quick prediction, the same day Mario movie first trailer gets released, Nintendo will announce a new 2D Mario action title for late march (31/03, 1 week before movie hits cinemas at USA market at least).

The Movie trailer will start with a Minion screaming "ILLUMINATION!" at the Illumination logo.
Then a Toad walks in from the side, 'Nintendo' appears, and he screams "NINTENDO!"
Then the Minion and Toad eye eachother up for a sec, before hugging

It's been an overdue, they already had Facebook and Instagram accounts for a while, but cool nonetheless!
 
Has an insider ever known about a twitter game drop or one of those Metroid or Zelda video drops? I don’t recall anyone knowing the Metroid delay video was coming or any of the AoC or Zelda delay videos were coming.

It would at least make it understandable if Nintendo was dropping a Metroid video on YouTube no one would know about it.

Happy birthday @xghost777! Hopefully you don't let the existential dread set in like I did as I approach 31 😅

Q1: Favourite cartoons and anime...I'd have to say Futurama is definitely near the top, along with Animaniacs, Avatar: TLA and LoK. Shoutout as well to Bravest Warriors on YouTube (same Pendleton Ward shenanigans you expect from Adventure Time) and OK K.O. for the Captain Planet cameo and other general tomfoolery. Anime I'm not nearly as well versed in, but I'm super late to the party on Sword Art Online and enjoying it so far at episode 7, and one day I really should go back to finish Attack on Titan after season 1.

Q2: Look, I know I stan Custom Robo an uncomfortable amount, but I also think it has some potential to make for a decent anime given the game already seems to follow many common tropes. A cybernetic thriller, murder and mystery about, a little campy humour to lighten the mood and some kickass fight scenes, almost like a tamer Akira (but like...if they did go more mature on the graphic nature of the story events from the gamecube game, that'd be sick too). The human interactions are all 2D animation, but the robot battles are CGI on par with the attract screen from the game.



I think it would have some potential. Would it be a financial time sink and take eight months just to animate one episode? Probably, but damn it would be cool

I believe the insiders knew about the Mario anniversary Direct prior to it dropping on Twitter.

I bought the Bayo1+2 pack early this year just so I could prepare for Bayo3. Still haven't played neither of them. Just decided to not bother with Bayo3 this year. I have no time to play anything for a long and interesting period of time omg

Question 1: my favorite is tough to pin down but at the moment my mind keeps coming back to Haibane Renmei. It was one of the most captivating and moving series I had seen at the time, with sweet characters, lovely background/environment design, and wonderful music. OP here:

There's like two seconds that could be mistaken for NSFW at a glance, but given the context and presentation I don't think it's bad


Also shout-out to Honey and Clover, which I fell in love with at around the same time.


Question 2: I've had ideas rattling in my head for like 20 years as to how to adapt Chrono Trigger into a film trilogy. Basically as soon as I saw Jackson's Lord of the Rings my head went "THIS! This is how CT should be done."
I thought to start each film with a prologue that gives context to essential things that happen outside the timeframe of the main story (like Glenn's flashbacks of him and Cyrus and how Magus frogged him, or the "bad end" scene in the Arris command center), and was filling plotholes with theories from Chrono Compendium. For example, if the Masamune was created from Crono stabbing the Mammon Machine with the Ruby Knife, then how was the Masamune created before Crono's intervention? Easy, Melchior did it initially, was planning to all along, and only handed it to Crono once he intervened (so the player can be the driving force of the plot). So in my version, Melchior would do it himself and Crono would only be there witnessing. I think it'd be good to give more stuff like that to the supporting cast since you don't need the main character to do everything in a movie like they tend to in games. And of course, Mitsuda composing the score.

I could go on and on but suffice to say this has been in my head for a long-ass time. 😅

And the power draw! I’m all for advancing technology but this GPU power arm race feels kind of…bad. It’s wild to me, the high-watt power supplies that have become the norm.

While true, I have a lot more faith in Mario than, like, The Secret Lives of Pets and junk. Since Miyamoto and Nintendo in general is in on it and they will NOT want it to be a disaster.
Now, it will probably still be 'a bit bland', I feel it will be pretty safe
But
I predict it will be surprisingly fun. And that Jack Black Bowser will steal the show

This is like asking me to pick children… but I’d say the 3 Getter Robo OVA’s often fight for that top slot for me so I’ll go with the one with my fave OP, Shin Vs Neo Getter Robo. It’s closer to a movie at 3 episodes but it’s a really fun what if we changed the ending of the original Getter Robo manga and led it directly into Getter Robo Go after the time skip. Just a lot of fun dynamic action and it mixes the dna of the manga and a lot of nods to the Toei cartoon.

Magic Knight Rayearth is another one high up my list, a really skillful blend of Isekai, mecha and magical girl, the second part has one of my all time favorite anime ptsd arcs, and does a great job of addressing what the consequences of them suceeding were. It also a pretty well regarded Sega Saturn jrpg

As for question 2, Getter Robo would make one heck of a character action game. The main pilot is a karate master, the second is a weapon user and a counter specialist and the third is a judo master. They all use guns, and this is before we get into the giant robot where you can have a mix of ace combat sections with a mix of form 1 and getter change maneuvering in jet form, and then ground combat, and even underwater combat in Getter 3.
 
Surprised no one has posted the NPD numbers thread yet. Xenoblade 3 still in the top 20. I predict it drops out next month though. Probably will still stay in the top 10 Nintendo though.
 
Has anyone here sent their Joy-Con or Pro Controllers in to be fixed by Nintendo? I know that Nintendo is fixing Joy-Con for free regardless of warranty status (in the U.S., at least), but I’m not sure if that also applies to Pro Controllers, since the “drift” issue with them isn’t the same (it’s basically the opposite of Joy-Con drift; rather than the stick drifting towards a direction, the stick has resistance when tilting it in a direction).

We’ve been putting it off for a long time now, but considering that my partner and I have…let’s see…five pairs of Joy-Con that are drifting and four Pro Controllers that also have stick issues, I think it’s about time we send them in for repair, lol. I guess part of the reason why we’ve been putting it off is because we’re not entirely sure what will happen…

Like, these are the kind of questions I have about the process:
  • Will Nintendo still fix drifting Joy-Con outside of warranty for free if they’ve been very lightly modified? I’m not talking shell swaps or anything like that; all we did was open them up to put some conductive foam inside our launch Joy-Con to fix the connection dropping issue.
    • If not, how must will it cost us? Will they refuse to send our Joy-Con back unless we pay?
  • Will Nintendo fix Pro Controllers for free outside of warranty like with Joy-Con?
    • If not, how much will it cost, and like with the Joy-Con above, will they keep the controllers until we pay or what?
    • If so, do they actually repair the existing controller or just give you a new replacement? If they’re replaced, what will happen to our special edition controllers if we send them in? Will they just send us standard controllers instead, and we’ll lose our special edition ones?!
  • If any of the controllers have other issues, like a shoulder button that doesn’t work, will that be fixed as well, or will we have to pay for that separately?
  • Can we send all of our Joy-Con and Pro Controllers in as one bulk repair order? Or will we have to mail each one out individually…?
  • How long do these repair orders usually take?
I’d appreciate it a bunch if anyone has any answers to these! I’m hoping to maybe send these in sometime this week, today if possible…
