On my deathbed

Instead of flashbacks of my life, I can see a highlight reel of Nintendo direct footage as I prepare to close my eyes for the final time

There's a clicking sound and someone appears in front of me

I expire
"Nintendo Direct 'one more thing' Hell reveal trailer live reaction! šŸ˜µ [REAL]"

[A Pokemon Presents confirms Detective Pikachu for October 20th, 2023, a new Mystery Dungeon title for January 2024, and details the DLC]

Nintendo Direct: June 2023

We open with... Splatoon 3 Side Order, launching this August. Looks rad, obviously.

Yoshiaki Koizumi hopes we liked that. It's as close to new 3D Mario as we're getting this year.

First batch of headlines (what would even be here? Weeb shit? Just Dance? Indies that aren't Silksong, resulting in "Where's Silksong?")

New first party title reveal: Rhythm Heaven is back - and harder than ever! Rhythm Hell launches on Nintendo Switch this December.

Yoshiaki Koizumi passes us over to Shigeru Miyamoto, who begins by reminding us all to buy Pikmin 4. He lets us know a Pikmin 4 Direct will be available to watch shortly after this presentation, but first, he'd like to talk about Super Mario. He thanks everybody who made the Super Mario movie such a success, and knows we'd all like to see what's next for Nintendo's mascot. Please take a look at this:

  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Age of the Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkeys launches on Nintendo Switch, October 6th 2023
  • Dr Mario 99 will be available for NSO subscribers on Nintendo Switch... later today!
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Super Mario Land, and Mario Paint (somehow) will all join NSO... later today!
  • Mario Kart 8 DX Booster Course Pass Wave 5 launches... in July!

Miyamoto thanks us for watching, and says one of those general things about how everyone at Nintendo is working very hard and they all know we like Mario, or whatever. He says he has one more thing to show us:

- New Super Mario Land. It's got 'New' in the title, but it's not 'New' in aesthetic, music, or world themes; it's new and wacky, taking its cue from the unconventional settings of the GB games. Hand-drawn visual style. Launches on Nintendo Switch November 17th, 2023.

- Thanks Miyamoto-san; more headlines, including the sneaky return of F ZERO: F ZERO GX HD, which launches September 1st, 2023.

- 51 Worldwide Classics/51 Clubhouse Games is getting a sequel: 51 Classical Era Games. Play classic games like Ancient Egyptian Senet, the Royal Game of Ur, Nine Men's Morris, Tafl, and Patolli. This is the most expensive game NdCube have ever made, requiring research arrangements with dozens of universities around the world so that Nintendo and NdCube could figure out how the hell the games of the ancient world were actually played. In the end, they made up the rulesets. 51 Classical Era Games launches November 3rd, 2023.

- more headlines, including games people like.

Surprise Eiji Aonuma! He has a few things to share with us, including:
- Ganondorf and Zelda amiibo available at some point in the future
- Tears of the Kingdom DLC:
Wave 1 launches this September and includes Master Mode, which features reworked temples, extra Master level shrines, gold enemies, and some new enemy types: Aeralfos and Armos Constructs join the fray. There'll also be some new overworld bosses: we see Manhandla and Aquamentus. Master Mode also introduces the new Tingle Tuner, which turns the game into a survival horror. The louder the Tuner sounds, the closer Tingle is...
Wave 2, Ballad of Awakening, is teased, with Kass narrating from an archipelago high above the southern seas of Hyrule. The mists clear, and we see... a giant egg on a mountain in the sky?! Wave 2 gets a generic spring 2024 date.

Aonuma thanks us for our patience. He has one more thing he'd like us to see:
- It's 2D-HD! It's turn-based! It's strategy! It's... Triforce Strategy?! Team Asano and Team Aonuma are collaborating on this Triangle Strategy-inspired Zelda spin off. Balance the Scales of the Goddess, choosing between Wisdom, Power, and Courage as you recruit characters to save the kingdom from civil war. Triforce Strategy launches in 2024.

- Whew! Koizumi is knackered, and thanks us all for watching. Before we go, here's one more thing:

Metroid Prime 4's first proper trailer closes out the presentation! And confirms a launch date of March 22nd, 2024. That's all, folks.

Starting with Splatoon dlc as the opening? Oof

Are we gonna do the Triangle Strategy update means no Direct this week because wouldnā€™t it be in there? Or are we happy that, like Everybody 1-2 Switch, isnā€™t a very Direct-type deal (Especially if they have another HD2D game brewing)?
No way they were ever going to show a free update for a third party game in a direct. Besides there wasn't even a trailer on YouTube for it.

Since we're all bored and looking for ways to avoid playing our games, let's talk about the last one or two announcements that you want to see that would "complete" the Switch library for you personally. We've seen 3D Mario, 3D Zeldas, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, return of 2D Metroid, even Pokemon Snap. But what's left? Obviously Nintendo isn't going to bring every single one of their franchises to the system with a new entry but what are your one or two unannounced games that you think are missing from the Switch Library.

