You gave ne a heart attack I thought a direct was announced when I wasn't looking.... xD

Though then I am confused what you are talking about instead, I feel like I missed something anyways...?
Oh jeez I'm very sorry about that. It's just a silly community thing. I'm going to be doing a Nintendo Direct Speculation thread/event starting in January.

Would you be disappointed if Xenoblade 3 go more in the Action-RPG area ? No more auto-attacks but light and heavy attacks instead, with skills like the Xenoblade 2.

Difficult to say. I wouldn't be opposed to it but there aren't many action RPG combat systems that I like because they often have bad hit feedback. If they can't get that right, I'd prefer they keep the current system (with some changes, like they've done for every entry).

Super Robot Wars has a crazy amount of licensing, it’s why a western release was said to be impossible before 30 happened(ironically due to switch and PS4 imports). Dynamic productions is always on the label(Mazinger and Getter), but then outside of a handful of sunrise originals(which again just goes under sunrise) you’d be surprised how many of these are individually owned(and there’s quite a few that were originally Light Novels)
Ah, I didn't even notice they were SRW games. Yeah, that makes sense.

Don't worry about it, I am the weak one for getting startled about what is basically a video game advertisement show so easily haha.

That sounds like fun, I live speculating for the sake of speculating. :D

Definitely. I love the MMO-like combat system, and I'd be disappointed if they switched to a more Action-RPG style since I'm not really familiar with any other non-MMOs with a similar combat system.

If they don't want to get into action-RPG, at least I hope the combats will be less "slow" than Xenoblade 2. X was perfect for me in this area but to be fair X has to be my favorite Nintendo game, so I am not a good judge.

If anyone is interested: I've been working on an orchestral remake of one of my favourite pieces from Legend of Mana: Bejeweled City.

It's finally done, and I figured I may as well upload it on Youtube so other people can listen to it as well. If there are any fans of the game here, feel free to give it a listen and tell me what you think:

a „video game advertisement show“ which sadly is the center of my life (and yours maybe too 😅)

I'd prefer even slow and simple turn based over what they have now.

I am a simple man: I see Legend of Mana and I Yeah!

This sounds fantastic, great job!

I’ve had this idea before.

  • Auto-attacks replaced with actual button inputs. Likely on shoulder buttons.
  • Stat-based defense replaced with input-based dodges and blocks, with stats affecting their effectiveness instead. Also likely on shoulder buttons.
  • Arts are, however, exactly as they’ve been before. Still on cooldowns and still a major part of the whole affair. XC2 style face button mapping makes the most sense here.

I just ordered this tacky piece of gamer apparel and I couldn't be happier 😁😁😁

Alternatively:
  • Face-button placement of weak attack, strong attack, and dodge/counter/whatevs laid out like a fighting game, like Y-weak, X-strong, B-dodge/counter
  • XB1/XBX-style arts pallette across the bottom of the screen, scroll through it with L/R shoulder buttons or D-pad, excecute with A
  • Arts damage is still location-based (some moves stronger from side or rear) except this extends to regular attacks as well on an enemy-by-enemy basis (some monsters have visibly heavier armor up front, for instance)
I'd honestly still prefer a more menu-based approach but if ARPG is the way forward then thats the way uh-huh uh-huh I'd like it.

No, that sounds fine. I’m not a huge fan of the combat in those games, exploring the worlds is the star of the show.

Man, we're really only 1-2 months away from a Direct. During the Switch era, I don't think the wait from one direct to the next has ever been as pleasant as this one.
it's because september was the greatest nintendo direct of all time

I think a Ys 8/9-style system for Arts makes the most sense here, where you hold a designated button (like the shoulder button) + a face button to execute an Art. Frees the face buttons up for other actions

Oh please no, scrolling through a linear art menu is annoying even in a non-action based system, I'd hate to see it in an action system.

You know when a JRPG is great? When you can spend so much time in the menu's analyzing, contemplating and designing your most proficient team without feeling bored at all.

(Is this just me)

I’d hope at least to end the mainline Xenoblade trilogy they keep the offline MMO combat since it has a unique flavor among other RPGs out there (all the big games are becoming action RPGs). I’d prefer they go back closer to 1 and X. Didn’t like 2’s combat as much as the others, felt too often fights were building to nothing since they ended too quick, and what it would if it went longer with the orbs wasn’t interesting. That said Torna shifted the priorities of that system around and I did dig Torna’s combat, so if they build off Torna I’d be fine with that.

I just hope, whatever they do, they don't block out the main quests by forcing you to do numerous side quests. Let that be a natural thing. Did not like Torna doing that.

Lol just got heckled in public for wearing a face mask. 🤦‍♂️
I'm almost always the only person in any given building wearing a mask, and I have also been harassed for it.
* sigh * People. 🙄
My Yeah was not in support of the heckling, btw, it was meant in solidarity.

Well it isn't the center of my life but it certainly is one of the few things I can always look forward to in my mundane day-to-day happenings. Especially during a pandemic where many of the usually fun things just don't happen.

Sitting in Germany being baffled once again that the US doesn't have a mask mandate anymore...

Meanwhile people without vaccinations can't even go shopping here anymore outside of groceries (I don't wanna start a political discussion so I won't tell you about my stance on this whole thing, it doesn't concern me anyways because I am vaccinated& boostered).

Somedays I definitely wish I was sitting in Germany being baffled lol.

Love how I pull KOS-MOS from one random common core Crystal haha.....

Please Monolith, do not do this again with the next Xenoblade.

Finished Mother 3 again tonight. What a perfect game. I remain hopeful it will be released here one day. I feel like something's going on with the Mother/Earthbound franchise over at Nintendo. It's at least on their mind. There's a reason the first 2 games aren't on NSO yet.

I actually quite like Xenoblade 2, but for 3 my main wishes would be better character designs, get rid of the cringe moments in cutscenes, and none of those skill check gates that can stall progress in the story.

2 had the heart of a great game rendered merely good by some baffling design choices. Fix those and 3 could be one of the shining gems of the Switch library.

So how did Cadence of Hyrule do?

It got DLC long after it released so I figured it did well. But we never really got details I feel. I could be wrong.

Also it’s a shame that soundtrack didn’t get any sort of offical release. I thought it would.

One of their rare duds but it's balanced out by them making the best game ever, Sin & Punishment 2.
Balanced by that? Astro Boy & Gunstar Super Heroes did that job way before Isa Joe.

And Wario World is NOT a dud at all. It's just... overshadowed by Sony platformers.

At least Shigesato Itoi keeps it alive through Hobonichi. I think we can expect something Mother-related in the near future.

Ah shit I have a really awful cough. I'm hoping it's just the tail end of this cold but I'd love a free at home COVID test like Biden promised me.
