Nintendo certainly must be extremely happy that they snatched Fujibayashi from Capcom.
To me it feels more like Fuji was more interested in working with nintendo from the beginning. His first directional game was "Magical Tetris Challenge" on N64, after that he aproached Miyamoto for the GB Zeldas.
He was reaching there, nintendo didn't snatch him.
Still, huge addition in hindsight.

Oh yeah I don’t expect them to tweet it out, just wondering if said retailer has more of them lol

Which reminds me, is anyone able to rip the Zelda one from the JP website? Should finally be available in transparent form now that it was put there yesterday with the Ganondorf one
There you go

It still feels crazy to me that the store who leaked these new arts yesterday still has the tweet there lol. Many people actually think these came directly from Nintendo (only Tulin was released later today oficially).

NGL it took me like 30 seconds to realise what you were referencing and then I went very fast from WTF to LOL

Hahahahaha

Same haha

Lol I'm sorry. Usually avoid dark humor, but Cubone has always creeped me out.

Is there actually an explanation what happened?
Did he create a magic software wormhole, or did he rearange the datastructures, so that a faster decompression could be achived, or did he just implement a common compression technique that the programmers simply did not think about because the game structure was shifting under the hood all the time or...what actually happened here.

He... used Nintendo magic. That's all I got.

Thats just way to low. Not okay.

(Pst pst @Chaotic Neutral, fast, change your avatar so that others think hes a monster)

Not sure where the spoiler thread went. But can anyone tell me what the name of the big bird enemies are? I tried to look at the Kanji but “Vire” and “Kargorak” didnt seem to be lining up

These usually come in press kits right? I wonder if Nintendo sent them to a ton of other outlets, and only this one bothered to post them

Usually Nintendo Life dumps them, so I guess there’s an embargo?

I think they weren't supposed to post them at all, they will be posted oficially on Monday/Tuesday. I am kinda shocked they are giving them these in advance as the E3 2016 art was leaked by Amazon a day early even.

So, she's on whatever becomes the Great Plateau? Or whatever the Great Plateau is built from?

Given there are untouched Zonai Ruins in this Hyrule, wonder if Hylians built on top of those ruins in some places, like the Plateau. I'd been wondering if the stuff in the sky phased into existence out of the Sacred Realm, or if Ganondorf destroys some magical barrier in the sky which brings the islands into existence; what if Ganondorf reviving and dragging Hyrule Castle into the sky has an unintended side effect and the same cataclysm drags Zonai ruins and structures up from beneath the ground and into the sky? That could be what creates the chasms and caves we can explore.

Idea for a new type of “temperature gating” like heat and cold in BotW…

Outer space.

No, I’m not saying that there’s a whole space realm. Simply the highest altitude of the sky islands starts to fade into the starry sky - and link can’t breathe

Like the other temperature gates, food would mitigate it. Idk, Oxygen berries or something lol - doesn’t have to be realistic, link can eat a pepper and get volcano resistance anyway lmao.

The Flamebreaker Armor equivalent? A sheikah-fied or Zonai-fied Astronaut suit.

Final boss on the blood moon.

Ok, I was actually just thinking of this. The "oxygen berries" could also serve a dual use if there's underwater segment and/or maybe a poisonous swamp with toxic fumes, so it'll be very integrated with the game's mechanics.

The other thing is gravity. There's that scene in the new trailer with what looks like low gravity jumping, which could mean that the higher Link goes the lower the gravity. This could work in reverse too where going deeper underground would also reduce gravity. To counter that, there could be runes or equipment or something that allows Link to alter the gravity, which allows for a host of puzzle opportunities. For example, setting to low gravity could allow Link to leap over obstacles whereas setting to high gravity could act like the magnetic boots from TP.

Finally, altitude itself could be a "temperature/stamina gating" and I think it's going to be very difficult to gain altitude early on. I'm guessing octo-balloons will be removed and we already know that ultrahand depends on battery so Link can't just immediately create a contraption that goes to 9999 Z right at the start of the game. The falling rocks all over Hyrule I think could come from space/the moon itself and we know from the gameplay trailer that Link can only use ascend for a limited amount of height, but what if that range can be increased like with the ultrahand battery? Basically, I think at the start of the game, the player can through sheer will brute force their way to 9999 Z and fight Ganondorf/Demise/whoever on the moon like you can with BotW or they can play the game and gain a ton of abilities and upgrades that'll make going up significantly easier and not to mention getting better gear, heart containers and stamina wheels.

Anyways, just a bunch off conjecture and possibilities.

it looks like it's pretty much in the vicinity of the Temple of Time, which carries its own implications...

Let Bucket Man cook

Him and his pan-headed friends might be the protagonists of the Hyrule MMO

Been thinking about bucket head a lot recently tbh,

Like what if the shots of that NPC group of normies, the normies in the carriage, and the normies fighting are all part of the same quest? Like you gotta transport a group of civs across a very large distance while keeping them safe. Gamers love escort missions!
But they can defend themselves too. Maybe dude is wearing a bucket on his head because Link put it there using ultrahand. To protect the noggin.
& I mean it doesn't have to be a horse drawn carriage, right? You could walk, build them a car, or with enough external batteries, build them a godamn helicopter that fires flames from its propellers.

How would any of this work? idk, but the revealed mechanics are wild enough to make me think something like this is in the realm of possibility.

I'd like it if that long jump Link has comes from some sort of new Rocks Feather. Doesn't really matter what the item is of course, just really how it functions. I thought the ability came from gravity too until I saw that picture of Link seemingly using that Jump but down on the surface.