For me personally, it's

-Brand new, original 2D Zelda
-A revival of an old Nintendo IP but with a take on it (Think Kid Icarus: Uprising)

2D Zelda goes without saying. I love the 3D games but it's always nice to a more compact Zelda experience which the 2D games have provided. It's been nearly 10 years since A Link Between Worlds and I would like to see another original 2D game soon. As for the old Nintendo IP revival, I just think it's cool when an old franchise is brought back in a fresh way. I really didn't enjoy the original Kid Icarus games but Uprising was a lot of fun and I thought it was a good to bring back those characters and world.
For me it's a Mario & Luigi game (i'd be satisfied with a remake or a original game), a Tomodachi game and a Pokemon game set in Johto/Unova. If we got those three, then the Switch library would be perfect in my opinion.

Alright people, today is important. I don't think a direct will be this week nor an announcement.

However, the stupid 48 hours embargo marketing deal from Xbox with developers such as Atlus should expire today.

In other words, other platforms will be announced for multiple games that were shown off during the Xbox Showcase such as PR3 Reload and P5T.

If Switch is not announced among the other platforms, good chance that they will be getting announced in a Direct. Obviously it's not guaranteed they're coming to Switch but it's a good chance especially since this is exactly the same case scenario last year with P3-5.

Who do I have to pay to make this part real?

Certainly interesting to me 3D Mario is literally out of everyone's predictions when it's been so long since the last one. I want to believe EPD Tokyo is not going to wait until late 2024 to deliver a new one. 6 years is already pushing it, 7 is too much.

Triforce Strategy and 51 Classical Era Games are my joke predictions and now I desperately want both games.

I think IS might be pissed if Nintendo did this with Zelda, so let's make a compromise:

Hyrule Emblem, developed by IS and Team Asano.

Honestly this is the time we get the weird and wild stuff. Random revivals and bizarre spin-offs mixed with a few long gestating original ideas. Which would be awesome and a perfect round off. Wii didnā€™t get it cause it was sacrificed near the end for HD teething and Wii-uā€™s absolute crash meant it was cut off to save for the next thing while ironing things out. Normally Nintendo doesnā€™t drop off, it goes till a year into the next console, especially if thereā€™s BC. Plus all the studios are unified now, no handheld 2D refuge/split
On that vein then, Iā€™d love to see Mario & Luigi (maybe a remake since Iā€™ve never actually played any of those games before), a Mario Musou (although given the Warriors seriesā€™s technical performance on Switch, Koei Tecmo may be better off waiting to develop it for the succ), and a sequel to Mario Sports Mix (can you tell I like Mario?)
Mario Party 11
Yes, we're doing this. Restarting the series right where we left off in 2015, Mario Party 11 will probably actually take after Super Mario Party or even Superstars. Incidentally, the latter's baffling exclusion of the former in its gallery makes me believe a new game will be numbered 11. September 8, 2023
This is a fairly pointless aside, but I feel like Super Mario Party is a soft reboot of sorts for the series, and the next main installment would be called Super Mario Party 2, still taking after its immediate predecessors.

Itā€™s because 3D Mario never comes out this late in a consoleā€™s lifespan. In fact, with the exception of direct sequels (i.e. Galaxy 2) and Bowserā€™s Fury, 3D Marios have always released within the first year of a consoleā€™s life.

Oh man. Ever since Cadence of Hyrule I've wanted to see a Zelda strategy game, even though I'd have preferred an RTS back then, this would still be a dream come true. And now I'm sad because it probably will never happen :(

A little longer than a hour away from the usual time of announcements, huh?

Well, i don't think Nintendo is going to announce a Direct this week. I think one of these three scenarios will play out:

1. Pokemon releases a trailer for the Scarlet/Violet DLC or announces a Pokemon Presents presentation for later this week
2. Nintendo tweets about a game coming to the Switch that was revealed in one of the not E3 presentations (like Prince of Persia or Sonic Superstars)
3. Absolutely nothing happens! That's a possibility too.

And these three scenarios are relevant for the rest of the week, in my opinion. I think the Direct will be announced (and happen) next week.

I'd also just like to say that if any of these three scenarios happens today or this week, it won't lower the chances of a Nintendo Direct this month, so don't worry about that :).

Itā€™s quite funny how all the fake insiders are quiet as a mouse for the longest time. But if Nate came out and said Earthbound was being remade, youā€™d get a slew of fakeos coming out ā€œknowingā€ things.

I'm waiting for my twitter insider
NintendoAmerica to give me the scoops for the next Nintendo direct.
When he finally tweets the date of the direct I'll let everyone here know. He's pretty reliable.

Nintendo about to announce next week's N64 game for NSO, leading to mass panic localised mostly within this thread.
