Clearly Pyoro is referring to the time when Nintendo partnered with Sega, and Sega introduced a couple of characters to Nintendo's series, including the pilot of the Cosmic Dolphin, Digi-Boy. I'm totally not coping.

Add in Silksong and this will be so great(cope)

This is looking like a good direct, also havent played Hifi Rush yet so will be nice to see it come to Switch if its announced(though thinking about getting it on PC soon anyway lol).

We can't get two of the best Zelda games brought over to Switch but Nintendo has no problem bringing their most obscure titles over that likely won't even sell a million units.

I think anyone angry about Endless Ocean needs to take a deep breath and chill out. Here, take your mind off Endless Ocean and listen to some calming music that I found on Youtube.

Lol. I'm not angry. It's actually more then I was expecting from this Direct. 😄

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess deserve full remakes with path tracing instead of just basic ports of the HD version imo.

Ok but genuinely, what's actually pointing to Endless Ocean from Pyoro's hint, couldn't "loving dolphins" that also be like, Wave Race? Both 64 and Blue Storm have Dolphin riding codes. Or is it more "Endless Ocean was developed by Arika, so it'd make more sense"?

A different reputable insider replied to someone guessing Endless Ocean and said it's correct.

Aside from Pentiment, none of the games here sounds like Direct announcement.

  • Yasahime manga is just way too niche to be on Direct. Also I don't see Namco spending big money on this, could be a visual novel or even a mobile game.
  • Moonglow Bay is known to be coming to other platforms and it isn't big enough to be Direct indie announcement. Indies games in Directs tend to be the bigger stuff (scope wise), such as Gloomhaven, Sifu, Factorio or Horizon Chase 2.
  • SMT5 re-release sounds like a multiplat release. I don't think it warrant a Direct showing. Maybe at other platforms "Direct"s.
  • While they can surprise us, it's way too early for Too Kyo's next game. I expect it at June Direct at least.
  • UnderMine 2 is too small indie to be on a regular Direct. Indie World maybe.

Actual possibilities:

  • Asano also teased a game at new years message
  • Next Gust game
  • Next Nippon Ichi game (hoping for a new Rhapsody game)
  • Marvelous recent games (2 secret JRPG projects, Rune Factory 6 and Project Dragon, Daemon X Machina)
  • media.vision's secret 7 projects (one of them should be the next Digimon game other should be Summon Night 7)
  • Whatever Game Arts's been doing since Grandia remaster
  • Square remasters (SaGa Frontier 2 is one of them)
  • Namco remasters (Tales?)
  • Bigger indies (Dune Spice Wars, Against the Storm, The Raft)
  • Leaked but not yet announced games (Anno 1800, Humankind, Darkest Dungeon 2, Gotham Knights)

Yeah, I'll have to kindly disagree.

  • Bandai Namco is a recurring Nintendo Direct partner.
  • Moonglow Bay hasn't been announced for other platforms. And if this is a Partner Direct Mini, I don't see the fact that it's an indie game dismissing it.
  • Shin Megami Tensei V still started out on Switch and was mainly promoted through Directs before it began its formal marketing campaign.
  • Too Kyo literally said it's new game announcement is coming in the near future. (It's linked right under my speculation.)
  • Again being indie doesn't mean anything. There have been indies in both regular and Partner Directs in the past.

Not saying at all that these will be there, but I do think they're good possibilities.

This:
Someone asks if Pyoro is hinting at Endless Ocean on Weibo and NS News Subo, a news account who has leaked a lot of stuff in the past (you can see their track record here: https://famiboards.com/threads/nintendo-direct-announced-for-february-8th.5320/post-554584), says the original poster guessed it correctly.

Do you think Pentiment will be available on the day of the Direct?
I believe Hi-Fi Rush is gonna be the shadow dropped game(since even its initial release was shadow dropped) and Pentiment is dated for later in the spring.

What I really wonder tho is when/where Sea of Thieves and Grounded will be revealed. Sea of Thieves being GaaS kinda makes me feel like it's State of Play material but Grounded looks kinda impressive graphically so I think it'd be great impossible port material for the Direct, but I don't see all four games being there.

I'm super sure on Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment tho.

I'm still catching up so I'm not sure if anyone asked this yet but if there is a game that is a Nintendo IP (and probably will be published by them in a number of regions) in the Partner Showcase, do we think the showcase will be pre-announced?

Someone with a Twitter please check the Pyoro likes 😭🙏🏻.
Since they liked MondoMega's tweet guessing what the Gamefreak game could be:

  • two jokes (one about where Pyoro is located, referencing them apparently leaving their location tagged in an earlier tweet by accident, one about Pyoro claiming to be Miyamoto)
  • Necro saying that it'd be fun to get the version of Pocket Card Jockey from Apple Arcade on Switch

I remember Nate hearing about Hi-Fi Rush's Switch version being shelved for now or something along those lines? I would really like to be wrong on that but I remember there being some new chatter and complications.
Would also love Sea of Thieves, feels right home on a Switch and I could imagine myself and some buddies shipping out for some booty 🌊

I can't do it again. I so badly want Gamecube NSO, or at least a more steady and frequent cadence of GCN releases, but I can't believe it. I've already set up my CRT and GCN in my den because I know it's not happening. Gamecube controller patent renewal? It's just another Eternal Darkness trademark re-registration; it means nothing. I don't even think the size of the files is that big of an issue; just get a shell applet, and individually download the games you want to play, 1.4Gb in size at a time. Nintendo just doesn't feel like it.

