A second half with Metroid Prime 4 can't be weak. I mean if we get totk and mp4 and Pikmin 4 this year I can't see how that would be anything but amazing. Potentially 3 games that will last a long time.

Are we thinking February 9th? My friend is booking the theatre in their apartment building and I want to know which date to book it for 😂

That’s right, watching Nintendo Direct on the BIG SCREEN

I still don’t get Nintendo increasing Switch production this year. 🙃
Hopefully some awesome new limited edition Switches. I'm thinking maybe a new Mario one to tie into the movie, and a Zelda limited edition Switch. They should consider making a limited edition Kirby Switch. And just for bananas a Donkey Kong limited edition Switch.

It doesn't matter if they have a weak lineup, not doing a June event next to the other companies is not good.

Besides, who actually said that Nintendo told ESA anything about their lineup? It's a bit strange using that as a counterargument against the light lineup comments when no one really said that (correct me if I'm wrong).

I do not think Advance Wars gets a shadow drop. Whatever PR Nintendo saw in delaying the initial release has gained the benefit it can (they're a corporation after all) and the war in Ukraine isn't ending anytime soon. Advance Wars just isn't big enough for it really to cause a fuss anyway, and it's a "major release" they've invested in. They'll give it a proper re-reveal and release date sometime this year is my prediction.

As for the 2nd half of the year. I think insiders are once again trying to call Nintendo's shot and I feel like that has traditionally not ended well for them. The existence of games we more often see something in development, but when it comes to releases and release schedules, that's far far less often accurately sourced and elaborated upon. Between the Switch Pro and Switch 2 at this point, we've seen tons and tons of stuff hit the web and discussion circles, only to not materialize because Nintendo's plans ended up being entirely different and shifting around. I would not be surprised at all if this was more of that.

Team Cherry about to release the game in May just to give reviewers a heart attack
Team Cherry will release the game in June, to give people an awesome game to play, filling in the void from the no June Nintendo Direct. The game will be so good, no one will care about the no Direct month.

Not to get too into it but a shadow drop is definitely more preferable. A lot of reports that Russia is preparing a new wave of attacks around the first anniversary of the invasion. We know they're mobilizing soldiers and armor to Belarus for a potential attempt to take Kyiv. I don't think Nintendo would want a renewed mainstream focus on the war with this game pending release if say they had a trailer on the 9th or whatever with a release date in a few weeks. It would just be where they were last year. Shadowdropping is more risk-averse i guess is what I'm trying to say.

Nintendo Direct Wishlist:

Kirby RTDL Deluxe
New 2D/3D Mario game
Mario spinoff
Pac-Man World 2 RePac (like that's gonna happen anytime soon)
New F-Zero (or GX remake/remaster)
Mario Kart 8 DLC Wave 4
GB/GBC/GBA NSO (Thank god I hacked my switch so I don't have to wait lol, but it'd still be nice)
Wario World Remake
Paper Mario TTYD Remake

I'm setting my expectations way too high lol

I'll just quote Scrooge 1970 for that section:

"Scavengers and sycophants and flatterers and fools
Pharisees and parasites and hypocrites and ghouls
Calculating swindlers, prevaricating frauds
Perpetrating evil as they roam the earth in hordes
Feeding on their fellow men
Reaping rich rewards
Contaminating everything they see"
Someone put a beat to this, stat.

It does feel like it could be a pretty heavy DLC/port/remaster kind of year.

I mean TotK is gonna go gangbusters for them anyways.

I have a deal for Nintendo, a good one.

They just move Zelda's release date to February and i'm willing to wait until September for a Direct. Everyone wins!

Nah, Xenoblade 3 was an exception due to the rather quickly made/short framed decision to switch release dates with Splatoon 3.
They simply weren't able to produce enough CE stuff for a worldwide release in the shortened timeframe.

Pretty sure the Xeno 3 CE would've been available at every retailer if they didn't switcheroo it.

Engage's Divine Edition for example was already back to normal. ^^
They move Zelda's release date to 3.3.23

What part of his body is he gonna shave hair off this time :p

In all seriousness, the odds of a direct being the week of the 6th or 13th is like 99%, there's smoke everywhere between the leaked NA voucher video and the NSUID updates.
Plus Nintendo's history of having a Direct after their earnings release.

If the Metroid Prime Remaster is "weak" then I'm ok with Nintendo having a weak second half.
Thankfully, I have zero expectations of Prime 4 coming this year, so I won't have my hopes dashed in that department.

Now you've done it, new headlines tomorrow:

I'll admit I'm pretty baffled too. Seems like every industry analyst, professional or amateur, considers the Switch to be borderline obsolete. The reports about a light second half of the year don't help.

For all I know, they've got some sort of ace up their sleeve (or are just plain expecting ToTK to do that well), because otherwise this honestly seems like a stupid decision.

what's really funny is Nate has leaked dates with that sort of elaborate breadcrumb trail before

Nintendo has on average since 2017 announced 16 games a year, as high as 19 and as low as 11 - releasing the majorit within a year and many the very same year. So while there's probably a game or 2 that's releasing the first half of the year it's more than likely we're going to see a few dropping in H2 or later.

Winter direct (Jan mini/Feb)
22 - 5 games
21 - 7 games
20 - N/A
19 - 5 games
18 - 4 games

Also, I cant believe they made a sound effect for Bokoblin picking it's nose in BotW. That's wild.
Odd year has more releases, this year is a odd year, therefore Nintendo is definitely releasing more than 7 games.

I will be going back to work next week after being off with covid.
That's all the proof I need of there being a direct next week. I can never catch them live.

Bah humbug, Nintendo Direct was trending on my twitter feed. I quicky rushed to check to see if something was announced. Nope.

Ganondorf is hands down the most interesting part of Tears of the Kingdom for me. Aside from mentions in mainline games and then appearances in spinoffs, I think the last time we had Ganondorf was Twilight Princess.
Very curious to see more about why the man himself is here and not just Beat Ganon.
Imagine if we get to play as Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.

You finish the game, load a new file and this appears: Play as Ganondorf?
Best post game.

I mean if their fall is mainly DLC for TOTK ,Pikmin 4 and 2dmario/DK thats fine enough for me. i would like some time to clear my backlog as right now my backlog of games i want to play first on switch alone is 40 games not including sale games ill play later or Steam / PS
