I watched the Game Awards back when they were still called the Spike Video Game Awards but for some reason they weren't hosted by this guy

and I haven't tuned in since

So which of these two are you Nintendo fans gonna be playing this Friday Early December?

The new, revolutionary sequel in a decades-old beloved franchise which has spanned generations. One that allows you to compete together against your friends, or enjoy a rich singleplayer experience that aims to challenge both your wits and your reflexes. Using next-gen hardware to implement cutting-edge gameplay ideas never before seen in its series

Or Halo: Infinite?
I'll probably still be on SMT for a while, I'm guessing I'm around 3/5 of the way through the game atm, maybe less. Also dug out my old Xbox One for Gamepass, currently playing through Unsighted (pretty good so far but I'm not very far into the game)

I still need to finish BDSP, and after that it's back to SMT V. I also wanna finish up Ratchet and Clank, too. Maybe get some more PS5 games. Maybe one of the Life Is Strange games?
Start with LiS1 (Remastered if you're fine waiting a bit). That is the quintessential 'Life is Strange' game that, honestly, hasn't really been topped in many ways.

Then, if you want more, go onto:

  • Before the Storm if you want to stay in Arcadia Bay a bit longer and learn more about Chloe/Rachel
  • LiS: True Colours if you want a new story with a much more similar vibe to the original
  • LiS2 if you want a very different-feeling story with an epic (relative to the other games) scope

None of the above are as good as the first one, but they're all good games. Though honestly the entire series has never been exactly 'high-art'; the games are like the equivalent of popcorn action movies for twee hipsters who love breathy indie rock.

Like me.
Are we calling The Game Awards The Keighleys now
It's easier to type than "The Game Awards" and less awkward-sounding than "The TGAs" (or 'The The Game Awards') :p

I legit don't know what online gamerpeople play so I have to ask... is Fall Guys still relevant?
not really. it's popularity is a small fraction of what it used to be. by the time the switch port is ready hardly anyone's gonna care.

What the fuck is taking so long?? The game isn't graphically intense or anything.
it can't be just that the switch/xbox ports are taking so long. there has to be something else delaying the game coming to other consoles.

I won't watch much of The Keighleys because of the timing and the usually absurd bloat and pace of the event, but I'll be interested to see what Switch stuff shows up.

It's the aperitif of Nintendo news before the next Indie World, which will then probably be followed by Pokemon Presents in January and a Direct in February.

UK finally showing signs of having good taste?!?

Just kidding.
Maybe.
Would it matter? UK becoming a Nintendo country won't change anyone's minds:

"Oh, so even UK loves Switch so much! This thing will be one of the most successful game consoles in the history! I should go make more super expensive exclusives for a system that only has 15 million of install base instead and cry when that AAA game fails. Because I cannot make good decisions, obviously"

Industry needs to follow more market demands and trends.

but Chrono Cross will be there, so I have no issues with anything else. Delay BOTW2 until 2030 for all I care
Hell, at this point cancel BotW2 for all I care, if it brings back Chrono.
yeah I said it, fight me

I think it depends on the scope of the game: They could cleanup the backgrounds and redo the character models and such and call it a day, and honestly I'd be happy with that. But if they're going for a more 3D-scale massive changeup then that wouldn't work, obviously. Trials of Mana is still pretty even if it's a bit basic, so I could maybe see that working, but it'd be a big undertaking.
I think Cross turning out looking like Trials of Mana is my exact fear. Trials was good, but kinda bland to my eyes for some reason. Cross should be painterly and bold and look larger than it is. If that makes sense. If they just FFVIII'ed the polygonal parts and did a better job of upscaling the backgrounds it'd be perfect. And Mitsuda coming back to do something more with the music? Perfecter.

Chrono cross should come included with the original chrono trigger when you buy it, change my mind
it would be so odd to announce the remaster for chrono cross for consoles unless it's being announced alongside trigger coming to consoles as well.
I'm seriously expecting Cross and Trigger to land at the same time, and I figure the reason we're only hearing about Cross is because it's the only one being remastered. Trigger should be a just a good port and it'll sell like hotcakes (to me, I will buy multiple copies).

I own the Chrono Cross soundtrack.

It’s fantastic
I used to carry it with my portable CD player every time we went on a trip. That OST was my soundtrack of my life as a teen. ❤️

FYI my Spotify rolled into Schala's theme just now, so that's awesome.

Not really. It would gain some popularity back if it was on more systems, but Mediatonic keeps delaying them into oblivion.

not really. it's popularity is a small fraction of what it used to be. by the time the switch port is ready hardly anyone's gonna care.

That's what I thought but didn't want to assume. Makes me wonder why they're still bothering.

I don't think so. And it shouldn't be, because it's bad. It's the Goldeneye of competitive platformers.

oohh that's a paddlin'

I agree tho

- With the Metroid Dread nomination- perhaps a very slight CG teaser for Metroid Prime 4, that hints at some notable story thing. No release date/window given.
Change this to be about the Prime Remake instead, and you'd have my basic prediction. Of course, I wouldn't say "no" to a Prime 4 teaser, too, either!

Knock off this goldeneye slander or I'll meet you in the facility, slappers only.

Derachi and I will slip away between framerate refreshes, you'll never catch us.

In all seriousness, I still love the GoldenEye singleplayer but its technical shortcomings haven't been kind to it.

Every time Nintendo fans complain about not having a new Mario Kart more people are made aware of the greatness that is MK8DX so they go out to buy it which makes Nintendo wait with MK9. It's become self sustaining.

MK8DX is one of Nintendo greatest games but I'm getting tired of playing the same tracks ever and ever again.
I understand that the game is selling very well but at this point it's getting ridiculous for the people who are here since the WiiU.

To this day I can only aim in shooters at 15FPS or less, it's like slomo.

alright, NOW ST3 is fully ready to go barring any other last-minute additions that I'll absolutely make more complicated than they need to be

It's not just the Switch, it's not on Xbox yet either. It's baffling. Wasn't this supposed to come out last summer?

Isn't it basically the first game from a pretty small dev? It's likely a lot more important for them to work on the continuous updates and content for their already established audience on Playstation / PC (to ensure they don't move on to something else) than it is to slow those updates down and work on the other versions. Eventually maybe they will find someone to outsource the ports to

Or Halo: Infinite?
Can't decide if I want to take the time out to play the Halo: Infinite campaign or not. 343 finally got the multiplayer right, did they get the campaign right this time as well? Might just stick to the Halo books for my story fix, to be honest.

I considered that, but there's two things which made it seem less likely to me for Metroid Prime HD:

  • One is, to my memory, Nintendo has never outright announced a new first party title at the TGA's, only given updates to already announced ones.
  • Two, I feel that Metroid Prime HD is likely something they'll announce and release within a few months, something they'd reveal at E3 for an August/Sept release.
