So what makes this game better than 2?
So what makes this game better than 2?
I wonder if those zones with the desert are the overworld and not simple stages. Which would be a lot more involving than past games and give a big adventure vibe to the solo.
- Snippets from the single player teaser show bigger and more open areas than 1 and 2 like the icy launch site
Okay, but the real news should be:
where the fuck is Salt Spray Rig?!?!?!!?!
The question is will all of these be available from the start? I really hope they don't release these post launch.
I think the Japanese tweet said that all main weapons from past games will be in the game at launchThe question is will all of these be available from the start? I really hope they don't release these post launch.
Yeah! Where's Salt Spray Rig, Squid Research Lab?!? What happened to that location. Get your scientists on it, stat.
(I want Salt Spray back, too. Map had issues, but those issues made it stand out. It's kind of a similar case as Walleye Warehouse, which I enjoy for the same reasons competitive players justifiably hate it for.)
The tweet from @SplatoonJP says something about "day of release", so keep your fingers crossed auto translate isn't leading us astray about the best possible interpretation of "from".
That's good to know, time to get my hopes up.I think the Japanese tweet said that all main weapons from past games will be in the game at launch
Edit: oops looks like i was 3 minutes late
Why wasn't well received?although the Dualie Squelchers were very well received, the E-liter 4K was not
What issues do these stages have? I'm soooo out of the meta/competitive scene, for better or worseYeah! Where's Salt Spray Rig, Squid Research Lab?!? What happened to that location. Get your scientists on it, stat.

The 3K had better range and I believe it was the most popular charger in Splat 1. Then in Splat2 the 3K was replaced by the 4K which had less range and power (I think there is an in-universe explanation of this), but it was a little bit faster and ink-efficient, so it was basically closer to the regular Splat Charger. From what I understand, most 3K mains were disappointed by the 4K and migrated to the Splat Charger because they felt that 4K's tradeoff of charge speed for range wasn't worth it.Why wasn't well received?

The regular E-liter 3K also had an amazing complement in the burst bomb sub which enhanced its mobility and allowed for quick kills, but then said sub was replaced by the ink mine in the regular 4K which is considered a very meh sub (however Splatoon 3 can make the 4K more useful by giving it better kits).
All of this resulted in the 4K being an unpopular weapon in high-level play and the least popular charger besides the Goo Tuber.
Yes. I believe the 3K excelled at killing without full charges. Thanks!
When you say "power," you mean not-fully charge damage?
I never warmed up to the Dualie Squelchers and converted to Jet Squelcher for all my squelching needs in Splatoon 2. Gonna be woomy if there's still a niche for the Dual Squelcher in Splatoon 3's set of weapons.
My favorite weapon from 1 was the Dual Squelcher, so I'd be happy if it truly makes a return.
Jet Squelcher (my favorite) and Splattershot Pro are my main weapons in 2, I'm going to miss their specials (Sting Ray and Booyah Bomb).
This is me too.
I always use the basic Splattershot with the stomp, so I figured I was safe. I wonder if the specials got rearranged or not?
Since returning stage talk is here, I hope Camp Triggerfish returns again since it is my favorite map for Tower Control.
Is it really milking though? Many people seem to have forgotten that it's been 5 years since Splatoon 2 already. I'd say that 5 years between a game and its sequel feels like a good amount of time and not milking.Man they really are milking splatoon. I know it wouldn’t happen but would you guys purchase a yearly release a la previous COD games?
The Jet Squelcher was in both games.EDIT: forgot about Splatoon 2's Jet Squelcher, which is like a slower Dual Squelcher with better range. Just like the Dualie Squelcher, the Jet Squelcher was well received by Splatoon players.
There'll be over a 5 year gap between 2 and 3, and it's already nearly 4 years since Octo Expansion. I personally wouldn't call that milking it.Man they really are milking splatoon. I know it wouldn’t happen but would you guys purchase a yearly release a la previous COD games?
Specials are pretty heavily reworked between games; nothing in 1 was in 2 (though the bomb rush and bomb launcher were basically identical). While there are some specials that are similar in spirit between the three games, I haven't seen a splashdown equivalent, and I don't know if there'll be one.I always use the basic Splattershot with the stomp, so I figured I was safe. I wonder if the specials got rearranged or not?
Having a game of the series release 5 years after the previous entry isn't milking it. It's literally the bare minimum to keeping a IP relevant. 10 years means that an IP is practically dead, until it's resurrected of course.Man they really are milking splatoon. By default, it could only one-shot with a full charge. One of the bigger nerfs to the weapon was actually indirect; the loss of the Damage Up gear ability. Players would often stack a lot of it, allowing the E-Liter to one-shot with as little as a 65% charge. The main benefit of this was to better pressure flankers; range still scaled with charge.Yes. I believe the 3K excelled at killing without full charges.
I think it's a combination of the game not being popular here and people expecting it to be a once per system deal, like most of Nintendo's multiplayer-focused stuff is (Mario Kart, all of the Mario Sports, Smash; things like Mario Party are the exception).Having a game of the series release 5 years after the previous entry isn't milking it. Mario has had a yearly game since 2017, Zelda has had yearly games since 2017, Pokémon has had yearly games since 2018,
And nobody has a problem with it. Now, Splatoon releases a sequel 5 years after its final game, and everyone goes on how Nintendo is milking it? It makes no sense.

Yes, I would love to see Flounder Heights and Mahi-Mahi Resort return. When it comes to returning stages, I hope Flounder Heights is back. I was sad that it didn’t come back in Splatoon 2. I loved the cicada in that stage!
And of the OG maps that did make it into Splatoon 2... Kelp Dome? You had two games and more reworks to fix your problems and couldn't. It's time you take a break. Ditto for you, Moray Towers and, maybe more controversially, Ancho-V Games.
Hate to say it, but Moray Towers feels like it's the most likely to come back out of all maps that have been in both 1 and 2. It's the poster child stage for Smash, plus it was the most popular stage in both NA and EU in the vote for the final splatfest stages for Callie vs Marie. Not only that, it would also work well (and maybe even be playable) with the squid surge quickly allowing you to climb the steep walls.
For Nintendo standards they are mailking it. The first one released in 2015. The second one in 2017 now the third will release in 2022. Well they have been milking that one for years. It’s a proven franchise and one where the name means everything. It just seems like they are really throwing splatoon out. Maybe this is their version of COD.2010 - Galaxy 2
2011 - 3D Land
2013 - 3D World
2017 - Odyssey
when will the milking stop I ask ye people of famiboards
Maybe it stands out to me because the ip is new. Let’s see when we get the next ARMS game. Those IP’s are proven and have been around for a long time.Fire Emblem, Kirby, Mario Party, Metroid, Paper Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles just for the period 2015-2017. If you count any stretch of 7 years, the list grows longer still.
Kelp Dome is awesome though?
I understand not liking Towers but still personally like it a lot.
Ancho-V Games has a design that encourages spawn camping. That's pretty bad. I agree with that one.
Bluefin Depot is also my favorite missing S1 map!

Xenoblade had a new game in 2015, another one in 2017 and now a third in 2022, so it's the exact same release scheduling as Splatoon plus a port in 2015, Torna in 2018 and a remaster in 2020. That's way more than Splatoon if you count what we got besides the core games and I've not once heard anyone accuse Nintendo of milking Xenoblade. For Nintendo standards they are mailking it.
