StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

I can literally only see the capcom game being Monster Hunter 6 and the only venues big enough to launch something with under a 6 month marketing campaign are switch 2 announcement or the Game awards followed by an insane blowout. I'd bet on the game awards any day of the week tbh.

According to Capcom leaks, MH6 IS planned for this FY.

So that's interesting.
That list is outdated lot of titles have missed their initial date such as Street Fighter 6, Dragon Dogma 2 and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Most titles got delayed a year or year and a half going by releases.

I see from his Twitter profile he's owner of InsiderGamingIG - other than that, who is he? (not familiar with that name)

If he's legit, good to hear!
He is super legit. At least recently, especially on the hardware front. He's the reason I knew I was born to be a Playstation Portal hater frame 1.

Him knowing about a lot of next gen support is really good to hear. Devs are not making the same mistake they made in 2017 and will likely support this thing from the jump. Nintendo directs will be free from the shackles of crusty farming games.

Also, I don't get why we all assuming it's MH6 the March title. It could easily be another Resident Evil title like a Remake of 1 or a new spin-off that started production in late 2020/Early 2021.
on my part i dont know if it will release on march, but the 20th anniversary of the franchise is next year, so it could be possible that the next game come out next year

12-18 months btw. Late next year
Copium but maybe it's just things will be staggered/out of sync a bit for Switch 2 launch window, before eventually settling into cadence of hearing Switch 2 (whatever the name will be) next to other consoles on a regular basis.

Edit: Yeah, like what eye0h said above.

Monster Hunter 20th anniversary is happening in march of next year, a perfect oportunity to release Monster Hunter 6 to celebrate the franchise 20th anniversary.

Well according to Nate Square Enix even though Nintendo have given them Switch 2 dev kits a long while ago has no plans to release a several years old PS4 game to the Switch 2. My point is; Even thougn the Switch 2 may have the power we speculate it will have there is no certainty at all that many of these Japanese third party companies will port over games that will clearly be able to run on the Switch 2 at all, if not Square Enix would have started work on porting over FF7 remake as soon as they got their dev kits if they were going to release more games on a Nintendo system now that the system is going to run those games easily. Meanwhile Ubisoft is already planning day and date releases of Far cry 7 on the Switch 2.

That is what i meant by my expectation that western third party studios will continue to be more positive on releasing their games on the Switch 2 over the likes of Capcom and Square Enix.

Square Enix will continue to see Nintendo as an ecosystem that is mostly fit for releasing retro JRPG games in the mold of Octopath traveller.
But my point was about the XBox, if SE wants to keep FF exclusive to PS platforms there's not much Nintendo can do, what I wouldn't believe is multiplatform games being released on the XBox Series S and skipping SNG (if what we know about the hardware is right).

I reached out to Takashi last week about the whole March million seller comment. Seems like he is confident in his hearing.

This feels like a strong upcoming corncob considering how close we are to March and how Capcom has basically said that they're announcing the next Monster Hunter in March.

He probably just misheard announce as release.

Y'all are debating what this means about a release date but I'm just thinking about how this could mean we might be getting more leaks/news soon and that makes me excited.

It will be interesting to see if having Switch 2 SKU day 1 will affect PS5/XBS HW/SW sales or it will expand the market.

Forgive my ignorance and lack of knowledge, but who is Tom Henderson? I’ve seen the name mentioned before.
He runs insider gaming, leaks a bunch of stuff in the AAA space. Recently known for leaking the abomination that is the Playstation Portal as well as the specs for the still rumoured PS5 Pro. I think he also leaked the PS5 "slim" with the removable disc drive too.

He's a huge asshole who is really good at getting people to break their NDAs, probably the best leaker in accuracy+amount of leaks (though the leaks are often not useful and are for clicks)
LOL

Would be nice if he leaked that T239 is on 5nm.

Thank you both!

I don't expect the dev kit spec sheet to make any mention of process node being used since that's not useful information for video game developers.

I think most likely, that information is going to come from Nvidia directly, which I have doubts about, or someone doing an in-depth die shot analysis after launch, which is more likely, but very expensive.

Even if we dont get big third party games at least we know the first party games will continue to be fire, people will still buy the switch 2 for first party games
Yeah. But the thought of finally not needing to have a Gaming PC/Another console to play AAA 3P is really nice. Imagine being able to play Mario, Zelda and Fire Emblem in the same machine that plays Resident Evil, Pragmata, Assassin's Creed, COD, etc. Really amazing.

That's probably going to come directly from Nvidia, which I have doubts about, or from someone doing an in-depth die shot analysis after launch, which I think is much more likely, although very expensive.
But we can make a pretty reasonable guesstimate based on draw power and other components in the system alone, without doing the die shot analysis right?

I'd be surprised if the next MH could run on the Switch 2, no matter how much I would love for that to happen. World pushed PS4 to the limit and they want to add even more on. Although maybe seeing how good a combo MH and Nintendo are, they're going to be putting concentrated effort into a Switch 2 version working?
It should be noted that a lot of third-party companies were off guard with the popularity of the Switch. To prepare for the successor, I believe more companies will consider developing games with more scalability in mind.

In the case of Capcom, MH is popular in Japan, they are even porting games to the iPhone, and it will be much more expensive to make two distinctive PS4+ quality MH projects than to just focus on one with good scalability.

Yes. Based on power draw + battery size and battery life, we can make a reasonable guesstimate. And, even without the die shot analysis to confirm which node it's fabbed, we would just need someone to open/dissassembly their console and see on the chip/SoC markings to see if it's fabbed on Samsung or TSMC.

If we know the clocks, the battery life, type of battery, the size of the system etc yea.

Just like we more or less knew the switch was 20nm once the clocks leaked.

Is other components referring to the RAM, internal flash storage, etc.? If so, that doesn't really tell us anything about the process node.
