Hey everyone, staff have documented a list of banned content and subject matter that we feel are not consistent with site values, and don't make sense to host discussion of on Famiboards. This list (and the relevant reasoning per item) is viewable here.
but Your Lie In April is sooo kyoooot tho also one of my absolute favorite series is Honey and Clover but I dunno if that counts as "super sad romance" even though it has sadness and romance
As someone who loves classical music (especially piano like Chopin) and also loves tragedy and melancholy, Your Lie in April was pretty great. It's also rather hopeful and uplifting... while also being really sad and tragic? In a weird way?
Looks like GameStop accidentally listed switch games for the discount amount rather than the intended price. Get on those new first party games for $27 if people want them. Includes FE, BOTW, paper Mario, splatoon 2, Kirby, NSMBU deluxe, xenoblade.

On the topic of anime, trying to find 5 Centimeters Per Second online is such bullshit. Apparently it's not available digitally in the US at all, and physical versions are all out of stock or upwards of 50 bucks. This is a Makoto Shinkai movie. How the fuck is it this hard to watch?
Some in this community have ascertained that I am in fact a weeaboo. But what even these perceptive people fail to realize is that I am the biggest weeaboo on this site.
I know who Harry Hosono is. I know that Tatsuro Yamashita played castanets on Ryuichi Sakamoto's first album. I have this link in my bookmarks. I own two Sun Hemmi slide rules. I know Douglas MacArthur only as the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers. There is no one on this website that is even my peer in weeaboohood.
I view it like this: Books and animation are gateways into someone else's imagination. Live-action is someone else's imagination compromised by reality.

Seems like it might not be a price error, GameStop is advertising it as $26.99 on their promotional material too. So it'll probably still be active tomorrow!

Is anyone expecting NWH to match Spiderverse? Sorry, scratch that. Is anyone expecting any MCU movie to match Spiderverse? I say this as someone who likes the MCU.

As someone who is often sarcastic on the internet and sometimes fears I'll be taken dead seriously, I feel ya here. I had a feeling that OoT post was sarcastic because it sounds like the type of outrageously hype fanservice that Nintendo would never do.

I didn’t love it, but I liked it and had fun playing most of the stages with friends. They added more playable characters in free updates to celebrate the whole franchise which was neat. (Maybe an extra mode??) It’s fairly short, even by Kirby standards. Final boss is super rad.
Super Star, Amazing Mirror, and Planet Robobot are my favorite traditional Kirby games. I’ve played every traditional Kirby game and I’m not sure where Star Allies would rank, maybe lower middle?
I enjoyed it. It's a fun romp, and it brings back a lot of the older Kirby er... allies that have been missing for a while. It's also quite pretty. It's not revolutionary or anything, but it's an enjoyable time for a "standard" Kirby game.
Finally finished Metroid Dread, what an amazing ride. My only previous Metroidvania game was Ori and the Blind Forest, so this was quite a challenge lol. But I managed to clear it (not with 100% items, mind you). I love the visual style and the sheer effort put into the visuals and dynamic environments. The gameplay is unlike anything I've played, and really well done. Some bosses got under my skin, but it happens. Overall, this is an amazing game, and completely worth the universal acclaim and the incredible sales for the franchise.
Also:
That final boss fight is probably the best final boss I have ever encountered in any game ever. Simply astoundingly well done, each phase was interesting, challenging but fair, and simply awesome! I had to go a number of times, but each time I learned the phase I was getting stuck at better and better, and I quickly got the skill to beat the First and then the second phase without much damage. I think I only had to do the final stage twice, since it was quite similar to the first phase.
Regarding the ending: what even is going on? The chozo was an X-parasite (right?), but what did it do to Samus? I don't get what happened. Did it remove her Metroid DNA? Or did something else cause the green charged suit to be removed? Please help me understand!

It's implied the Chozo Quiet Robe took control of the X parasite version of himself, presumably through some Chozo mysticism given the music in that scene. He is a member of a tribe that had the power to control the Metroids, so by absorbing his X parasite, in the same way she does to gain health or powers from others throughout the game, she absorbs the ability to control/suppress her Metroid DNA.

Thank you! Maybe I should buy the 3ds games instead? I have heard a lot of good things about Planet Robot, I can probably buy it cheaper than Star Allies. I wanted to revisit / visit a few Kirby games before the Forgotten Country arrived.

I reckon Raven Beak was going to use this version of the x parasite to take the Metroid DNA from Samus and use it for himself, but instead Quiet Robe used it to save her.

This lineup could beat 2017 for me, depending on how good Kirby is in comparison with Super Mario Odyssey (a GOAT year needs a strong 3d platformer, after all!). As mentioned in a later post, I can see most of this coming to fruition, and that's why I'm very hyped about what 2022 could bring (and I'm really enjoying 2021 as well, so great times!).
That seems weird. I don't know what Splatoon gains from a summer release. But given how strongly the IP skews towards Japan, perhaps I shouldn't expect to understand what Nintendo thinks makes sense marketing-wise (since I don't live in Japan).
Or maybe I shouldn't expect to understand it because I'm not into marketing in general
Monolith’s Tokyo office split into two production groups after Xenoblade 2. PG1 works on Xenoblade and PG2 works on Zelda. It was presumably done to prevent what happened with Xenoblade 2’s development again.
Then there’s the Kyoto office which assists on a number of EPD titles like Animal Crossing and Splatoon.
