Just caught up with the thread, looks like I didn't miss much from the dorito pope , at least I kept my expectations low so not dissapointed that we didnt get any big reveals. Kinda weird we didn't at least get something like golden eye or chrono chross tho, like Nintendo showed off nothing, well at least the direct is coming up soon

Tina Turner just released a new remix EP for the Goldeneye theme.

This definitely confirms the game coming to NSO, right?

I expected nothing from Nintendo, and I thought the show as pretty good this year.

I will say I predicted almost none of the awards, but really happy for all the winners.

One good thing that came out of The Keighleys was I managed to convince my normally-video-game-averse partner to play It Takes Two with me 😁
The only thing stopping me from playing it with my partner is hunting down a PS5. I only have one PS4 controller and I don't really want to pick-up another one when I could pick up another controller for the eventual PS5 instead.

Apparently if you want to play with a Dualsense and a Dualshock 4 - how I intended to - you need to get the PS4 version, not the PS5. Doesn't seem ideal

It Takes Two genuinely is one of the best games I’ve played in a long time. It absolutely blew me away and totally deserves the GOTY award.

I think one of my main issues with the Keighleys is the categories. What even is a “role playing game” if Monster Hunter Rise is considered for it? Game genres are (and have been for a while) a mess. What I’d love to see are awards like “best gamefeel” or “most satisfying gameplay loop” or “most impressive performance.”

How do you all feel about indie games these days?
They're my only hope

seriously though aside from a handful of biggies like Zelda, Mario, Sonic, and Xenoblade, my gaming consumption is almost entirely indies and tiny studios these days, and it's been that way for years.

One of the most interesting rewards is the audio design award and they shat it out in less than a minute and didn’t even play footage from the game! What a missed opportunity to show the audience why sound is super important for a video game and they treat the award like it’s nothing.

As someone with no stake in the show or announcements and a group to shoot the shit with, I had fun with the TGAs. The Cuphead DLC and Among Us VR were probably my personal highlights, albeit for very different reasons. Understand why most people are disappointed, though.

They're great, usually a heavy presence on my GoTY list, though not this year mostly because I didn't really buy any. Which is honestly one of my main regrets gaming wise for this year, I was usually just busy with other games at the time, even though in hindsight I'd have probably liked the indies more than what I was playing. Then I was waiting for sales and many of the indies I've been interested in from this year have yet to have eShop sales.

In any case, pretty excited for the usual December Indie World, they're usually pretty fun presentations even if a lot of my favorite indies aren't the ones that feature in them (then again, CrossCode did feature in an Indie World and that's my favorite indie and my second favorite video game, so at least one amazing thing has come out of them for me)

Some of my favorite games I’ve played all year have been indies. The last game I played with my wife, called Unpacking, was such a great “unwinding” game before going to bed. I loved it.

I’ve never understood the mentality of “AAA or nothing.” You are sleeping on so much of that the industry has to offer.

First time I’ve ever seen a dog on a plane. It’s sitting right behind me. I think it’s some kind of helper dog.
We used to bring our dog in the plane for my wife’s anxiety. The dog never barks or anything and is hypoallergenic, so most people were happy to have one on the plane. But the support animal stuff went insane for a while, so airlines cracked down.

So many great games, so little time to play them. Guess another Indie- Presentation is around the corner?

What's the surprises for this one? Silksong? Valheim? Subnautica two degrees upwards?

Yeah so far I haven’t heard anything from this dog. It’s so quiet.

big fan, but the standouts take a lot of work and heart

wish there were more mid-level “handheld experiment” style games from major companies these days because weird + polish + a little bit of budget and expertise is a great combo

but indie games are really great (with a lot of okay ones, mediocre ones, and full-on duds in the mix)

I agree that the TGAs need less "genre" awards. It gets silly having 10 different awards for 10 different genres.

At least you got sonic of the wild
Love em
Indies are where some of the most interesting and innovative ideas in gaming get created, so feel pretty awesome about them.

Awesome! I'm the same way. I love playing smaller indie games before going to bed.
Hopefully you'll like some of the announcements this month.

I have it and would love to play it, but my partner gets motion sick really fast with 3D games unless they’re fixed-camera

someday I’ll be able to play it

someday

Whoa, have y'all seen the Matrix gameplay videos? It looks genuinely nuts in terms of graphics. It looks real.

Btw Nintendos showing at tga 2013 (cranky kong) was technically better than this years cause at least they showed something that year. Just found that funny

One of my friends at Digital Foundry was blown away by it. Truly incredible.
This might have genuinely made me believe in the simulation theory. If we can do this now with our current tech, what will things look like ten years from now? What about twenty? With our advances in AI and graphical fidelity, we're already 90% of the way there.

It's amazing how the best thing to come from this presentation is another movie tie-in lol

So just wake up. Happy I decided not to watch TGA. Some cool stuff though. Alan Wake 2, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. It's cool. No Chrono Cross.

The Sonic movie looked like a pretty fun romp of a kids movie.

Do they introduce Shadow in the third movie???? Amy? Rouge?
I actually kinda hope they keep Shadow away... I know he's popular and all but I'm really not a fan of Grimdark Vegetavoice The Hedgehog. I like the Genesis lineup: Sonic, Tails, Amy, and for the rivals, Knuckles and Metal Sonic. If this movie is gonna introduce Knuckles then the next movie can introduce Metal and I think we'll be good. If they try to start bringing in Shadow or Chaos or things like that I'm worried it'll get to Spiderman 3 levels of villain bloat.

Edit: I just realized we're about to get yet another Spiderman 3 where they came up with an excuse to shoehorn in way too many villains. That's.... I mean.. they have to be doing that on purpose, right?

One of the five "BotW2 missing the Game Awards means it won’t come out until 2023" threads

You were biding your time, weren’t ya?

The Game Awards Twitter said the Monster Hunter Trailer was from Nintendo of America so they still had something of probably more substance this year. I don’t care about Monster Hunter so I guess Cranky somehow wins for me lol.

Eh, even for Monster Hunter fans like myself the trailer wasn't really much. Some new designs and all but no gameplay footage as of yet. New monster looks cool enough though, like the design even if it is a bit on the simple side for a Rise monster.

Ok yeah it felt a little weak, but I didn’t really know what I was looking at to say either way.

Gotta say I do appreciate the follow through here. I was busy when it actually happened, so this is the 1,000th thread in my heart :)
