I'm glad we have an official name for the Splatoon universe version of Donkey Kong Country.




Now if only we were as lucky as the Inkings and Octolings and could get a new one ourselves...

Weird. I've lived in 4 countries in 3 continents over 7 years and due to my job, been to a couple dozen countries. The stereotype of us is that we are friendly to the point of annoying and people want us to be silent. Especially Mt English friends, always thought we should shut up on elevators, lines etc.

Yeah, MercurySteam legit developed a conlang (based on the structure of English / Spanish) for Dread, which demonstrates an impressive commitment to the finer details, even despite the minimal voice acting featured in the game. The Chozo language lore in general is quite fascinating, and I can only hope they continue to expand upon it, in future Metroid games.

Interestingly, each Chozo tribe, or subculture, appears to have developed its own, independent alphabet.

This is true. We weren’t always on this path. That’s why it’s so funny when conservatives try to act like things like intercity light rail are some sort of utopian pipe dream that “wouldn’t ever work in America.” We used to have them!

Suburbia was a mistake.

I hate voice acting with people words

it’s also really easy to make it insufferable when doing workarounds

I love dialogue voice bits as done in Hollow Knight — though they can get a little repetitive and could use slightly better mixing in some cases

but the banjo kazooie style makes me ANGRY

it’s too long and sounds too stupid. this is one of my spiciest game takes. and I’ve been thoroughly annoyed by every game that took inspiration from that aspect

but yeah, sounds, but short, thought out, and more subdued is my preference

Just wait until I start rambling about NLA from XCX and how its american-styled urban planning made it the worst city hub in the entire series.

No Monolith, I do not want to take a fucking Skell ride to go from the shops to the residential area, I wanna be able to walk there.

Anyway we are about to enter the last 24 hours of Round 2 of the thread questions game, so if you want to share about your favorite anime and cartoons now is a great time!

Round 2: Splatember 11 – 20th. (Tokyo Game Show time!)

Question 1: What is your favorite anime and/or cartoons and why? Share the OPs if you want!
Question 2: Take one of your favorite anime or cartoons and design a game around it and/or vice versa by taking one of your favorite games and tell us how you want it adapted into an anime, cartoon, or movie. If you have an idea for a sequel or spin off adaption that’s cool too!

Re: America Yeah when I went on vacation there it was aggravating how you needed to drive to get anywhere. Legitimately one of the best parts of going to Disney World was the convenient bus and skyliner systems.

The people were nice though, give or take a couple of loonies. You want to deal with jerks, go to China. Brrrr.

I do it, and the environment I live in isn't even really a big urban one (it should be, given how important it is to the country's economy and how many companies are here, but a large swath of the area is just suburbia). It's pretty doable if you work from home and don't go out much, I'd probably spend more money on buying a car and paying for gas than I would just by using Lyft/Uber alone since I probably leave the house and go somewhere not in walking distance once a week on average, but I use a bus often to save even more money.

I know some people were expecting this, no game announcements at the Persona concert. It’s before or after.



Edit: the P25 site still says Autumn 2022 for announcement 7, the last one that originally said September.

Yeah, I've made two batches so far. First one was a bit of a bust since I didn't realize that the lid screwed onto the mesh filter too, so I had grounds in my coffee. But this batch has been wonderful.

I love how easy it is, takes like 3 minutes the night before.

Thank you, I suppose that is true, but as someone wh consistently lies awake feeling like life is soon over, it 'feels' very old. I do not like my birthdays for that reason, it just makes me feel negative.
At least Rabbids releases right before my birthday so maybe some Bwah can help me think of other things, hah

I think this says more about botw's poor quality va than anything else lmao.

No i really REALLY disagree, maybe on a game to game basis but samus should never open her mouth and speak gibberish for example, and the bizarre lack of VA in Skyward Sword was a major problem of the game, talking as someone who absolutely LOVES IT.

We just have to hope that Nintendo lets those people do the VA stuff that are/were responsible for the Xenoblade games and Three Houses / Three Hopes.

Retro also created a whole new language based on if im not mistaken the position of your hands, like sign language. For Echoes ofc.
The man behind it talked about it in one of the Kiwitalkz interviews, it was quite cool
 
There are a few Nintendo franchises I do really want 'proper' voice acting for.
Pokémon is the biggest one, it just feels so... stiff and lifeless with how they animate stuff yet have no sound at all. In the very least, Zelda-like grunts when a character starts to talk, would go a LONG way
And please have fulll voice acting in Splatoon single player one day. The text in cutscenes goes by so fast I can barely real them while still seeing everything happening on screen. For the sinple player, at least, I really want it.
 
Don't see why we should throw out the baby with the bathwater. Made up language VA would not have worked for me with Xenoblade, and honestly wouldn't have worked for me in Zelda either.

Hearing Fi or Midna is one thing since everyone else is silent, hearing small snippets of foreign alien bug dialogue in Hollow Knight or Metroid is fine, but an entirely made up language in a dialogue heavy game starring humans would give me a headache.

I would just want better VA.
 
Had a nice few days where my hand hasn’t been bothering me as much as usual so I took some days off to enjoy life for once and had some good days.

Oh and if things go well, my steam deck will be here tomorrow
