Missed this yesterday, but I don’t know what the consequences of entering into a contract with xghost777’s essence would be (lest your Fami existence fall into misfortune)

Amazing, thanks!

On a completely unrelated note to the stellar visuals of the logos - not sure why I’m feeling like ボーヅ would sound closer to how Boards is pronounced compared with ボーズ (this in my head sounds like Bors)

I doubt Nintendo does anything new with Earthbound/Mother without Itoi and he said he's done with the IP.

Let's be fair to itoi, he's 75! He should be enjoying his retirement, not spending a few years working hard on a videogame regardless of whether earthbound getting a new title hinges on his involvement

Endless Ocean means I'm super excited for this. What a special series.

My cousins would always ask me to play it whenever they came to visit.

if tomorrow's Partner Showcase has a host, we will finally definitively know what separates a mini from a General, even though we sort of knew that already.
I'm just gonna paste my response to Roger here instead of repeating myself:

oh wow, i didn't know the endless ocean games are the successors to a series the dev did for capcom

The differences are interesting!

I played a lot of Everblue 2 as a rental until I finally got my own copy at a convention not that long ago. The first one never got released in the states, sadly…

Everblue 2 has a big emphasis on “dungeons” believe it or not. There are a multitude of wrecks that you go and explore as part of the story that you can salvage from to get money. My favorite is a big cruise liner… it has a big room full of sharks at one point that you have to go in to find a key.

They’re also first person, unlike EO which is third person.

I’d recommend at least the second one to anyone who is interested or likes Endless Ocean!

(Also in Japan, Endless Ocean is called “Forever Blue”, which I can only guess is a nod to these games!)

Yep.

If Nintendo had serious designs on growing Mother as a franchise, they would've done so with (or certainly without him) long before now. Besides, Itoi largely said that he would've been fine with someone else taking over and being the "player".

Is there a chance that Sonic mobile game could come to Switch? Sonic Dream Team or something? Don’t remember what it’s called but I remember thinking it looked like what I expected Sonic to naturally evolve into during the PSthwii360 era.
After having recently played through it myself, honestly I don’t think it’ll come to consoles at all. It feels very “mobile game” in design and presentation (despite having played the game on a Mac with a Pro Controller) and would need a lot of adjustments and polish to make it somewhat on par with other console Sonic games, so I don’t think it’s likely to happen. I mean, they could just bring it over mostly as is, I suppose, but I don’t see SEGA doing that, and it would probably lead to a lot of bad impressions of the game. Like, it’s not a bad game…but it’s absolutely a mobile game at its core and has a very cheap feel to it compared to other Sonic games on Switch.

How can Nintendo depend on a very older Itoi to make earthbound. At some point he either gives it to Nintendo fully and they need to remake it like they have no issue with the most niche series

These were actually previewed by gaming magazines, I was actually waiting for the localized version of the first game. Maybe they got cancelled after the reception it got in Japan.

Maybe they'll return to first person controls with this new game, it worked very well in Subnautica.

A rumors of April Direct are starting, go watch the April 2017 one. First ever Switch General. So nostalgic, the old music, the old into, the old layout, headlines for the first time, old narrator, Koizumi first appereace in a Direct, 3DS still featured, Koizumi snapping fingers for 3DS segment, PIKMIN 3DS now has the oficial name - Hey! Pikmin, ARMS release date, yellow Joy-Cons, Joy-Con AA Battery Pack announced @Raccoon favorite accessory, Splatoon 2 Salmon Run as last announcemenent and Splatoon 2 dated.

We've come a long road guys.

It's so nostalgic to go back and watch the two General Directs from 2017 because, while they didn't have the biggest announcements in the world, especially compared to most General Directs that would follow in the years after, the way the headlines used to be done and the general feeling of these ones, at least to me, define a specific era of Nintendo! :D

Also they were literally spoiling the rest of headlines when you were watching the Direct lol. It lasted in the other one too and was replaced in March 2018 Direct.

Earthbound, more than any other Nintendo franchise, is kind of an auteur lead thing. Frankly I don't want anything done with the games without Itoi's direct involvement and I think on some level Nintendo feels the same. Not everything needs a remake.

First, it's time to see what Yasuyuki Honne's (MonolithSoft) Mother game would have ended up being. Maybe just file off the serial numbers so it can be its own thing.

Second, Mother (trilogy) release incoming, let's go!

I'm going to ignore Radiant Silvergun for a moment and pretend they put a team together for Sin & Punishment trilogy release on new Nintendo hardware, it's actually happening!
Honestly I think that would be a best case scenario, I too would also love nothing more than to see Honne's mother game concept be brought to life!
