No relation, but just read this interesting piece about Catherine on Paste Mag :

This was a really interesting read because usually I heard, like she talks about, how Catherine: Full Body was labeled “bad for trans people” and that was about as far as the conversation went. Good to get another perspective and see more into it. I haven’t played the game myself (only a little of the original) though, and I know it still has some issues, but it seems like another good example of the internet often being incapable of nuance and discussion.

What'd you think? I thought it was solid with extremely well-choreographed fight scenes, but lacked in some of the family drama and felt a little complicated narratively with some reveals. Didn't hold a candle to Creed for me, but is superior to II for sure imo
Yeah, feel exactly the same about it. It was just a bit cluttered and lacking in the buildup to the final fight which is why it fell a little bit flat emotionally. I feel like I needed more of Donny and Dame and less of the other stuff. It either needed a longer runtime or to be more focused on the central conflict.

They've yet to match the high of the first one when Donny talks to Rocky before the final round, gets up to fight and the theme plays. So good.

did anyone else play this game?

I did! Some friends of mine had a copy. I'm not sure if I got past the underwater city tho, I didn't have a PS1 to borrow it and I think I avoided using their memory cards. I thought the opening level was pretty cool specially, the sound effects and soundtrack I think were straight from the movie so the atmosphere was great. I remember having to manually attack to deflect the laser shots, while some newer games on PC like Jedi Academy had the lightsaber auto-deflect shots

The Mario Kart item system where you get more help the further you are behind and less help the further you are ahead is how society should function.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
I too want to hit Jeff Bezos with a spiked shell.

I don’t know. The people at the top seem to keep getting coins even though their bank is maxed out

On the contrary, the top 1% should get all the Blue Shells so that when they go unused, they can trickle down to the bottom 99%.

I know its not what you were going for but ya gotta admit, "Tonight's Vibe: Video Unavailable" is a hell of a mood 🤣
I mean, I was going for 'melancholy and a bit depressing' so I guess it's kind of similar?

This is much more nihilistic, though :p

Hmmm... a blank void where a Youtube video should be is kind of an Abyss

I still can't believe that they added Inkopolis to Splatoon 3 and it doesn't even have the single player from Splatoon 1.
It mostly seems to be a quick preorder bonus they threw together because Side Order could take a while.

I don't think the original hero mode is coming back until it's time to emulate Wii U games.

I'm for it, but only if you remove the Blue Shell before adapting the system to real world society.

Does anyone know whether the footage from OOT&ALTTP in the BOTW documentary was captured from a CRT or emulated with the (S)NES/NSO CRT filter applied to them? It strikes me as the perfect look for retro games.

Woah, work almost made me forget that i wanted to brag a bit.

Backstory: Due to the imminent release of the next batch of FE Engage DLC Emblems this week, i decided to take a break with Engage so that i can get and use them in my current playthrough.

Couldn't help myself and went back to Elden Ring (due to DLC announcement hype), where i basically did everything outside of a certain scarlet-rotted someone. Reason was half because i kinda feared the difficulty and half because beating her isn't required for most endings.
Because i stay in NG to not get myself a way too difficult DLC in NG+ and upwards, i decided to tackle on the stuff i've left open until now.

And now for the brag ... i beat her first try (with summon help)! Player i summoned for help knew what they had to do, they took her into melee focus so that i could safely nuke her with my spells.

I still count this as a win, especially because i'm honest enough to admit i'll prolly never beat her totally alone, at least not with my current character and how he's built. ;D

did anyone else play this game?

I played this, and in fact had a copy that was signed by one of the voice actors who did a few incidental characters. He was a friend of my aunt's and as a kid I thought it was the coolest thing ever that he did voice work in a video game, even if it was just bit parts.

Nintendo has figured out sustainable socialism and no one listened to them

Yeah, my spider-sense has started giving me bad vibes about the AEW game recently.
I’ve never been sold on Yuke’s. I definitely think they were managed poorly with 2K and THQ, but I also think some of the issues with modern wrestling games are their fault and theirs alone.

quick.

Should I buy Tropical Freeze on Switch while it’s on sale?

Yes or yes?

Let me tell you all, after playing Destiny 2 all weekend, I hope you all appreciate the way Metroid Prime handles platforming and boss battles. Prime is still some of the smoothest first person platforming. Destiny 2 has a lot of it but it can feel awkward and imprecise much of the time. Then there are the boss battles. The lock on system allows Samus to dodge while keeping eyes on the boss at all times. In most other FPS games but especially in Destiny, if you want to avoid getting hit, you need to run away from the boss which often means turning your back to it. This is not a huge problem in multiplayer because your teammates can do damage while the boss targets you but in solo play, mean it sucks.

Have to say, I think I like Mega Man X2 better than X1. X1's good too but I just like the level themes and music better in X2
based opinion. i can't claim to be the biggest Mega Man fan, but while I really liked X1 when I played it for the first time a few years ago, replaying it last year, then beating X2 for the first time immediately after really cemented that X2 is the better experience. I think it took me a while to get around to fully believing that because X is so much more beloved, but X2 just has the more diverse environments and themes. And even if the production values feel a little worse as far as music goes, not every track feels the same like they do in X.

like you just don't get themes this good in X1!

Guten tag Fami, wie geht's?

Mostly disconnected all weekend but had the lovely experience of seeing Jurassic Park in concert with a 75-piece orchestra. Kinda shed a tear when the brachiosaurus first made an appearance in the film like never before. God, what a movie.

Also rip in peace twitter, rip in piss musty. Any takers if this is Twitter's final death knell, or if it'll somehow limp along another month?

Fun fact (that I'm sure will incur a wry laugh from @bellydrum): Remember Musk announced that usage of the Twitter API will now cost users a subscription fee and make several bots defunct? He blocked t.co, their hostsite for all images/videos/links for tweets 😂 That's why it's all in flames right now lmfao

A play in two acts.

Act 2:

Well played Paradox

I think I’m done listening to NVC. The cast just doesn’t work for me. I’ve always found Seth to be a lousy host - I truly miss Jose. Moreover, this latest episode went into the ‘lazy dev’ rhetoric without any insight on GameFreak’s development cycle. It also had Kat admit she hasn’t played Scarlet and Violet and then correct Reb about legendaries in the game. Sigh. I used to love NVC. I would love a show with Jose and Reb.
I feel pretty much the same about gaming media in general these days. Even shows that are often recommended like Easy Allies and their associated podcasts I find disappointing and full of poor (if any) research on the topics they discuss. I was listening to the Kit & Krysta Show for a good while last year, but fell off around the holidays and never picked it back up. Nowadays the only gaming podcast that I still listened to periodically is Retronauts and I found the episodes I enjoy tend to be the ones where they rarely cover games at all.

I'm sure it'll hobble its way back, but it has been amazing watching the slow decline of twitter. Musk is like a virtual Nero watching Rome burn.

I didn't know this, but Nintendo has a limited number of digital refund exceptions they make. I believe I've made at least 3, one recently.

In this instance it was really silly cause I wanted to buy the Dead Cells DLC bundle but already owned DC, so I got it refunded and saved $3. Lmfao at my penny-pinching ass

I reccomend "They Create Worlds" also. I just really am so into these historical takes on video games, going back even further to before companies were into the whole game business. They are an incredible podcast.
