Nintendo should have released Bayonetta Origins in May so I could have made a Mayo Bayo shitpost.

I cant tell you to worry or not, but there are still alot of unknows with games coming second half of the year. I think June/July will be very telling of whats on the horizon for switch support.
Usually by this time, fall lineup start to get clearer, like last years No Man's Sky or Front Mission announcements. We got Level-5 games but no confirmation on release window and L5 is kinda notorious for their multiple delays. All we have other than that are the NISA localizations: Disgaea 7, CRYMACHINA and Legend of Nayuta.

But you're right, if Square and Namco have anything, they'll reveal in June. And there are a lot of rumblings about Square's next slate of JRPG's...

I could also see games getting binned for Switch in favor of having something ready for launch when the next hardware rolls out too
Oh totally. Me speculating here, RE4 Remake has not been announce for switch as cloud game (all new RE games are), so I could see Capcom saying lets wait till the next console.

Yeah last years Direct/Pokemon Present gave a clear picture of the fall, even if some stuff had to be moved. But we randomly got a Bayo 3 release date trailer in June and a partner direct in july that fill some space.

Thinking of SE in particular, some of the games that might be announced or get a date are: DQ Infinity Strash, maybe DQ3 2D-HD.
Namco takes a year sometimes to port stuff so I would not expect something like One Piece Odyssey, I think at most we get a date for Baten Kaitos.

Finished Resident Evil 4 Remake and I have to say, what a kick. I think it's just an ok remake of an extraordinary game, but at the same time when you have such a perfect game you don't really want to touch it and I can understand that (with that said, I liked every single change they made). So it looks more like a kind of definitive edition of a classic and I envy the people who could discover it with this version.

I think that besides all the qualities of the game in terms of rhythm, enemy encounter variety, gameplay, what I like most is to see a game with realistic graphics that is not ashamed of being a video game, that doesn't feel the need to justify and contextualize each of its elements, a game that understands the medium and is not ashamed of having stupid and/or unbelievable elements as long as it respects the videogame grammar.

Also, great use of the DualSense, one of the best so far, not too gimmicky. I know some people don't like speakers in controllers but I really really hope Nintendo implement that again on the Switch 2, it greatly contributes to the immersion

Baten Kaitos date was leaked as August iirc.

August has some stuff but beyond that it's pretty bleak:
Baten Kaitos
Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
Sea of Stars

September has 3 confirmed releases: Nayuta, Rune Factory 3 and Bomberman R2. After that, we have few games with general 2023 date: DECAPOLICE, Fantasy Life, Fate Samurai Remnant, FaeFarm, Infinity Strash, Disgaea 7, CRYMACHINA and Fashion Dreamer. And tons of indie stuff. IMO, at least one of those L5 games is definitely getting delayed to 2024. It's hard to trust them.

We only have one confirmed "miracle port" left for Switch and that's Kingdom Come Deliverance. Yeah that's definitely cancelled for Switch as it's been 2 years since it was announced. But other than that, currently revealed stuff hardly pushes Switch to its limits.

Metroid Fusion is a great game! never played it before.

It'd be wild in hindsight if this cancellation was the first hint that the next system won't be called "Switch" 👀

I have found myself in an unusual place. I have three single player games that I have been playing simultaneously (which is rare for me), and I am near the end of all three of them.

-Zelda: Wind Waker
-Advance Wars 1
-Forspoken

I am giving meaning to the term "cleaning up" before Zelda launches next week.

I'm thinking of asking for the go-ahead to move the Direct thread up to this Friday, May 5. This way we'll have a few days to establish our predictions before the financial results on the 9th. Then we'll kill time for a few days before the thread shrivels up for Zelda. Thoughts?

Also, I'd love to hear some title suggestions. My current one is alright but it's partially a raccoon joke which generally I'd prefer to avoid for the sake of inclusivity.
I have to say, this is much better idea to do ir before Zelda than after it.

Nintendo Direct Speculation |ST5| Every puzzle has an answer

About eight hours into Ghostwire Tokyo and still having a lot of fun. I knew so little about the game before going in that I didn't even know it was open-world.

It's is a genuinely good time if you enjoy that sort of games. Personally I think people were too hard on it. But I do see why people might feel disappointed.

Expectation: if a game gets canned for the current Switch, it could be because it's being developed for its successor!

Reality: "Unfortunately, Too GaaS Too Furious started development in 50 BC, way before the Nintendo Super Duper Switch was announced. However, never say never. Everyone here at Crunchie Timey is a huge Super Duper Switch fan, so a port could appear down the line if enough free viral marke- I mean demand is shown by the fanbase".

Wasn't it announced in a Direct? Man, that's definitely how you're not going to get slots in future Directs again.
Nintendo doesn't care about stuff like that. People don't seem to realize developers and publishers pay Nintendo to be in directs. What they do care about is if your in a direct and leak stuff.

I consider MonolithSoft to be Nintendo's best studio and I can't wait to see their action game. This will allow many players who were not very interested in JRPGs and Xenoblade to discover the work of the greatest developers of all time.

Damn, if it was that's pretty shit. I wonder if Nintendo's grudge would extend enough to not grant a timeslot for the inevitable GTAV port as a result

Honestly I fully agree with this notion. This does partly inspire why I'm not expecting a Direct before September; radio silence has never been a good sign from Nintendo because it almost never leads to any kind of megaton blow-out that rejuvenates the fanbase (if I'm being honest it usually feels insulting how they'll drop an announcement completely ignoring the temperature of the room when they've been unresponsive), but if we don't hear any news by the end of July, I'mma have a bad feeling about...well, everything.

If I play more than 2 I end up not playing any of them, and even 2 is hard lol. Right now I'm playing Samus Returns 3D and slooooowly playing Persona 5R in the background. Once I beat Metroid, I'm dedicating all my time to P5R until TOTK is out. I've metaphorically cleared my calendar for the game, but I guess it's possible I do all I want in it before June.

What I have been doing is alternating playing games and reading manga... but I guess manga is kinda on hold while I do Japanese lessons.

it's been an inevitable GTA5 port for like 5 years, not sure how inevitable it is tbh

Btw, on a more serious note, is it just me or has gaming news been sllllooooow. Nothing really exciting is happening right now. Publishes and studios quite coy on details.

Or maybe it has to do with that our weirdness is just there

We're getting earning reports from Nintendo and other companies in a few days

Aside from that this month always seemed like it was gonna be quiet. Like everyone else made way for Zelda.

Yeah, we don't even get ESRB/Korean/Taiwanese rating leaks anymore. I want to wake up to good news that's Tales of Arise getting rated for Switch. Or Xenosaga HD Trilogy. Or Viewftiful Joe View-per Collection. Or Monster Rancher 3-4 HD.
