There is no way to tell, a lot of cap being thrown around with no real arguments, could be an inspect element or not, but all the apprentice forensics officers in the thread are quite funny

You basically want to be looking for any inconsistencies in the image, anything that stands out. I'll admit that there's less in the image posted to 4chan than the one posted here.
 
I swear to God, I dreamed about the Switch 2 last night. I'm having tremendous deja-vu with this recent "leak".

This thread... It's driving me... insane...

Putting this through https://fotoforensics.com/ does reveal some odd consistencies, couple that with the gif posted earlier of the dev portal, I could easily see the "Nintendo Switch" and "NX 2" tabs being photoshopped in. I could be completely wrong, but I really don't believe it.

The weird thing here would be if the lack of lines means Photoshop then the whole upper part of the image above Wii U/3DS is edited

I don't think he's a troll for going around the rumors he finds. As long as he doesn't disrespect anyone, I don't think anything will happen if he reports things he finds.

From my point of view, it at least gets the thread going, entertains, debates about them, and, hey, there's a slim chance that some of them are real.
And as always recommended in this thread, all with a graint of salt.

variance in the patterns shown. they all look similar so it's probably from the website. still isn't difficult to make an extra column and type nx2 with a logo in inspect element. like a 10 minute job from the second your laptop boots up. not reliable info and I really don't think it's worth taking too serious at this point.

I prefer to mention this to be certain: We're talking about a screenshot of a screenshot. Forensics like this are not reliable for that reason, that's why I took the source image earlier.

Exactly it's just a speculation thread, we are not a media claiming news, we are just discussing rumors and seeing what's real or not, but recently everything being shut down without real arguments it's becoming boring

Any new rumor is deemed fake by a little group of people (hello TEAM2024), and the authors are being thrown under a truck for posting about it

It's not fair, it's a speculation thread but they don't want to speculate lol

Looking at it a bit more, the area around "NX2" seems blurrier. Like you can see some square-like borders stretching out. The text for NX2 looks like it's being boxed in and you can still see it, where as the text for the other systems is obscured. If that's proof that this is fake, then there it is.

Edit: Apparently, this is an image of an image, so that kinda muddles it up. Though, it's still strange that the NX2 text is visible compared to the others.

I'm still on the February Reveal Team, releases next Summer. I don't think it matters whether it's real or not, smart people know it's a switch sucessor, and it will come when it's ready.

There has been recruitment in Kyoto, and now gossip in Spain, and all it really means is it's time to transition into Nintendos next phase. I'd honestly like to believe Nintendo from their meetings that another console just won't be in time for this fiscal year, as they are figuring out how to work switch libraries onto the next hardware interation, while also making sure they have a working device that's repairable.

I just don't believe they are quite there yet with a new console, I like it when the game schedule is quiet to release a new console. Releasing it this fall just doesn't seem right.

There's a difference between speculation and discussing obvious fakes from 4chan or images with zero context and zero credible backing.

We can and should have some standards about the things we speculate about.

I'm still 50/50 on this "NX 2" thing.
But now that I think about it, it kinda makes sense.

I do believe devkits are in the wild.
It would make sense to support those devkits with updates through the dev portal.
Only accounts of partners with devkits would have access to the "NX 2" section.

I don't think it means anything is imminent.

I'm #TeamLate24.
Not that I don't believe it could come out sooner, but the people I follow, Nate being one of them, are a lot more knowledgeable than I am and are pretty much aligned, minus a few months, and they usually are pretty spot on.

I so hope it's coming this year.

They don't want to reveal the new controllers to developers so that would make sense since they are developping the games with Switch 1 Joy Cons/Pro Controllers

That's the other oddity here. Surely, there would be something there to distinguish it from Switch 1, right? Perhaps the Joycons themselves will look the same, but still.

It makes sense.

The Spanish devs alegedly got a devkit without the native controllers. They're using the Pro Controller because it seems Nintendo don't want the controllers to leak in any way.

If they don't trust NG partners with some info, they won't post it on the dev portal.

"NX 2" is just the code name and the icon is just the same as the Switch's.
It will be updated once the system is announced.

For every accurate 4chan leak there are about 50,000 fake ones. That means that the chances any are real are astronomically low, they are not worth discussing.

Don't play the "point of view" game, nobody is telling you what to believe. But there are some things that just aren't worth bringing into this thread simply because of the confusion and chaos they can cause.

There is tons of extremely insightful and interesting content within this thread but when nonsense like this starts popping up all the time it makes it a lot harder to find the better posts, and gives the thread an undeserved negative reputation.

There has been zero reason to assume it was real, it was posted to 4chan with no context.

A rumor has to provide something to suggest it's credible, a simple screenshot of something anyone can whip up in MS Paint in 5 minutes has no credible backing whatsoever without any other context.

Oh, I wasn't aware of this :unsure: Where does this info come from, if you don't mind me asking? Is it just from the same "Dev kit arrived on Spain which people then assumed to be Mercury Steam" and I missed this bit, or is it from some other further update?

It could have been here or on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours.
The source is the same.

The tweet had some basic info and some podcast they made had some extra breadcrums.
