Dog, you’re calling those people weirdos while on a forum dedicated to people trying to figure out when a Nintendo Direct will happen, down to the very second, and having meltdowns if it doesn’t come true.
I think he was clear that he just doesn't want to hear us

reading us is fine

Tears of the Kingdom is going to single-handedly revive malls. The masses will flock to try out the better sequel to the greatest game of all time. Statues of Link will be placed outside of Macy's, JC Penny, and Sears to commemorate their savior.

Their big holiday game is, probably, a mix of “please keep buying Zelda” and “Pokémon DLC”
how dare you forget Mario Kart 8 DLC?!

In all seriousness don't be surprised if Zelda and Pikmin 4 get DLC for the end of the year too.

OK here’s my question for the thread:

If Nintendo partnered with a company like Fathom Events to show Nintendo Directs in theatres, would you want to watch a Direct in a theatre surrounded by other Nintendo fans? Let’s assume tickets are free.

Hell no.

Horse game was announced almost 2 weeks ago, and releasing in 2 weeks. They have yet to show off anything of this game. While that’s probably for the best, they are going through with selling it and their best bet is to make a trailer trying to make it look as good as possible (before people start actually playing). I wonder what they could be waiting for to finally show a trailer….

In all honesty I treat the mall tour announcement like that Nintendo Live one. I don't think we need to go crazy over it. As much as I think Nintendo will show up with a bunch of already released games at gamescom, I don't think the mall tour shows their cards in that respect. But yeah, I thought if it was Team June then Lukas would be dead on with his guess for the date.

please, no more single player DLC...

let Pikmin 4 be complete at launch...
Listen, I don't really care for DLC all the time but I only say it is coming because Pikmin 3 got DLC and Nintendo is really loving their DLC lmao.

I reckon we'll get a Mario Kart 8 DLC direct on the 22nd, which will show all of the courses between now and the final course wave. We'll get a Pikmin Direct next month, and news on Kirby, F-Zero and TOTK DLC will be in the mini direct on September 28, and that'll carry us to the end of next spring, I think.

I see this a lot and it’s not just you, what information do people think there still is on Pikmin to fill a whole direct. Other than playing and spoiling the whole game?

Also, with the fact that Nintendo essentially squeezed in Metroid Remaster, 1-2 Switch, and two story DLCs (Fire Emblem and Xenoblade) in the first half of the year, I can not imagine it was to make room for a Kirby and FZero Remaster as their holiday….

I mean it doesn't have to be long? It could be a 10 min micro-demonstration like they did with TOTK. Either way, that'll be the big showing in July.

As for the big holiday game? Well we got a Musou Zelda game as the big holiday game in 2020, and Metroid Dread in 2021. Kirby is on that level, for sure.

Wait why wouldn't you have to renegotiate the character rights?
Releasing a new game, you'd have to, but generally the existing agreements allow for updates (they pretty much have to.)

This is how Smash Bros. Ultimate could be updated at all, while a game like Forza Horizon 4 is extremely licence heavy, released in 2018, and had a next gen update that didn't remove a single car, livery or ad.

Unless they botched the contracts and allowed clauses like "Only for Nintendo Switch Systems, as defined as systems using Nvidia Tegra X1 sold by Nintendo", much like Microsoft... Didn't, it's unlikely an update would require renegotiation, and if it does, far, far less than trying to do it for every character for a whole new game on a new system.

I wouldn't be surprised if there will be no trailer. They will be preying on casual families walking into stores, seeing a stupid horse man on the box art and impulse buying it. If they were to show a trailer, they would have shown it on reveal.

The assumption that DLC automatically means cut content needed to stop yesterday. It feels like disguised Lazy Dev talk. Most DLC aren't cut content, and you can usually tell what is. Like a lot of the Animal Crossing New Horizons updates were clearly cut content, but Happy Home Paradise would have never been in the base game. The Booster Course Pass came five years after the Deluxe version if MK8 launched. The Outer Wilds expansion introduced a whole new planet and set of unique mechanics. The Immortals Fenyx Rising DLC had a freaking top down story mode. A lot of DLC packs are stuff that was thought of after the game released or stuff that wouldn't fit in the game itself.

I missed a couple pages, but I saw a rumor on Reddit that the direct will be announced next week. Not sure how credible it is.

Lines up with what has been discussed here already.

I like how everyone still considers a Partner Showcase as the ultimate failure as if the Partner Showcase last year wasn't widely considered better than the September Direct.
They are just dissapointing because it means another few months without first party games. Also, as much as I love kirby. I think I need a bit of a kirby break. So I’d be dissapointed if that was touted as a big holiday game

Horse game is getting the TotK treatment. Everyone is doubting it, wondering where's the marketing, etc. Watch them drop a huge trailer next week that shows off story and gameplay and then it casually clears 5 million in week 1. They're holding off on showing stuff because they want people to discover it for themselves in the game, but if you've seen the art book leaks then you know to be excited since there's an underground map with a whole society of horse people, as well as a lot of lore that will impact the official 1-2 Switch timeline for sure.

There are also people casually browsing eshop, and if I’m not mistaken it would be the only Nintendo title with no trailer to view in the eshop. I agree it wouldn’t be that surprising if they never mention it again, but if they are going to sell it and try to recoup money their best bet it to make the game look good in a trailer

...I didn't consider it better!

I'm still deleting my account if it happens.

Some want first party games that’s why and nothing is dated after July 21 from Nintendo.

I am so ready for the chaos if next week we get a trailer for Everybody 1-2-Switch on twitter instead of a Direct announcement.

Game show time for the thread as a whole:

the difference is that last year had Nintendo games while this year has nothing after Pikmin

Honestly I have not liked a single partner showcase yet. Old ports don't really impact me much, and I have tried to get into Monster Hunter but just not for me. It may be unpopular to say but I play Nintendo consoles mostly for Nintendo games. Maybe one day that will change if Nintendo can get games day and date with the other consoles.

yeahing because I feel you on Nintendo games but not because I agree

as a presentation, as in something I had to sit down and watch for half an hour, the Partner Showcase was the best we got last year

I can agree with that! The pacing of the show was great and there were surprises. It just didn't have a single game for me lol.

Purchase the Pikmin 4: Season 1 Battle Pass to get access to exclusive cosmetics, Pikmin points, and banners. At Level 100, you'll unlock the Minish Pikmin, inspired by The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, for use on your adventures!

I definitely wouldn’t say weirdos, but people on a message board is very different from seeing people in real life.
I feel like my post was misinterpreted. It’s fine to not want to be around people for stuff like what they do at the Nintendo store, I wouldn’t want to either. I do find issue with it being deemed “strange” or “weird” that these people do go and do these things. They’re just as passionate about Nintendo as the people on this forum are, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some people that go to the Nintendo store for those shows happen to be members of this website, so the insult to them just seems unwarranted to me.

I mean, I feel like Nintendo does get a fair amount of 3rd party games released day and date, they just tend to be indies and AA budget games rather than "big boy console" AAA games. The Switch gets some 3P exclusives (and timed exclusives/console exclusives) too, of course.

Well, if it is a Partner Showcase, what would be the next miracle port? Like, come on, every June Direct has some insane port that should not run on Switch, but does somehow.

not only that...people go to them for the same reason we are here. Sense of community. Like that's not hard to understand.
