Yeah lol. I wonder if any of the companies will switch games.
Almost certainly right?

I know people like to clown on Geoff here but I think skipping SGF is a miss at this point. Sure, it's not a replacement for E3, but when just about everybody else is involved in some capacity (except Konami lol, thanks @Barely Able) it just feels like a wasted opportunity

Yeah. Plus they are doing that in person thing this year (maybe they did it before?). Not sure the size so light not be equivalent, but could leverage this. Say what you want about Geoff and his hype machine, but he does bring eyeballs and is the perfect vehicle for an eventual E3 replacement.

Just in time for TotK tomorrow I managed to (mostly) finish up my main menu and character creator.

This thing is really coming together, it should be playable from start to finish within a couple months.

We know have the partners for SGF.

That's like... everyone except Nintendo lol
It makes less sense to me since we know Nintendo abstained from e3 before it died, but Kit and Krysta believe Nintendo feels more loyal to the ESA then most companies (despite being the first to skip a conference lmao but tbf I can see it being the case none the less)

As for being an E3 replacement I mean I'm noticing a big lack of indies unless publishers count, but like I for some reason in my head felt like we might see Playtonic's next project here and like nope, I think that's higher profile then like the weird wave surfing game with Weezer music from the 21 show but

Also unsure what Xbox and Sony mean since one has a showcase confirmed and one has a showcase rumoured, are they under the SGF banner or is more lowkey stuff at SGF as well?

Also I've heard it's less open to less big journalists then E3 was, both games and journalists wise this feels more top heavy, E3 was never some equal paradise for that but it was better for the smaller folks from what I've read

But the bigger issue is just will they have showcases, I mean Sony Xbox will but under SGF I mean, cause being all under 1 umbrella ala TGA isn't what E3 is

If you are registered as a employee in Brazil, you'd have 30 days for every 12 months of work (unless if you're self-employed, non registered in your job or one of the many ways companies use here to hire people without having to give them their rights)
How often do people take their entire 30 days at once though?

It will depend a lot on the place and line of work and what is easier, also you can't take one day here and there all the time.
The first part of the days you take can't be less than 14 days, and the other ones can't last less than 5 consecutive days.
In the place I work only managerial positions fractionate their vacations (for lack of replacements) but most employees use 30 days at once.

As I just mentioned in the Zelda Party thread, I have completed Wind Waker. That means two things. One, I have completed my Wii-U backlog. And two, I have completed every 3D console Zelda game.

With the Wii-U, I have honestly enjoyed my time with the console. Yes, the system was lacking depth but a lot of the games that did hit, hit really good. Nintendoland was a fun pack-in, even if the heights of Wii Sports weren't hit. Super Mario 3D World was a blast (screw you Champion's Road!). Tropical Freeze was the best Donkey Kong game in almost 20 years. Splatoon is one of my favorite IP's of the last ten years. Bayonetta came back from the dead. NES Remix was a great surprise. We saw two gamecube classic Zelda games brought to HD, and it was the first time I played through both of them. Despite a couple of issues I had with Color Splash, it was a fun game to play. NSMBU/LU were both excellent games. The best Mario Kart game was born on the Wii-U, and the foundation for Smash Ultimate started here. Pikmin woke up from a decade long sleep. Yoshi's Woolly World was so cute. Rayman Legends was the best 3rd party game on the system. Captain Toad was just straight up awesome. Super Mario Maker gave us the tools to create our own adventures. The birth of the Nintendo Warriors franchise happened. And oh yea, Breath of The Wild was a pretty big deal

Now that doesn't mean it was all sunshine and roses. There were plenty of duds. Mario Party 10 had little excitement. Mario Tennis was barebones. Party Festival was not the Animal Crossing game we were hoping for. I know Xenoblade Chronicles X had its fans, but that game did nothing for me. 3rd party support was next to nothing after the first year. We won't talk about that Star Fox Entry.

Will the Wii-U be remembered as a great console? No. It had many short comings. But the library had some amazing gems and the Switch was a better console because of the Wii-U.

As for Zelda, I am glad to have caught up in the console games. I still need to play through pretty much all of the handheld games (I've beaten Link's Awakening and A Link Between Worlds). Hopefully I start tackling more of them by the end of the year.

