"Hmm, I need something TOTK, maybe I'll peek my head into the Non-Spoiler Spoiler Thread..."

five seconds later

Annnnnd that's enough, time to bounce

I think I got about as far as the first sentence in the OP before noping the hell out of there and smashing that Ignore Thread button. It will only end in tears otherwise.

i'm a bit skeptical how well that would hold up for a game 4-5x longer like their full games typically are

i'd be up for them trying though
It’s more a personal thing really.

I’m into check lists and getting constant “points” to be used for upgrades. I like seeing numbers go up lol

Though they could've gone a bit easier on the "Takes one step, SCRANNER GOES OVERDRIVE!!!!!" map design. ;D

What I really really appreciate with the Fujibayashi-era of Zelda, something that is super clear in SS, is that his background as someone who once designed attractions for amusement parks really shines through. SS and BotW are such ACTIVE games that places so much focus on manoeuvrability and physical activities.

Like, though much of it is perhaps paddy and at times tedious, you can’t say that SS doesn’t have the ability to keep a beat. There’s almost always challenges and activities thrown your way that are consistently rooted in player action, and feels a bit amusement park-y, in such a cool way.

BotW evolves this further by being a very active game, with so much you can just.. DO. Movement alone gives you climbing, paragliding, riding, shield surfing, sand seal surfing, bullet time shooting, etc. It’s a truly active game that constantly keeps you engaged, again in a way that feels strangely amusement park-y.

Can’t wait to see the evolution of this philosophy in TotK.

yeah I get it i'm the same way, I just think it sounds like one of those things where it's probably like an order of magnitude harder to get the progression right for a ~100 hour game than it is for a ~20 hour one

if they think they can get it to feel right? then by all means I hope they try

Jesus Tapdancing Picklechips, why did nobody tell me there was an incredibly accurate Smash Bros episode in the new season of Animaniacs????

The music, the VS screens, the graphics when they get smash attacked and when they blow up offscreen, Mario stealing Luigi's spotlight, it's all there. There's even a quick shot that mimics Kotabe's art. I'm blown the fuck away.
God I'm actually so glad Animaniacs got a reboot. I'm re-watching the original series now (just finished season 1), but even having only seen the first episode of the new stuff where they riffed Jurassic Park has me excited for when I'm get to see all the new stuff.

I also have a weird theory I'm workshopping over what the Warners actually are: chaotic neutral young demons

I have never drawn the line between Skyward Sword and the eventual Zelda Universal theme park before and you just blew my freakin mind

Once you start seeing:

Dawn of

The _____ Day

=XX Hours Remain=

That's when you know shit's about to get real

Just watched the 4th episode of Oshi No Ko and the OP and ED are amazing. The show is great.

On another note Ocarina of Time 3D Randomizer is fun.

That's when you know shit's about to get real
Well can TotK become real sooner, I need to play it NOW

Just watched the 4th episode of Oshi No Ko
It has been an absolute delight seeing people react to this rollercoaster ride

You gotta do something horrible if people will side with Nintendo over you about something:

MOD EDIT: Link to spoiler-filled Kotaku article removed
Guess since they're already pissed Nintendo off, there's no loss in pissing them off further (even though there is, holy crap why are you talking about leaks again)

At one point, though, Nintendo might be pissed enough to have you get a visit by their lawyers.

Dunno, i wouldn't be keen on getting to know them.

Imao this is literally me. Today I put another TotK thread on ignore as soon as I saw it, it even had "non-spoiler" in the title. Absolutely spoiler bullet-proof in everything. At this point am sure that I have like 5 TotK threads on ignore lol.

We're talking about two massive games. Like ... absolutely massive ones. Even without the DLC episode for Xenoblade 3.
So the question you should ask yourself is wether you have the time to switch between them.
Work time off is approaching so I'll be having around 10 days to myself :D

Please stop putting TOTK spoilers or links to TOTK spoilers in non-TOTK spoiler threads! Have some common sense.

Didn’t they just bring that back from Torna? Guess I’ll find out when I finally start today

In Future Redeemed, you get skill points for doing a whole bunch of stuff. Killing enemies, filling out the Collectopedia, discovering locations, and bringing in new NPCs. These skill points can of course be used to level up...well skills and abilities for each character. So you are very incentivized do explore and do side quests beyond just getting XP.

Why is it that I can remember the type chart for Pokemon off the top of my head, but I constantly need an image open for the Fire Emblem weapon triangle? 😅

Funny thing. I can remember the original type chart (R/B/Y), but I can't for the life of me remember the changes after gen 2.

It's ever since they introduced Fairy type I can't remember the charts like I expected them too. Fairy strong against Dragon, Dark and Fighting (??), but weak to Poison and Steel.

