StarTopic Nintendo General Discussion |ST18 March 2023| The physical version of ST18 will be available in stores next month

I don’t think it’s unlikely, but at the same time I don’t think it’s “obvious” either. There’s a ton of time between now and June 12th, especially since I don’t think it’ll have much time between announcement and release.

Silksong just missed a Nintendo Direct and a Sony presentation and has provided no updates whatsoever in the last 9 months. This is very obvious.

The non-obvious question is whether or not it releases Fall 2023 or sometime next year.

I don’t think that’s obvious at all. Team Cherry could announce it’s ready and drop a date for next week and that wouldn’t surprise me too much. Probably not, but with Silksong I’m not ruling anything out.

So with Bayo Origins this week, is next week the first potential chance at new Zelda news? I’m leaning toward it not being quite yet, but it’s at least possible.
In theory, yes. "At least possible" is definitely how I'd think of it.

Further NSO updates wouldn't surprise me. Mega Drive is kinda due, for example.

I like how TPC is so desperately behind on everything that they're only now getting in on Web3 after it was a catastrophic failure.

Incredible company.
+$100 million media franchise at work 🙃

I know I often pipe up with fear and distrust over Nintendo's handling of their legacy content, but I can't understate how terrified I am by the prospect of one game a month for EP releases instead of one game a month per console for EP releases. i.e. Metroid Fusion is all that we're getting for NSO this month, and N64 isn't getting an update until April.

This is video gamey enough to be relevant, right?

I have to wonder how the failure of Forspoken and Babylon's Fall will affect Square's relationship with Sony.

Because Sony spent a lot of money advertising Forspoken and Square just uhhh, pushed the game out there even though it clearly needed a lot more time and money.

Like, the lighting engine... Doesn't work.

Feels kind of like a "why the fuck are we advertising a game you don't care about" moment.

Silksong's taking the Switch 2 approach, huh? 🤣

Omg that's so great ❤️
Most recent news I saw about the house was where there was a Karen on that street putting up big signs hating on Goonies and telling them to go home and shit, glad the actual owners are cool with people enjoying things.

They’re obviously hiring someone who knows what NFTs and the metaverse are so they can better avoid them.

…right?

Rich companies often have so much pocket change that they'll just hire people to maybe experiment on stuff even if it never amounts to anything. So I wouldn't be surprised if nothing ever comes from it.

Had a really productive morning. Made like 7 brand new enemies, added a handful of enemy traits, and fixed a couple of UI issues I had just discovered.

I now have a rat who launches cactus needles from cactuses implanted in its shoulders, called a Cacrat.

EDIT: Cacti, not cactuses, what the hells is wrong with me.

Awkward Zombie with a ©2023 gives me an out of body experience but in a good way.

The Punchline Is Machismo, Hejibits, Completely Serious Comics, Brawl In The Family, A Softer World, Doctor Cat, probably so many more webcomics I can't remember that have all since fallen by the wayside either being retired with a finale by their creators or simply languishing without any updates in months or years.

Honestly I think the only webcomics I still follow with any regularity are Questionable Content and Dumbing of Age. I wish I could get back into XKCD but...eh, I guess I came to a point where too many of the science/engineering/physics punchlines just fly right over my head.

Michelle Yeoh won an Oscar. And fuck Hollywood but goddamn does she deserves this!

It would be nice if “Steam Deck Verified” games could slim down their install size by cutting out some of the stuff the portable mode wouldn’t need.

Sony insinuating MS is going to go full on Coleco porting Donkey Kong to the 2600 and intentionally botch the ports is wild

Its also sort of unhinged and bad because if this does go through and there is literally even a single frame drop or screen tear perceivable anywhere the developers are going to get legions of fanboys screeching foul play at them

I know that Sony doesn't care about optics, it's all about blocking the deal, but some of their comments have been something else. Them bringing up innovation and creativity was funny too, given one publisher shut down Japan Studio and the other just released Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment.

The most innovative and creative thing Microsoft could do is kill Call of Duty.

Just sat for a solid five minutes watching raindrops fall on Samus' visor. The gyro aim made the view move in sync with my relaxed breathing, which was suprisingly calming.

I’m working on finishing up Bayo3 before Origins comes out, and I really don’t think there’s anything the last couple chapters can do that’ll change my opinion that this is the best one in the series in terms of gameplay.

In terms of gameplay the last couple chapters are definitely consistent with the rest of the game.

And Nier replicant bought! Just went half off on Xbox digital(downside of digital only)

The real question is will Drakengard ever get ported to modern consoles

Square hasn't tapped their PS2 library for remasters yet. There are tons of gems awaiting for the light of HD conversion but I doubt Drakengard 1-2 are at top of their list. Unless Taro specifically asks them to prioritize.

@Derachi @merp @famicorpse real question is if it’s an All-Stars/brotherhood treatment of the original manga/anime to start what’ll they call it in the west with Ultimate muscle already be a thing? M.U.S.C.L.E.? M.U.S.C.L.E. Man? Ultimate Muscle origins?
Honestly at this point just call it Kinnikuman. People can Google it!

Dunno.

On another note:

Anyone remember the 4kids opening for Ultimate Muscle?

Man, those were the days...

I’ve watched it. Still need to watch the show, only read the original Kinnikuman run. Plan to grab ultimate muscle Blu-ray in May

I wouldn't bet on it. It's aged super poorly. I'd say a remake would be nice but I wouldn't trust modern Square Enix with the more fucked up aspects of the game's story.

Why did I decide that the week of daylight savings time was also a good week to travel multiple time zones east and help someone out at work, and also go in early (6AM) to do so? RIP my sleep, please send coffee
