When are people expecting the next NSO Expansion update? November, December, or not before 2022?

I want to believe in November, but I have a feeling mid-December will win out, if only to ensure all those brand new Switches being unwrapped a week later get sub to the higher tier immediately

December for sure but I wouldn’t rule out November to help with Black Friday adoption.

On past evidence I would say December is the safe bet. I'm hoping it comes with a patch, too; Zelda at Christmas is a tradition of mine and I'd like to do Ocarina with the N64 controller. Also I really, really want F Zero X.

Crackpot theory time: the next update goes live during The Game Awards, following the announcement of Goldeneye for NSO.

That's a good point, too. With the price hike of the OLED, will Nintendo attempt a price drop on the V2 to clear inventory so the OLED is the only option available?

Or is the far likelier scenario the same Mario Kart pack-in like years past?

I think if it is set for December, there's more time to develop a general catch-all patch, while November might simply be if they made improvements exclusively to OoT.

And I want to believe this crackpot theory desperately. ShpeshalNick redemption time

Happy Halloween! Always feels good to don the pirate outfit and give out some candy :)

I just got caught up on what Josh has been up to over the last 5-10 years about a week ago. He was never too nice to people in the comments on GoNintendo back in the “WiiFolder” days, but dang, that’s nothing compared to where his path went from there.

That is so cool! My gramma feeds apples to the deer that come visit her yard. They now look in the windows when they want more and come running toward us when we start throwing out new ones.

Well said.
He went from being extremely positive and energetic to ridiculous gaming opinions that make Twitter users look positive in general.

Oh, and of course the horrendous political ideology. That's pretty wild too.

Lol, imagine that posting the like to dislike ratio on a Youtube video thinking it is a meaningful metric. Lots of likes and/or dislikes means lots of engagement which also means lots of people are interested in the product. From COD, to Pokemon, to this, to this, it's the same song and dance. The Youtube protest does nothing, company ranks in a ton of money, and those angry gamers (who have already bought the product they are supposedly upset about) take another L.
People celebrating a massive corporation coming out on top after releasing a flawed, expensive product will never not be weird to me.

My two and a half months of unemployment are coming to an end tomorrow, when I start my new job. It’s exciting, but now I won’t have nearly as much time for games!

Playing games is so much more enjoyable when you have a job and you don't have to worry about employment. The best feeling is playing games while on vacation. Playing games and still getting paid.

Yeah for sure. Not to mention the adult inflatable PVC diapers he sells and his brief porn phase.

hey y’all I need to crowdsource some help for the project that some of you know I’m working on
  • what do you think a Rare Candy tastes like?
  • would you, given the opportunity, eat one in front of your Pokémon instead of giving it to them out of spite?
  • would you do this, perhaps multiple times, even if the dialog boxes told you (in different ways) each time that they tasted like shit?
also:
  • if given the option, would you put a Pokémon in a horse incinerator out of spite?
  • if there were no “release” button and your only options were limited storage or horse incineration, would you use the horse incinerator?
  • would you karmically want anyone who incinerates a Pokémon to have to face a terrifying ash cloud with the combined stats of every incinerated Pokémon as a late-game boss?
thank you in advance for your feedback!

I will say I am surprised and also not surprised that only one other person on my friends list have the Genesis and N64 apps so far considering a great many of them were from a retro gaming forum .

In order:
  • Not very good, as I imagine they're loaded with bizarre chemicals in order to induce rapid growth. Sugar alone can't cover that up.
  • No. That's mean.
  • No. That's mean and probably hell on your stomach.
  • No.
  • No. I'd just catch less.
  • Yes. That would be very funny.

Rare candies taste like a citrusy tootsie pop but without the lollipop stick and a little fizz

I would eat one out of curiosity, attempt to hide it, but would be kinda unashamed if my Pokemon saw me eat one, and tell them off; "oh come on, you know they taste good, I just wanted to see what the hype was about"

If the dialogue boxes also contributed to some fourth wall breaking (i.e. "what merciless god compels me to eat this when I know that it's awful?"), most likely yes

Re: horse incinerators
No
No
Yes

I don’t even know how to answer that.
well, I don’t know shit about PVC diapers, but all of my horrifying questions are about deeply unsettling mechanics for the Pokéclone nightmare game I’m working on.

