This is dismissive of a vast swathe of Switch games, though, including many excellent ones. I get we're on a Nintendo forum but that mean we need to dismiss every mid-level effort that isn't from Nintendo.

But we're talking about a third party showcase and people are dismissing that before it even airs.
I mean, mid or not, they’re still worth looking into. Especially the rumored SMTV Vengeance thing

I mean ... realistically, the third parties that do make exciting mid-sized / AA games like SQEX for example, there's a big chance there's nothing from those in the upcoming Direct.

They could show DQ 3 HD-2D, but i think they show it in an own, maybe DQ-only, event.

And stuff like the new Contra from current Konami ... yeah, thanks no.

I think it's not reaching out too much to say that most of the thirds, or at least those with interesting projecst or all sizes, are looking to move on by now.

Princess Peach Showtime (new)
Splatoon 3 : Sider Order (new)
Metroid Prime 4 (new)
Fire Emblem 4 (remake but new in Europe and USA)

+

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD (remasters)
Paper TTYD (remasters)

If we have these games then I would be very happy :)

Metroid Prime 4 has not been announced for this year and would be an extremely not mid-sized game.

Fire Emblem 4 has not been announced in general.

This partner showcase will be the greatest hits of the previous ones clearly.

"Never pay more than 20 dollars for a video game" but instead it's "never buy a vanilla ATLUS game"

It absolutely is reaching, and that's still dismissive, because it decides what qualifies as "interesting". It frames the conversation as if there's only certain things people can look forward to.

If you're disappointed and not interested, then fair enough. But preemptively acting ahead of time as if there's nothing of interest in general strikes me as unreasonable.
If we don’t get anything in the Partners, then we’re gettinr a General in March

Or a Twitter Direct…
Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion dates could be released through Twitter, sure. Knowing when to expect first party news beyond that has become difficult, I think.

Dunno, if not even Pyoro has any motivation to hype the Direct, even going so far and calling it unexciting ... i'm not familiar if "rating" it before it airs is something he usually does, but it feels telling here.

I ended up taking a break from the internet over the weekend after the insanity of last week! 😂

So following the Switch 2 delay reports, how are our chances now looking for a hardware reveal next month?

Ehh, maybe, but any reveal would basically be limited to a "we're going to release a successor to the Nintendo Switch March 2025" press release with few to no details.

Everyone’s situation is a little different (time, money, tastes, etc.), but I do think being dismissive walking into these things does stink a bit. People do know their own tastes to an extent sure, but a lot of cool stuff regularly shows up in these shows and it’s worth giving new things a shot sometimes. Also there’s stuff you might not be interested in that others definitely will be.

But if you are still down on Partners only, especially with the internal delay of Switch 2, Nintendo is suddenly going to have to work to make this year seems worthwhile quickly especially since both Side Order and Peach will both be out very soon. I don’t know how quick we’ll get more news exactly, but first party news is definitely showing up sooner than later.

This direct will definitely stand to be the greatest barometer we'll have of Pyoro's tastes, as some of us agreed last week.

Again, if they skew more in the direction of a "typical Nintendo fan(tm)", then no shit why Pyoro is likely nonplussed by a third party showcase. They might not care about Megaten, for example, but I certainly do!

I'd guess it depends on exactly how much Nintendo have, and whether they've needed to shuffle. A negative scenario would be that they withhold news until the usual June window, with Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario getting dated through social media trailers for May and July respectively. The first party picture will be a little clearer after next week's Pokemon Presents - there could well be a Mystery Dungeon or other spin-off launching in the summer as well as the title in the usual November spot.

More optimistically, a Direct immediately after Princess Peach could date those two games and announce anything else coming from June onwards.

I would not expect Silksong to appear in the Direct. Pyoro said he wasn't too excited about the content and in the hypothetical case that he just doesn't like metroidvania, I think he would have said something along the lines of "not personally but an announcement is going to appeal to a lot of people" but he just said no and that's it.

As for Level 5, Fantasy Life has a good chance of appearing, but I wouldn't take it as 100% confirmed as in the case of the Microsoft game or the Penny game (can't remember the full name sorry). Level 5 will launch next month the beta of Inazuma Eleven exclusively for Nintendo Switch and has no specific date. And in April Megaton Mushashi. They could show all 3 things, just 2 or one. Hell, they might even show something from Decapolice.

The only thing I wonder about getting a full direct anytime soon, would there be enough third party stuff left over? Obviously even regular directs are largely made up of third party games, would there be enough built up by March/April to pad out a direct?

If Nintendo have some first party reveals left over that they want to get out before June, I could see them just dropping trailers on Twitter 2020-style

My theory of it might be a Partner Showcase, but they’ll still include a Nintendo game especially after the delay is looking better haha.

The original tweet was:

Is Nintendo a Partner?

Then there was a poll with Yes or No as the two options.
