So Mario Party Superstars is looking to have small drops everywhere.

NA sales must be super high too.

That’s a plus for their online subscription with a huge title that works.
I still think a free update is incoming(if not paid dlc in the long term)

One thing I will say against Disco Elysium is that auto saves are not frequent enough. If you die or the game crashes, you can lose a lot of progress, especially when there are long as fuck conversations in between. I probably lost like an hour’s progression earlier. :/

Good/bad to know about GTA not exactly working well.

Good because I won't buy it (yet).

Bad for obvious reasons.

I hope they fix the issues eventually, because I'm really interested in portable PS2-era GTA. Maybe it'll even be cheaper by then!

It seems SW KOTOR has some framerate issues too. It's not live yet but I'll try once it is.

This year every other release suffers from framerate issues. I found a new slogan for Switch: Nintendo SwitchTM: If you're allergic to bad framerates, back to PC you go!

Hopefully it'll get improved over time - I've more interest in picking that up, given the low price point and given it's a long-time favourite of mine.

Star Wars KOTOR impressions: So far so good!

It looks like Aspyr's best work yet. I'm at the start of the game but it seems it's solid 60 fps. And a first in Aspyr ports on Switch: HD textures and UI! It looks like they smoothed things out instead of using actual HD textures and UI. Still, looks very good. I hope framerate keeps up throughout the game, I know there will be some busy scenes.

Promising. May buy it and stick it in the pile and wait for my Christmas break.

Not sure that this warrants a new thread, but I was wondering where you all stand on the physical VS digital debate, specifically on Switch. I'm torn because the portable nature lends itself well to digital, and games I play all the time (or online ones) are more convenient. Give me your thoughts!

I've generally landed on digital for the following:
  • Multiplayer focused game (Splatoon / Mario Kart / Monster Hunter)
  • Games that I will play on and off for a long time (Animal Crossing / Pokemon / Monster Hunter)
  • Indies
I will generally go physical for more single player stuff that is kind of one and done. (Xenoblades / SMT / Metroid Dread)

The thing that is really causing me to second guess this, is that I have young children that will likely get their own Switch at some point. Thinking about how to purchase games in such a way that multiple Switches will have access is making Physical seem much more appealing. I know there is some stuff that can be done with digital purchases, but it isn't ideal and doesn't really scale beyond 2 Switches. I do wish there was some way to fully share games within an NSO family plan (perhaps the expansion tier), but I realize that with 7 slots, too many people would likely abuse it.

The trailer got me super hyped despite completing the game like 4 times in the past. Might pick it up sometime in the future

I regret getting Animal Crossing physically for this reason. It's awkward to combine a daily check-in with an event game.

Ubisoft turning everything they do in a live-service title to milk be like

The more they pull this shit the more my interest in their titles wanes. I was already pretty fatigued on their formula, and I haven't even played Valhalla or FC6.

They'll collect and even break EA's record on Golden Poop Award very soon. They're slowly descending to becoming most hated company ever.

And no, I'm not gonna say "but hey at least they're making Mario + Rabbids for Switch". Once Soliani and team leaves Ubisoft we won't get anything close to it from them ever again. Hopefully Nintendo snatches Team Soliani and has them create a new Advance Wars!

Hey has anyone ever had an extremely important FedEx package be a week late in getting to the destination city, only to spend several more days stagnant in said city, before showing as "out for delivery" for three days in a row without ever actually arriving, and each phone call made only resulting in assurances that it is on the van and will be to you in a couple hours, only for it to fuckin not be?

It's really stressful!
👍

I haven't felt this way since they did this with my Dread CE
I’ve had this problem with both FedEx and UPS packages lately. My FedEx’d Metroid Dread CE and the MH amiibo were the ones that got me going the most, but now I’m getting slightly more chill every time it happens. That said, it’s still stressful for me every time, too!

Someone else asked this a day or two ago and I meant to give my opinion to them as well, but regretfully spaced it. I started making a transition to digital when retail games hit the 3DS eShop and then was probably 98% digital with Wii U, but because of sales and Black Friday Deals on physical games generally being better than digital prices, I’ve bought a lot more physically on Switch than I had planned. I still make sure to get games I’ll keep going back to digitally, though (because like you pointed out, it’s just so much more convenient than switching carts, especially when playing docked.)

F-Zero more like F-Hero
Say amen! There he goes again. Sweet and undefeated, and an awesome 10 for 10.
Folks lined up just to watch him flex, and this perfect package packed a pair of pretty pecs.

Uff gta turned out shit I'm really sad. I was looking forward to play gta and SMT5. It would have been a great mix. Now it's just gonna be smt5. If I don't end up getting weak and buy pokemon next week too.
Dang, what a bummer. Hope they get the issues ironed out because I really want to get GTA on Switch. (If it’s at least tolerable, I may roll the dice, get it anyway, and hope for a patch… but I better do some research first.)

Congrats on the 5G. You'll never have to pay for internet ever again.
I thought I peeped you browsing Fami on your phone on the other side of Dealey Plaza. (All these other suckers on here are gonna regret not being in Dallas with us when zombie JFK Jr. makes his triumphant return!)

I'll take my chances with zombie JFK almost anywhere else but Texas. At least other places may put up some resistance. Abbot would surrender to zombies immediately while Ted hitches a ride to Mexico.

I went 100% digital on all platforms last year and it's the best gaming-related decision I've made in a very long time. I'll probably never buy another physical piece of software again.

I'd care a lot more about media apps on Switch if the Switch was designed around being a media centre and you could watch or stream while you play.

Anywho, that's clearly not what's important here. Rather it's time to post Big Blues:

Apparently they're shipping my Zelda G&W and SMTV together and should arrive tomorrow. Originally, they were both delayed til the 16th.

Did the same this year. I have no reason to buy carts or discs anymore. I do buy Amiibo still though :sneaky:

Anyone got Knights of the old Republic?

Not played it before. Is it reasonably playable?

Are you saying they've done the "on vehicle for delivery for multiple days" thing and your packages did eventually show up? Because that would be a comfort.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say that on Switch I primarily go physical. The carts are small enough to carry around, especially since I also bring around my charger. I also like the cases and the feel of collecting the physical media. But more importantly, and more specifically for Switch, the games are still run from the cart, not downloaded onto the system like with PlayStation and Xbox. This saves a lot of room for digital only games - I'm still halfway through my 400 GB card, and only two of my games - Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which I only got digitally because my physical preorder was delayed, and Captain Toad, which I own physically on Wii U, started as retail titles.

I'm feeling the struggle with Pokemon BDSP. The initial patch is 3 GB and substantially finishes the game's content, defeating the purpose of the cart, but all my other Pokemon games are physical, and I still feel the urge to have the cart and box for the collection. A first world problem, far from the worst problem to have, but it's something I think about.
