I’ve assumed this was the case since E3 2021 trailer, to the point where I’d be kind of disappointed if it not.

Like that’s surely a huge appeal of the sky exploration and surely a goal they’re shooting for?

The main character is called Zelda and he has to explore the kingdom while trying to not slip over all them tears laying around. THANKS FOR CLICKING MY VIDEO YOU NERD
 
In BOTW you can already go from high sky to the ground with no loading. Of course in TotK ot would be seamless no matter what, if it wasn't it would not even make sense.

Maybe he found out that in this game you'll not only be able to explore the land of hyrule but also the sky above?
 
OLED announcement this Tuesday or Wednesday is like a safe-ish guess this late in the game that's why some of us have been saying it for the last number of pages.

Replaying Skyward Sword again. Skyview Temple is called "Temple of Contemplation" in Dutch. Cool and fitting, but that's not what the original Japanese was saying according to the Zelda wiki =P .

Also bigass moon during the Searching for Fi sequence. It's yellow though, fortunately.

Given that most of the Zelda series amiibo (that existed at the time) gave some exclusive items in BotW, is it really that much of a stretch for each of them to have a unique paraglider skin? The four in the tweet are just some choice examples, never took that to mean that ONLY those four will be available.

Yeah that's what I've got in the back of my mind when I criticize something about it. Truly a ground breaking game, but there are a lot of obvious flaws. This new game has the potential to fill in a lot of missing stuff while also being its own thing. Really can't wait.

True, it's hard to say if those 4 paraglider options are it, or if they're just examples.

I'm not too confident in the page I posted because the amiibo descriptions looks copy and pasted (possibly placeholder descriptions), the BotW amiibo descriptions on the same site are uniquely described.

I'm not saying those 4 options are it, but I'm just going to wait until there's more info.

I’ve been thinking about the relationship of TOTK and BotW and this might be a rare case where a new game could influence my perception of an older one - but there’s tons of ways it could go

For instance, I put BotW as a top 3 of all time. There’s so much it did that was just fucking amazing. But there’s a ton of flaws/areas* that could be so easily improved that I view it as “well this is an amazing template that will obviously be improved in the sequel!” So if TOTK DOESNT address those areas, it could potentially sour me on BotW for inadvertently promising something to me that it ended up having no intention of fulfulling. Yes that’s on me, but it’s still something I’ve taken for granted nonetheless.

On the other hand, TOTK could address most of, if not all of these criticisms. If this were to happen, it could render BotW almost obsolete for me. Especially if it layers on tons of new fun mechanics I didn’t even think of in addition to those improvements. If it gives me all of the improvements that have been discussed - plus the phasing system, vehicles, weapon merging, time reversal, a more dynamic and moving world (the world that BotW already had mind you) - why would I go back? It’s literally bigger and better.

The way BotW could maintain its status for me mainly comes down to tone. That atmospheric, melancholy tone that permeates the game. The immersion into nature. I could see TOTK totally forgoing this in favor of its own mood - perhaps one of more danger? - in order to set itself apart from its predecessor. In that case, there’s still something special worth going back to BotW for. And I DO feel this is pretty likely - I feel like the Zelda team does like to make each game feel unique and able to stand on its own tonally. And I think that’s something TOTK will maintain even if it’s not exactly clear as to how yet.

These are mainly just musings and not meant to be taken TOO seriously, but I do find the potential of how TOTK could change BOTW’s perception interesting to discuss. Not sure if anyone feels the same.

*said complaints include the often discussed more enemy variety and boss variety, better integrations of dungeons/enclosed areas, more aesthetic variety amongst those.

The good ol' 2017 days, when Mario Oddissey was an auto-run, Splatoon 2 a porting and Xenoblade 2 surely not being released on time within the end of the year

I’m seriously considering not watching the likely upcoming big release trailer for this game. I want to go in as blind as possible and I’ve got a feeling the next trailer will show a lot. Potentially I might just read some of the reactions on here to see how hyped people are. The willpower required to not watch will be insane though.

If 0 hype meant 0 pre-orders I'm sure Nintendo would be worried but as it stands now, it is the most preordered game of the year. NGL I'm starting to think "hype" doesn't matter that much for a huge game like this