I wonder if a Grapple/Hook Shot is still a possibility? Doesn't look like you'd need it with all these traversal options. But i guess I assumed we wouldn't have needed a bigger jump either.

Watch a super duper late game upgrade is the Loftwing. Once the developers feel you explored the majority of the game the wildly open intended way they'll just let us break everything afterward.

This game is looking absolutely incredible.

ALBW spoilers below on the off chance someone here hasn’t experienced it and has managed to avoid spoilers for 10 years lol

Now that Dorf’s back I’ve seen discussions on how he should be characterized and many bring up Wind Waker dorf but I also wanna bring up Hilda. The most recent human villain prior to BotW, because I thought she was great too.

I always thought it was a really cool subversion that doesn’t get discussed much.

Her motive was simple, and she was definitely in the wrong, but her reason for doing what she did was also understandable. I remember feeling sadness after ALBW’s final boss (until of course Link and Zelda wish on their triforce and help her). Like yeah you beat Ganon which normally feels triumphant, but the added context for what that meant for Lorule just made it bittersweet.

I haven’t replayed ALBW in a while, but I also remembered her dialogue being very well written in that you could feel her desperation.

I would definitely rank her in the most interesting Zelda villains next to WW Dorf and Skull Kid.

I wonder if Zelda is lost in an alternate timeline, rather than simply back in time..
So the main reason to think she's back in time is that she's interacting with Zonai goat guy. And we know he was alive long ago because he was on the mural, and also because it's his disembodied arm sealing ganondorf.

I guess it's possible he still exists in the sacred realm or something but the simpler explanation is she was brought back in time to his era.

Honestly at this point I just want them to go full Inception 'dream within a dream' mode. I want the alternating between times to be almost seamless, like you're racing to speak to a different version of yourself. I'm almost imagining a sequence like in the first reboot of God Of War where Kratos is chasing his son through the portals, such an unbelievable moment for me, I hope we get something similar.

One thing I've been thinking is that the return of Ganondorf could lead to strife among the Gerudo, since there could be a traditionalist faction that supports him as the rightful king.

This could either lead to a rogue Gerudo group akin to the Yiga or a full blown coup against Riju. Perhaps her arc would involve retaking Gerudo town from the Ganondorf loyalists. We've already seen some large scale villager fighting in the latest trailer, so it could fit.

I plan on gathering 300 villagers and defending the small gap between the Duelling Peaks before those Moblins and Bokoblins can reach Fort Hateno. My army will call me Linkonidas.

Agreed, and if so, it would only do more to showcase (again) just how important ALBW was for plotting the path the Zelda series is on.

For example, I've seen more than a couple "Vergil" (DMC) comparisons to TOTK's Ganon, and honestly...I wouldn't be surprised if he had a similar "Motivation!" at work here, which plays directly to another case of "subversions", and truly make Ganon something a bit more than the dude who wants to take over the world/reclaim the Triforce/etc.

Or at the very least, again, I can't imagine that they've showed off Ganon as much as Aonuma, Fujibayashi and co. have allowed, and not think it's a work of some sort. If everything that Aonuma talked about years ago, where the assignment is to make us rethink everything that makes a Zelda game what it is, then that much has to apply to Ganon, too, yeah?

Its a perfect trailer!!! Im rewatching again and keep pausing it to look at the details and trying to spot more new things, and even more excited.

If its like the 2017 BOTW trailer where it shows a good amount but doesnt reveal too much than there is still a lot to discover we havent been shown yet. But this trailer is perfect for bringing the hype more compared to the others

I don't think I saw anyone mention it, so maybe I am just mishearing it, but when we hear singing in the trailer, are they not singing "the future"?

How would ending the cycle (which forces them to do the same thing over and over again... which is the definition of painting yourself into a corner.) Ending the cycle does quite the contrary

What cycle? Fan theories saying the game is going to start the events of SS are wild speculation.

If you mean Demise's curse, it also isn't a cycle. It isn't causing events to happen over and over, it's simply a promise that evil will always challenge good.

Okay, the towers are definitely disappearing. Or at least, the Mt. Lanayru one. It's in the shot in Hateno but not in the one when you see Central Hyrule being rebuild. What if they go missing when you activate them? Altough the scene where it's missing, it's the Link with the Toga (early in the game) so probably not.

Yeah I think people took the idea of the "cycle" too literally. The main common theme between almost all of the games is the three forces, power, wisdom and courage, all being based on the three parts of the triforce. Demise's curse was more or less just a convenient way to frame those forces being represented by different characters over the ages.

I think they are appearing. In BotW, the towers weren't there when the game began. They only rose after Link activates something.

I don't think they would make the game visually less interesting with fewer notable landmarks as the game goes on. Stuff is getting awakened but just probably not all at once like it did in BotW.

"Extraordinary. You stand as a paragon of your kind, human. You fight like no human or demon I have ever known. Though this is not the end. My hate... never perishes. It is born anew in a cycle with no end! I will rise again. Those like you... Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time!"
Dunno.... Feels pretty much like a curse to me

After Demise's death, his essence is locked in the Master Sword until it manifest itself as Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, starting the eternal cycle of reincarnation.

Fi on Demise:
This eternal being has conquered time itself. It is the source of all monsters. According to tales passed down through generations, it appears differently in each epoch and to each person who lays eyes on it.
Despite elsewhere referring to Demise as a man, Fi calls Demise an "it" while describing him to Link.
  • According to her it is because Demise is not a being with a stable physical form and his appearance change depending on who see him and when they see him.
