But Bakugan wasn't part of a Partner Direct? And the content we know of (Penny's Big Breakaway, Pocket Card Jockey, Endless Ocean, one or more Microsoft games) is already better than the summer 2020 Partner Showcases.
That's not for me. And I already played those Microsoft games.

All the people who say its gonna be a bad direct are the same people who never played either of the Endless Ocean games.
I agree.

Are we feeling an Endless Ocean 3 or a 1+2 remake?
3 would be the dream, but I think 1+2 is probably more realistic…

Fine by me though, I would love to see what some of those locations look like in HD, even if it’s just a higher resolution.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes has to get its release date here, I'd think. Seems close to finished, announced in a previous Partner Direct...

This Partners' Showcase sounds it's gonna be as niche as possible

It won't be a mini Direct, but a tiny one of Minish proportions.

Ugh, it feels this is going to be a bakugan tier partner direct.

I know first-party content is preferred, but from what we're seeing so far, this sounds like a pretty decent Direct. But I'm also not too picky.

Semi-confirmed via Pyoro:

  • Contra: Operation Galuga demo (and probably release date)
  • Endless Ocean something
  • Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road beta date (since it's already confirmed for March)
    • (assuming this is the LEVEL-5 thing since Megaton Musashi is already dated, and Fantasy Life, DECAPOLICE, and Layton aren't due until summer, general 2024, and 2025, respectively)
  • Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! port
  • Penny's Big Breakaway release date

Decent possibilities:

  • Bandai Namco: Yashahime game reveal
    • ("Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree" was recently trademarked, many are connecting it to Yashahime)
  • Moonglow Bay port
  • Pentiment port
    • (This could explain why Nintendo delayed the Direct from last week)
  • Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
    • (rated in South Korea)
  • Too Kyo Games: Kazutaka Kodaka x Kotaro Uchikoshi 'Limit x Despair' project announce
  • UnderMine 2 announce

where is the endless ocean rumor coming from? Pyoro?

It's coming from here: https://weibo.com/7752168376/O1ncke1SB

Weibo user 袋相随 speculates Pyoro's dolphin tease is Endless Ocean, then account NS新闻速报 (which apparently has gotten things right in the past --- thought I'm not really knowledgeable here and can't speak to its validity) replied something which apparently means the Weibo user guessed right.

I'm now catching up on the messages from last night but I believe Nintendo published Fantasy Life for the 3DS, at least in the West? I know it'll probably be published by Level-5 in Japan, for example so be that's why it would be in the Partner Showcase, but I could see this game being one game that they consider apart of their "first-party" lineup because of that...? Maybe I'm off base with that though but it would be an interesting way to build up their lineup for the year!!

Unless it's already been confirmed for other platforms...

Stupid question, what does “bakugan” mean? I keep seeing that term but I have no idea what that means
Bakugan is an anime that got a tie-in game on Switch announced in 2020. The day before it was announced, Nintendo said a new game by WayForward would be revealed in a presentation the next day, and people got their hopes up unrealistically high, thinking it'd be Metroid or another Nintendo IP (despite Nintendo saying it wouldn't be based on a first-party IP). Naturally, when the game was revealed, it was considered a massive disappointment.

Thanks for the context, appreciate it

It seems to be coming to other platforms.

This is from the latest trailer, which was the first trailer to include this text:

If it is Endless Ocean I wish we still got some development info from Nintendo about their more niche games.

Even if it's as simple as FDC and Advance Wars were I really want to know how it (and Another Code too while I'm at it) came back!

so assuming it is Endless Ocean, are we figuring this is a Cruis'n Blast situation where for some reason Nintendo isn't publishing it themselves? Because otherwise it's hard to square it with the Partner Direct that Pyoro's soft-confirmed

It'll probably be published everywhere by level 5 because they burnt the bridges with Nintendo hard.

Still weird that we thought after Samus returns was received well they wouldn’t give them the next Metroid game and instead randomly give it to wayforward

It means "really boring".

If it's not a joke but an honest question, this is it:

This came after Nintendo skipping two general directs in 2020 (for obvious reasons), and it was almost a meme.

honestly Nintendo got way too much shit in 2020. People thought they were handling covid worse than other studios when they really weren’t. It was just scheduling that other games happened to be released at the time

The Dolphin refers to the Isle Delfino icon on the globe in Odyssey. The Isle Delphino DLC is coming after 6 years, EPD Tokyo spend 6 years on this.

In a slow year without a real Mario game releasing, I could actually see them doing something like this.

But Pyoro already said the Direct wasn't worth getting excited about, and I feel like this would be noteworthy?

Yeah, sadly none of that rumoured stuff is for me, was hoping the Dolphin thing was going to be something other than Endless Ocean. I’ll probably skip this Direct but I hope those who are hyped enjoy the show! :)

Before reading the ten pages of posts that happened after the Pyoro tease, I just wanna point out that weirder things like "Tune in tomorrow for the ARMS Direct!!! with a new Splatoon 2 trailer in the end" and the fabled "tune in for a Nintendo Treehouse Live for Paper Mario The Origami King, with a game reveal from Way Forward!" happened so I can totally see "Tune in tomorrow for a Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, with a brand new game announcement from Nintendo in the end!" happening.

In a time where investment in gaming is shrinking and funding is drying up everywhere for smaller projects, risk taking is non existent and everything is GaaS - Nintendo funding super niche stuff like Another Code and now possibly Endless Ocean gets a ton of my respect whether or not the games are for me or not

The recent video Digital Foundry put up about Penny got me hyped about it. Game looks splendid.

I thought the #Doomers had won this time around, and personally had given up, but new Endless Ocean or Wave Race games?

That is a complete and total #TeamJanuary victory

I am sorry but it is. those are two of the absolute best Nintendo series that bare any of you have even bothered with

We won

As cool as Endless Ocean seems to be, I gotta admit I'm a bit disappointed that it's probably not gonna be Ecco

For a precious little blip of time I was picturing Defender of the Future being remastered for modern hardware and I was really really happy

I'm gonna be tryina live in that period of time all week
Just do what I do in Endless Ocean games and name your dolphin companion Ecco

we must do what SEGAdon't

i can't be the only person that is still mad that odyssey never got DLC for additional kingdoms like delfino isle, right?
I mean, it is still baffling to me that it was on the map and they clearly removed it (but not well enough)…

Was it just supposed to be a reference? But why remove it? One of those mysteries that I really would love to have answered one day…

Speaking as a Metroid fan, Metroid fans are known for being desperate and sometimes illogical when wanting news. The fandom at large thought Retro, who at the time were vocal that they were done with Metroid Prime after 3, would not do a follow-up to their highly successful Donkey Kong Country game on Wii (the one that outsold the Prime trilogy combined) and would instead go back to Prime for Wii U.

I think that infamous copypasta that said Nintendo should have cancelled the Bakugan announcement solely because some people online expected it to be Metroid is probably the absolute peak of Metroid fan absurdity. I doubt we'll ever see someone top that.
