But apparently if I went around saying '2D Mario/F-Zero GX this winter' then that's ok, apparently, because of 'reasons'.

Uh no. This is a false equivalence.

If you're sharing information that's being discussed somewhere or whatever, then great. If there's a hiring call, or report or whatever that points to it, then share it! People like to discuss that stuff. F Zero is rumoured, yes, and some people believe that; people have discussed and shared the source for the rumours and are free to believe or disbelieve it.

2D Mario isn't something that's rumoured, as far as I know. I'm making a guess based on several things that it's a likely game this year. Other people also seem to think it's likely this year, whether that's because Nintendo were hiring for it years ago, or because Nintendo lack a Pokemon RPG this year, or because of Nintendo's repeated launch of Mario titles every October on Switch, or because EPD staff with Mario experience haven't worked on any titles for a while, or (in my case) a combination of those factors.

You're referring to something that only you seem to have knowledge of, without being able to say where it came from, whereas the other topics are more commonly talked about and have a history behind them that users can follow.

It's that Kirby will be the big game between Pikmin 4 and next spring, which I'm guessing means the November slot.

Although the FE4 remake is probably more likely for 2024 (maybe even released day and date with a Switch 2 version ) I do actuallty think it's possible it gets released this year if we get a June general Direct. I mean, why release Engage in January and speedrun the release of the DLC waves if there wasn't something else coming out this year? Or maybe they're planning on announcing the game at a June Direct but it'll still release in early 2024 anyway idk. In that case, it'll at least be fun to witness the battle of the JRPG remakes: FE4R, P3R, and FF7R Rebirth lol.

At the risk of sounding slightly pessimistic, if we don't see a Nintendo Direct announcement by next week, I think it's safe to assume Nintendo will be filing for bankruptcy, shutting down all online eshop services, closing its doors, and we will never see another Mario or Zelda game again

I was team July and changed to team June due the massive campaign here. I think it was a mistake, now I'm in the same team than Zippo.

In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind this at all given the knowledge that the successor is on the horizon. After 2015 and 2016, when Wii U was largely dead and Nintendo internally re-focussed their efforts on Switch; I would much rather have a year of remakes, remasters, and DLC to close out the Switch’s life than another barren ”transition” year like 2016 for Wii U.

We have not had that many mini's in the past, but if it is a Mini that would probably not have any big New titles to announce. Mario sports/spin offs, remasters, and other smaller titles are what I expect. General Direct are where the big boys are shown.

Meh, I still think Prime 4 and/or a new Mario (whether that be a spinoff or a new mainline 2d game) could happen in the second half of this year. And even if it's "just" a remake, FE4R would be a pretty big deal imo and obviously of a much larger scale than some Gamecube remasters.

Nintendo aren't going to waste perfectly good Fire Emblem and Zelda re-releases during the first holiday season that the latest new FE and Zelda titles are on sale; much more likely in 2024.

Not sure about the second half of the calendar year, but I definitely suspect the remainder of the fiscal year will lean on re-releases. I could see stuff like a potential Paper Mario re-release holding the fort after Christmas. There's also whatever remaster Bandai-Namco are working on for Nintendo (no gang, it is not Baten Kaitos).

Okay, so all the stuff that's been going around in Nintendo Rumour Land lately is listed in Zippo's post and of course, the whole Direct thing. The thing is, it's all stuff we know already that have been going around the rumour mill for about a year at this point. He's not giving us new information. We know a Direct's in June, all the games he's mentioned are things we already know Nintendo is working on, so he's not telling us anything we don't already know.

So, uhhhhh.... Yeah.... Stuff. I have no doubt the stuff he knows is legit because it's stuff that other insiders have talked about, but Zippo himself isn't so much a "news source" as he is "the guy you can get info on what rumours are already circulating from". That's how I see him anyway.