For some reason it's weird to me that Ghost is weak/supereffective to itself, and also weak to Dark. But Dark is weak to Bug? Bug being resistant to fighting while also super effective against both Dark and Psychic and...I feel myself spiraling giving myself a headache lol

for some reason I just always picture an axe straight up hacking a lance in half when I think of that and then it's easy to remember the rest from there
You know, I just figured out a way to remember it. They are color coded red, green, blue, and they just so happen to be in the same order as fire, grass and water are in Pokemon.

I didn’t see much of anything at all, it was just a couple very vague descriptors, but that was enough. I don’t want to see anything else at this point other than I’ll probably check a few reviews. Definitely time to ignore a few threads.

Didn't see this mentioned yet on here and not sure if I'm allowed to whip up a thread for this game so just dropping this trailer here. I love it. Strayed Lights give a little bit of El Shaddai-vibes mixed with maybe Ori when it comes to looks? Very eager to try this!

What the fuck is a steel type weak to?
Fire, Fighting and Ground. Fire can melt steel, earthquakes can topple steel structures, and martial artists are usually depicted in fiction as capable of breaking steel (incidentally, martial artists also commonly break bricks/concrete slabs and ice blocks, which is why Fighting is also strong against Rock and Ice).

Poison weakness?
They're weak to Ground and Psychic. Ground can absorb toxins. Psychic is kind of a stretch, but kinda seems like poison acts as doping for the mind.

Fairy strong against Dragon, Dark and Fighting but weak to Poison and Steel
Yup! Fighting types are technically Hero types in Japanese, who usually fight head-on, making them a poor matchup against mischievous fairies. Fairies are also usually depicted as beings of light, so that's why they're strong against the dark.

Meanwhile Fairy beats Dragon purely because Game Freak decided dragons needed to be nerfed. I personally think of the Chesterton quote: "Fairy tales do not tell children dragons exist. They exist to tell children dragons can be killed."

Poison beats Fairy by the same logic they beat Grass-- pollution destroys nature. Steel beats Fairy because iron is a common weakness of fairies in folklore.

Ghost is weak/supereffective to itself, and also weak to Dark
Ghosts can touch other ghosts, and easily corrupted by evil.

But Dark is weak to Bug?
Dark represents evil, while bug represents heroes (in Japan, bugs are well liked and often form the basis of tokusatsu heroes). And heroes always prevail against villains.

Bug being resistant to fighting while also super effective against both Dark and Psychic
And so by that logic, Bug is resistant to Fighting because some of the strongest enemies a hero can face are other heroes.

Bugs thrive in darkness, and their minds are too alien for espers to affect.

That's about it, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I have recently been caught up on the fact that A) Mondo was bought out by Funko a little under a year ago, and B) because of slipping sales because no one wants to buy those plastic figurines anymore, they slashed the workforce for Mondo that prints posters, records and high quality collectibles that sell out within minutes, and C) this all happened over a month ago in late March.

So, I'm mad.

This is my favourite TED talk I've enjoyed, and I mean that genuinely. I love to learn the lore of the odder type match ups that don't make as much sense on the surface, but especially that bit about why dragon is weak to fairy type makes so much sense now (and also I completely forgot that iron is used as a weapon against fairies).

It also makes more sense about bug type being effective against psychic and dark type users than my headcanon as "bugs are distracting to magic types focusing to cast their spells" lmao

But anyways yeah this is the article I read so you can be angry with me.

9-10 days out from launch and I feel like I’m going into TotK mostly blind and I couldn’t be happier about that 😁

Next week gonna be good

Completing some games in the process, currently going though Project Zero IV. Its pretty good

I've stopped watching any and all Zelda related videos on Youtube. It's not because I don't want to to but because the Youtube algorithm will start recommending spoiler videos and the occasional rant from a random alt-right Youtuber for some reason.

I'm pretty far into Fire Emblem Engage's story (currently Chapter 23) and I feel the complaints and criticism towards the story are way overblown. It's no doubt a little silly and definitely has worse world/character building than Three Houses but it's nowhere near as bad as people make it seem IMO.

I thought it was pretty cool how they undid Alear's death actually. I was expecting the power of friendship to come in and let Veyle summon the 12 rings and that they'd revive Alear as if nothing happened. Instead, we got a pretty cool revival as a Corrupted and then another revival as an Emblem... A little silly but I liked how they just didn't go the easy anime way with it.

It seems like baten kaitos remaster was announced ages ago. I wonder when will it release. I need my monolith fix after beating the dlc to xenoblade 3.

Funny thing. I can remember the original type chart (R/B/Y), but I can't for the life of me remember the changes after gen 2.
I can remember gen 2-5 but I often forget that in gen 6 they made it so Steel doesn't resist Ghost and Dark anymore

Honestly kind of an arbitrary change because of how few Steel/Ghost and Steel/Psychic Pokemon there are, but I guess someone really hated Bronzong lol
