the CDs are probably the way to go.

Mario Kart 9 revealed at E3 this year for a spring 2023 release. In January, following continued rumours of Switch Pro, Nintendo confirm Switch generation 2* launches in April 2023 following a behind the scenes delay from a planned late 2022 launch. Mario Kart 9 becomes the cross-gen launch title for new Switch.

Mario Kart 9/10 on Switch any time soon is a signal that new hardware is nowhere close to launching. Even if they go cross gen with it; launching it for the first time along new hardware is 100% the way to go.

Switch getting a new Mario Kart game in its 6th year would be the most Nintendo thing ever, so it’s probably happening.

Latest Attack on Titan episode is so good. Despite reading the Manga, the anticipation in the anime is just that good.

Not a particular fan of either series, but I am rooting for Pokemon Legends and Kirby this year. Change direction and do good things, oh comfortable old friends.
 
It’s hard for me to imagine Kirby being bad. Maybe a bit too easy and bland and on the overly safe side, but based on what we’ve seen so far, not bad.
 
Forgotten Land will be at worst average; No matter how 'badly' the translation of the Kirby formula ends being in 3D, there's no way it would be bad.