Sure Zelda is all the rave now.
But where is the true king of sequels that we are all craving for? Where is that beautiful sweat? Where are those massive thighs? Where are the FEET.
I really want to have Ring Fit 2.

You ever get that e-mail at work that leaves you going "yeah, I need a new job, this isn't working anymore"

Just got it

On Zelda weekend at that

Fuck me

Playing through FE: Engage. Playing through Rune Factory 5. I wear my Sobble shirt today and I find myself going "I could really go for another run through Pokemon Sword..." despite having done so to start the year.

Nintendo held back 3D Mario because they wanted it to launch after Tears of the Kingdom so Koizumi and friends could go on a GOTY victory lap of their own.

New 3D Mario 2024 confirmed.

It's starting to feel like it's not real. Like it isn't happening. Like I'm waking up tomorrow and I'm still waiting for E3.

Maybe I'm just over-tired, staying up until midnight after a rough day at work.

1 hour left of work for me and I can’t focus on anything except playing Zelda tonight. Took this weekend off too.

Sympathy Yahaha!, I'm sorry pal
I've been mentally checked out of this job for the past half year or so anyway, I knew this day would come but it's still annoying. Doesn't help that I'm juggling a lot of personal shit and was really hoping this weekend would just be a nice way to escape.

Oh well. I'll figure it out somehow.

Odyssey should have won 2017 imma say it

But I also don't care much in that case, it just feels like GOTY is too limiting when Nintendo only wins with these open world games that are openly inspired by Western games, BOTW feels less "nintendo" then something like Odyssey and I feel that there is some bias, not against Nintendo specifically so much as that type of game. I feel the same about Elden Ring winning like yes its a Japanese game but (even more so then BOTW in fact far more then BOTW) it feels its win is in spite of that. I suppose It Takes Two winning is different from the standard but I do feel the types of games that get GOTY represent a self enforced limitation on what is allowed to be GOTY.

Like I somehow feel if BOTW didn't exist or more realistically released in 2016, Horizion would have won, despite Odyssey being the only thing to tie BOTW critic score wise.

I would love a Bummer Games Fest. A collection of games that, regardless of quality, are just massive bummers to play. The headliner is The Last Of Us Part II
The Last of Bus, a brutal and terrifying post-apocalyptic journey though… no wait that’s just night buses in London.

No but for real The Last Of Us Part II might be my favorite game ever but it's a huge fucking bummer
Tbh sometimes media that's a huge fucking bummer is the best stuff. There's plenty of value there.

One of my favourite films is Children of Men. Which is just 2 hours of artistically-immaculate shots of people suffering and dying whilst dad-rock or mournful opera music plays. One of my favourite books is Blood Meridian which is, well, Blood Meridian.

Hey all! I’m not reading anything here today, and I’m dipping out for a while after I send this. I’m afraid of spoilers and want to enjoy the game to the fullest extent! I just wanted to wish everyone here a great time with Tears of the Kingdom. It’s been a long (and at times, painful) wait, but I know it’s going to be worth it.

See you on the other side.

Hey Blizzard? F**k off with this noise.

Keeping up with season and battle passes is a pain, especially since most are time limited. I basically only play the Destiny 2 seasons and mostly because they are cheap at $10 (well soon to be $12). You get more story and loot with each season plus a battle pass but even then, you run out of interesting stuff to do long before you can complete the battle pass so grinding it becomes a slog.

As expected, they're going hard after the Path of Exile crowd.

I also saw they were claiming it take up to 100 hours to get a character to max level which is just 😬 as someone who works a 9 to 5 and has to leave time in the day for activities like cooking, sleeping, and exercise that pretty much was a "nope" from me. And I just can't imagine wanting to spend $25 every quarter for a new task list in Diablo. But then again, I never quite understood the appear of Pindleskin and Baal runs ad nauseum either.

At this stage in my life if I'm going to dedicate 100+ hours to a game it's going to be a single-player RPG (or have a very light and optional multiplayer component like Pokemon) that I can play at my own pace and on my own terms. Or it's a board game. And I'm swimming in plenty of options for either one.

I'm abandoning Metroid Fusion. It's too hard and not in ways I particularly enjoy.
