Yes that's the rumor. I just finished a replay of FF9 after close to two decades of last watching my brother play through the whole thing. It's honestly much better than I ever remembered. So much so that I think it might actually be my favorite Final Fantasy. I've played through OG FF7 and FFXII again and while those were at the top of my list, they have a few wrinkles that my nostalgia blinded me to that caused me to see them in a less positive light after replaying them (thought still great games!) The opposite happened with FF9 in that I appreciated the themes explored so much more as an adult. My wish with a FF9 remake is really for the gameplay to be revamped into something more engaging / challenging while keeping everything else about the scenario and visuals relatively the same (plus toning down on Zidane's skirt chasing characterization).
 
With Resident Evil out, I’m leaning towards either the Metroid Prime Remaster or Xenoblade 3 being the Game Awards reveal. I think Xenoblade 3 has a really good shot given the leaked premise of the game being more darker and Nintendo wanting to grow the franchise. Having more core gamer eyes on it beyond the Direct audience would help.

Goldeneye is definitely another solid contender, but since Microsoft would also get it I think that would be an extra announcement beyond whatever the main Nintendo thing is.

I don’t think Breath of the Wild 2 will be there, it’s too far out as either the holiday 2022 game or an early 2023 game.

I really hope those Tactics Ogre Remaster and Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster listings are real because both games were great on the PSP (and Vita) and it would be a shame for both to fade away on Sony's dead handheld line.

They won't wait a decade before making other FF related content. FF9R won't have the same budget as FF7R too.

Yeah it was mentionned in the GeForce Leak. It is apparently coming next year and would line up with the TV show in the works.

Thank you. I think that's one of the really wonderful things about gaming; through it I've made new friends, become part of new communities, now it's even helped me find a partner.

Some of my happiest memories are playing Mario Kart with friends in University all night or Wii Sports Resort with my mum and stepdad and laughing and cheering til we had tears in our eyes.

Sometimes, video games can be magical.

We're about to have an insane year for Square on Switch.

We have already announced games:
  • Triangle Strategy
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
  • Chocobo GP
  • Life is Strange Remastered

And the rumored stuff:
  • Chrono Cross remaster
  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Tactics Ogre
  • Final Fantasy IX remake (most likely next years AA Switch RPG)
  • Nier Replicant

Other than those, we might get more Feral x Square Europe games. And there's a tiny chance that Dragon Quest III remake could make it to next year, though I'm not hopeful.

Another "tiny chance" for Square changing their mind about Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 for a native port. Better never say never.
 
It's snowing on my Animal Crossing island right now, and I couldn't be happier. I haven't seen snow in so long. It made an otherwise shitty day a lot better.

God, why am I getting emotional over a kids social sim?
 
My computer has started making some weird ass sounds. Lots of capacitor whines and weird whirrs. Once I have a job and money I'll probably build another one instead of upgrading. I could even wait for DDR5 to be standard and build something then

Same! Actually if they just make battles be much faster without resorting to a fast forward (which I am not fond of as it makes everything look silly) and make the card game easier to understand I’d be happy lol

Most likely a lower budget game since the leak has the release date for next year (date is not accurate though, maybe just the year). It's not weird, Switch already has the regular FF9.

Switch has regular ff7 as well, but not ff7 remake

There's one RE project i'm fairly confident was canned, one referenced in files stolen during the randsomeware attack; RE HUNK. Curious if wires were potentially crossed there.

I've got no clue about the status of Rev 3 personally, haven't heard anything new in months. Outrage only muddled things and now I can't really be 100% confident in it existing at all.

Big Nvidia database leak. Nvidia commented and said it was a "speculative" internal list, but then games on the list started getting revealed around the times the leak showed they were expected. So now we're waiting for the rest with fingers crossed.

Hunk is something I know very little about.

Outrage I'm reasonably confident no longer remains in active development.

Revelations 3/RE Switch... maybe is an external project & that has made info more challenging. As it stands, I side with the project having been canned given the lack of info in recent weeks.

Sounds like it's trying to talk to your toaster to plan their combined escape from your possession. Keep an eye on those two.

These four games are such an amazing set for me personally that I feel like this has to be false somehow. Like, we can't really be getting remasters of all of these on Switch in the near future, right? Someone's going to jump out of the bushes and tell us it was all a prank?

I'd be thrilled to get just ONE of these. All four would be ridiculously good.

Wonder what square will put on switch first the pixel remasters or one of those games in that list
 
Great shame that RE Switch is likelly canned or has/had development issues.

btw, if those FFT and Tactics Ogre remasters are true, I hoped they are based on PSP versions…

I hope the Chrono Cross announcement happens at the TGA's. Besides it and RE, I'm not up to date with rumors (And really don't wanna know tbh lol).

Just give more JRPG's. The more, the merrier.
