we’re less than 24 hours out from February, so out of curiosity — when do y’all tend to like your STs posted?

I’m a night owl on EST, so midnight EST is my first thought, but I’m happy to post sooner / later depending on what works best for everyone

Just make sure to coordinate with mods before you post it that way we know to pin yours and unpin, lock, and redirect this one. Anytime is fine, but if midnight EST works for you, that seems like a good time :)

Midnight ET works for me, as it's just early enough by PT standards that I can get a few shitposts in before bed

Confession time

As big a Scott Pilgrim nerd as I am, and as much as I am a tea>coffee guy, I have never tried Sleepytime

Now I'm about to try Sleepytime

Hey all. Reminder that voting for the Famiboards GOTY celebration ends soon! Get your votes in.

Why does it take a whole weekend to get back being not-tired, but just 1 day of work to be back being tired?

Everytime one of our kids yells how they can't wait becoming adults (or at least 18 years, which is basically the moment they're legally allowed to do anything they want on their own) the Mrs. and i can't help but actual real-life LOL at them.
Oh boy, how they will miss those sweet and easy days.

You mean the edgier Brackets? Because they literally have edges!

I actually preferred early adulthood to my childhood. It was the perfect balance of freedom and not-being-bullied-by-athletes. 😅

I mean this is a gaming forum, and many gamers find "edgy" and "cool" to be synonymous 🤷

Yeah, actually being 18 was the perfect time for me. Allowed to drive, allowed to do whatever i want, but still at school (which went to age 19 back then, unless you had to repeat classes), working part time for that sweet game money. Perfect balance of time, income and work.

Turning 19 and finishing school sucked, though. Back then, germany still had a mandatory service year for men, either 1 year of service in the Bundeswehr (the army) or doing some social service year in case you didn't wanna go to the army.
Though you could evade all that by gambling that the army would deem you unfit to serve, in which case you were not required to do social services instead.
But even if you managed to luck out, you had to deal with applying for work or college.

Also, don't ask me that edgy = cool question. The last time i thought that was more than 20 years ago.

... aaaaand now i made myself sad again.

Me 20 years ago: Knuckles is obviously the best Sonic character, he's so stoic and cool and has spikes on his hands that he'll punch you to death with, damn

Me now: TAILS IS THE CUTEST LITTLE FUCKER I WANNA BUILD AN AIRPLANE WITH HIM

I can't say "20 years ago I was playing Baten Kaitos and now I'm doing the same thing" but I can say "19 years ago I was playing Baten Kaitos and now I'm doing the same thing".

Can't remember what I did between those two points oh no

But liking Knuckles isn't edgy, it's refined taste!

Math is fun! Though I’m rusty with anything that isn’t basic arithmetic/algebra. Puts into perspective how much you forget when you’re not actively using certain skills.

Probably better to let it rest for a couple more. Stick to slower-paced games for the meantime. Or read a book.
Would tactics games or turn based games be good for a while? I’ve been playing final fantasy 7 remake.

I bought spec-ops: the line for the 360 on eBay since it got delisted from steam and it's one of those games. Reminder to buy physical whenever you can, folks, since we live in this reality.

Basically anything where you can take your time pressing buttons would work. Also means you could, say, lay down your controller on your lap and use your other fingers to press, to take the load off the usual muscles.
I have a few ideas, thanks. I’ll stay off my mobile devices some more as well.

Would y’all recommend Pokémon, jrpgs or tactics games for a strained hand? Something I can easily play with my left hand only since it’s my right hand that’s strained.
Tactics are probably your best bet, given it doesn't require too much movement and what there is can easily be handled with only your left hand 😅

Depends on whether you can find games that are playable with one joycon only. Even if they don't support it natively you should be able to map the controls in the system settings for some 2D JRPGs. Personally wouldn't recommend something where you have to hold the Switch or a controller with your right hand.

I have a couple of ideas. Mainly persona 5 tactics and octopath traveler 2.

If I recall correctly, you can play Pokémon Let's Go: Pikachu and Eevee using just one hand (with L acting as "A"). Also, Vampire Survivors.

that bear is a fascist and I’m not joking

don’t buy sleepytime tea

if you still think I’m joking, the formative dude literally believes illness is caused by “evil,” heads a foundation solely dedicated to publishing a vile white supremacist cult eugenics handbook “written by aliens,” and named the tea after concepts in the book.

Tea lore runs deep.

my dire tea warning applies to all Celestial Seasonings tea

and like. I think you’ll find some pretty bleak shit if you dig into any tea company — let’s not forget what happened for all this commodified tea, lmao

fuck you England, among others

I never thought you were joking because "are the girl scouts funding genocide" and "is BMI eugenics" are still fresh in my search history with affirmative results.

Can never trust a bear in a sleeping cap.

How’s the unit dev management? That’s the other thing that weighs me down a bit
I haven't played a whole lot yet, but everyone has a skill tree, but the party as a whole levels, not individual characters, so you don't have to worry about anyone falling behind. Also, when you get into a series of battles, units that weren't in the previous battle get a little buff, so it encouraged you to switch things up. Oh, and each unit grants a different buff to the party (like more HP, SP, gun damage, etc) just by being in the party so there's that to consider too.

That sounds manageable…. I think I’ll bite despite having P5R, and P5S in the backlog XD. Much like P5R don’t wanna miss out on what’ll be the lowest for a while

The only Celestial Seasonings tea that's any good is the peach, but it's hard to get peach wrong. Cherry gives me heartburn and lemon is just whoa-hoa sour. Unless I steeped it too long, which might be the issue.

Are there any relatively ethical tea companies you could recommend that are easily purchasable online? That brand is the only one that was available at my grocery so I just snagged a few but I'm more than happy to go another route.