Educational, too! For example, before today I had no idea there was such a thing as a horse incinerator.
I’m honored that I can enlighten you

typical suswave anecdote: I learned about horse incinerators back when I worked as layout director of a questionable humor magazine. one of our comrades had two main kinds of pieces: band interviews (???) and content about killing horses. He had me do logo design and “technical diagrams” for a horse incinerator sell sheet. So, as it was my sacred duty, I did my research.

now, there was plenty of debate whether or not band interviews were humor magazine content, but the dude always made it happen. His crown jewel was an interview with Opeth. I think he also managed to snag an OK Go interview — either him or someone else during that span. truly fucking wild.

That’s why horse incinerators live rent free in my head to this day. And that’s also why they’re going in the game!

That sounds great in a fucked up way. I’ll answer your questions.

• They look very tasty. I’m expecting them to taste very sweet and fruity.
• If they actually are tasty? Sure.
• Like literal shit? Probably not.
• No.
• No. I’m not Ash Ketchum who catches 32 Tauros. I’ll just get the ones I really want. On a normal playthrough of a modern Pokémon game I often don’t even fill up a single box anyway.
• Sure, that sounds great. It should still be doable though.

People aren't celebrating that, at least not most people I know of. Merely commenting that looking at something as arbitrary and ridiculous as a youtube video dislike ratio as something that has any real meaning or effect on anything is silly.

I've filled up my 1TB card with switch games. I've now had to archive a lot of my games now. If these habits carry to my steam deck, I'm gonna need a 2tb micro SD.

Hilariously, Halloween DIY recipes seem to be bugged for me this year in ACNH. Thanks to my lovely villagers, I now have 19 spooky tree recipes, which is just delightful. Maybe it's because I had all the recipes already from last year? Who knows! Funny though.

Because I’m a sick person, I’ve started feeling like I should start buying physical versions of Switch games I have digitally. I decided when I bought my Switch that I’d go primarily digital. And now it turns out I feel like having games on a physical cartridge is important and something that I want.

It started because I have nearly filled my 500gb micro sd card. So I was looking at titles that I could either archive, or buy physically to save space. And i realized that I really like the box and the cover art and the cartridge.

I’m a consumer whore. And how!

This is how I ended up triple-dipping on Sonic Mania. And I still kinda want a physical copy of Hollow Knight just to have, even though it'd offset the insanely good price I got it for digitally.

It's November here.

And that means one thing.

IT'S NANOWRIMO TIME!
Good luck!! I tried in 2018 but I only got to 25,000. It was fun, but sadly I haven't tried again since. I wish I had the devotion to try again without school on my heels! Maybe I'll try from the middle of December—January while I'm still on winter break.

Anyhoo, I hope you get to the grand ol' 50,000!

  • A rare candy tastes like cat food. Fancy Feast, to be specific.
  • If the dialogue messages were humorous, and rare candies were far easier to obtain than in earlier gens (so, on the level of Gen VIII is fine), then yes.
  • See above. I think the messages getting increasingly incredulous would be very funny and make me want to try it once.
  • I would not use a horse incinerator out of spite, no.
  • If the only options were keep or kill, I would be far more careful about which Pokemon I catch or hatch. I would probably stick to one of each species and use mints, vitamins and hyper training to improve stats.
  • I do not think a late game boss is the best kind of karmic retribution here, but I do think some kind of humorous feature-locking (e.g. some shops won't sell to you anymore or drastically jack up prices) or even just different dialogue from certain NPCs would be cool

Just wanted to post in the first main thread one more time before the month rolls over.

Famiboards is fun and cool and I’m glad to be here with y’all :)

Hope everyone is having a good Halloween!

I made a thread about gravity falls in off-topic

I am advertising it here because I want to talk about gravity falls

I am without shame