Pyoro said to not get excited, right? I'm staying not excited. "Is Nintendo a partner?" "Nintendo likes dolphins?" It's gonna be another another in-house indie title like Good Job or Part-Time UFO, except it's about a non-descript purple cube with a lunchbox handle as the protagonist riding a dolphin. Or it will be Endless Ocean and I'm just as unbothered as ever.

Yeah! this post, Pyoro. Do it. You can't hurt me.

On top of the insider stuff the others mentioned, there's also the fact Nintendo trademarked it back in 2018 alongside Another Code

Famitsu named Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded and Sea of Thieves as the four games and coming to Switch after the Xbox podcast. The Verge also said Hi-Fi Rush is coming to Switch and PS5 this quarter even before the whole third party thing was officially announced. And there's a Switch themed t-shirt in the data mine of the latest update of the game.

I feel like talks about shelving the Switch version or it being a challenge might've been held, but it's pretty clear it's coming now with two major outlets saying this. Nate might've gotten old info or something like the Starfield one that he checked and ended up being false.

I feel like HiFi Rush could probably be downgraded in a couple ways visually that'd be practically unnoticeable thanks to it's art style, but it's also clearly using that scalable art style to go for a lot of things constantly happening.
If nothing else, I could see it being on Switch 2, and with the shirt datamines, it's at least planned to be on at least one Nintendo handheld.

Because Tango said they couldn't get it running on 60 FPS on Xbox One so they cancelled that version and the Xbox One is much more powerful than the Switch.
Is it though? They're about the same level, with a few things each side does better.

if we need an example of games getting ported down to Switch, Ori and the Will of the Wisps had major technical issues on Xbox One. That made everyone think it would never come to Switch. We all know how that ended.

I am excited to learn more about Penny’s Big Breakaway and hopefully some of Level 5’s projects (namely Fantasy Life I). I haven’t really played Endless Ocean and from what I have read it doesn’t seem to be type of game, but still happy it is coming for those that like the originals. I am still hoping Sega will re-release Adventure 1 and 2 and maybe Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing on Switch but I think this year they will focus more on the Shadow X Sonic Generations. Half-life ports, The Sims, original Plants VS. Zombies would also be welcome by me.

Beyond that, given the apparent hardware delay, I hope we get a nice sprinkling of WWHD and TPHD, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Luigi’s Mansion 1 GC port (drop before LM2HD), and maybe F-Zero GX. Though these will likely not be announced in a Partner Direct (maybe with the exception of F-Zero GX if Sega is involved).

I really respect Nintendo supporting old/niche franchises like Another Code, Endless Ocean, Advance Wars, etc. They’re got an excellent portfolio of franchises and it makes sense to make use of them, even if they’re not all super popular.

With that being said, I’m not very excited for a Partner this week. I respect Partner Directs and I know lots of people will be excited, but I’m personally here for the first- and second-party games (with very few exceptions). Partner Directs just aren’t for me; I skipped most of them in 2020 which would NEVER happen for a General or regular Mini Direct.

With that being said: if, by some miracle, we get a new Super Monkey Ball, I will lose my SHIT

While they can surprise us, it's way too early for Too Kyo's next game. I expect it at June Direct at least.
Too Kyo has announced stuff early a lot as of late. Both Rain Code and Nirvana Initiative were announced very early with no gameplay and very few details. A small teaser wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I mean even if they did want to it would be silly to do it now while they still have so much stuff left for the Gameboy systems that they can release anyways

eventually those will dry up and they'll be looking for something new in a few years and there's only a limited number of systems out there

Yeah, HFR on Siwtch seems to be in a weird state of limbo at the moment. The two people that teased it going multiplatform to begin with also said:

Tbh, I'm not trusting any insiders when it comes to the Microsoft stuff. We had so many people say that they heard Starfield, Indiana Jones, Gears, Flight Simulator, etc were coming to other platforms and then change their minds. Nate even admitted to having a bad source for the Starfield rumor.

All we know is Microsoft said four games are coming to PS5 and Switch. Two small games and two live service titles. Hi-Fi Rush has a Switch shirt in the anniversary update files. I'm choosing to believe it's still happening.

I’ll be thrilled if we really are getting Endless Ocean. Those are some of the few Wii games from Nintendo that I never got around to picking up for whatever reason, but I was always curious about them. Would absolutely love to be able to play them both on Switch now!

Really questioning Pyoro's taste if they knew about Pocket Card Jockey and Endless Ocean when they said they weren't excited... (so i'm going to assume they didn't).
