Honestly I have not liked a single partner showcase yet. Old ports don't really impact me much, and I have tried to get into Monster Hunter but just not for me. It may be unpopular to say but I play Nintendo consoles mostly for Nintendo games. Maybe one day that will change if Nintendo can get games day and date with the other consoles.
There's chance that NoA and NoE treat Level-5 slate as first party games this fall. They did the exact same thing for 3DS and they were pretty good sellers. Level-5 has 4 games to launch this fall, one of them being exclusive but since more than 90% of them will sell on Switch, Nintendo might not care about exclusivity.

Still I expect at least one Mario spinoff (not a mainline game) and Fire Emblem to be fall titles this year.

Slowly coming round to the idea that there might be a partner direct next week but I'm confident we're not seeing a general until August. Nor are we getting any first party announcements until August that aren't Gamecube remasters.

There's no way in hell they're releasing a second Fire Emblem in 2023. They might announce the FE4 remake this fall, but it'll be a 2024 release.

I wouldn't seek logic in Nintendo's release schedules. They recently released 3 Kirby games within a year.

Why would Nintendo have such a bad holiday?

I mean, I feel like Nintendo does get a fair amount of 3rd party games released day and date, they just tend to be indies and AA budget games rather than "big boy console" AAA games. The Switch gets some 3P exclusives (and timed exclusives/console exclusives) too, of course.
Looking at the above list, I think that is just what nails it for me. My own expectations are to see at the very least some kind of AAA games so if even Nintendo can't provide that...what are we here for? Don't get me wrong I love my indies and AA games too, but just...a dinner of some small sides without the main course is not exactly a meal to look back fondly at.

Of the above, I've purchased three games. Dire may be a little hyperbolic but it sure felt that way at the time, and I'll certainly be groaning loudly if I ever have to read the worst pairing of words since "unprecedented partnership".

Level 5 has fell off in recent years and I don't think half of the games slated for this fall will come out this year. I definitely wouldn't trust them to carry H2.

Why would Nintendo have such a bad holiday?
Mario Party Superstars 2/Mario Sluggers + Fire Emblem 4 remake + Pokémon Mystery Dungeon SV + Level-5 games, I don't know that sounds like an excellent holiday to me.
It would be utterly dumb to release FE4 this fall and marketing wise it does not make sense. That's an early 2024 title.
That fire has the most smoke on it. I'd say another Kirby game as a fall filler but since Vanpool is gone there are not much to fill the gaps. Maybe another Wii remaster? A Mario game is a lock, for that I'm sure.

I'll continue to refuse to believe F-Zero is a thing. I need to hear it from someone other than NateDrake.

wait what why?
Of all the rumoured games, FE4 Remake is the only one I'd buy. If they don't have anything going on for the rest of the year, I think it would make sense to launch it (and any other remakes or remasters) this holiday. Reminds me of how Wii U and 3DS burned through remakes and rereleases towards the end.

I don't see anything releasing this fall beyond F-Zero GX and the new Kirby game. There'll be plenty of DLC, don't get me wrong on that, but nothing can overshadow Kirby.
How would there be an all-new Kirby game? We just got a full sized remake with nearly a Star Allies sized epilogue attached fo it this year, and Kirby's biggest game ever last year.

I don't see how they could fit it in the schedule, nor why they would release it this year unless they're hoping it carries the holidays alone.

Not to dismiss the idea as absurd! But the amount of certainty people have about it strikes me as odd.

Vanpool is gone, there won't be any more bite sized Kirby games. HAL is most likely working on the next step of the Kirby's 3D adventures.

And we still have any solid evidence of F-Zero existing. It's not talked about like Metroid Prime or Zelda remasters were last year.

And the new 2D Mario ISN'T?
The difference is pretty crucial: me and others predict 2D Mario sincerely, as a plausible game based on recruitment calls, EPD staff distribution, and Nintendo's repeated release schedules over the Switch's life (major sellers in the holiday season, Mario franchise title every October).

The 'new Kirby game' has nothing supporting it and I don't think it's a prediction made in good faith; not least because the same user posted about it yesterday and described it as "long rumoured" (or something similar) with nothing to back up what they're saying.

Although the FE4 remake is probably more likely for 2024 (maybe even released day and date with a Switch 2 version 👀 ) I do actuallty think it's possible it gets released this year if we get a June general Direct. I mean, why release Engage in January and speedrun the release of the DLC waves if there wasn't something else coming out this year? Or maybe they're planning on announcing the game at a June Direct but it'll still release in early 2024 anyway idk. In that case, it'll at least be fun to witness the battle of the JRPG remakes: FE4R, P3R, and FF7R Rebirth lol.

wait what why?
Given how their marketing goes for their new games (4-6 month windows), unless they announce it like at this time (summer), I cant see it coming this year. Plus we already had engage (regardless of the games legs), the only weird ones to release 2 games of the same franchise is the pokemon company.

But who knows, we are in uncharted territory ;)

Well look, if there's no new Kirby game within the next couple of years, on my head be it.

That makes me think that the next nintendo direct will more likely be a partners due to Zippo's poor track record.
Chat of a Direct next week has popped up on Reddit, so it was only a matter of time before Zippo said something.

Plus, our Brazilian journalist friend Felipe said they'd heard of a June Direct last week. Nate voted for a June Direct a little earlier than that. Smoke's there, but people are convinced it isn't because they're concerned about The Dringest Timeline.

I don't know people were putting so much stock into Gamescom. Nintendo just uses that even mostly as an in-person advertisement, just like most conventions. They've brought evergreen or released titles there in the past and even when they had upcoming games scheduled, they sometimes didn't even have booths for those games at Gamecom.

Yes, but this was in years there was an E3. There isn't one now. So the idea they go to Gamescom then with something else would make sense :)

It’s quite funny how all the fake insiders are quiet as a mouse for the longest time. But if Nate came out and said Earthbound was being remade, you’d get a slew of fakeos coming out “knowing” things.

I have no doubt that Zippo does hear legitimate things. The issue is that he also hears fake and false things and reports both. So there's no point in looking to him for any credible information because it's just as reliable as any other thing you read on the internet.

Nate puts a poll out with the Nintendo direct as an option.

Fake insider finally comes out and says he heard a direct is coming. Makes sure to cover his bases by saying it could be a mini or general.

yawnssss

He also suddenly hears things when others mention them. Nice coincidence that is, really nice coincidence.

I don’t wanna hear about any rumblings of a Nintendo Direct.

Now, if they were HD Rumblings I’d be interested

It's not my rumour? I'm just repeating what I've read on here. But apparently if I went around saying '2D Mario this winter' then that's ok, apparently, because of 'reasons'.
oh my god. You said that it was from "ages back" when Grubb was talking about a July Direct. Nobody recalls this. There is no reporting on it. So nobody is going to believe you unless you provide proof.

I don't know why you are pretending to not understand the issue at hand.

Poor track record is underselling it, Zippo is just not trustworthy at all
